- On 20 October 2016. she was elected Labour MP (Member of Parliament) for the constituency of Batley and Spen in West Yorkshire, following the murder on 16 June 2016 of Jo Cox, the previous MP, on the streets of Birstall nearby. Jo and Tracy had been good friends and had both grown up in the Batley area.
- Married her long-term partner Richard Platt after 16 years together at the Actors Church (St. Paul's) in Covent Garden, London in July 2005
- On 9 May 2021 Tracy Brabin was named the inaugural West Yorkshire mayor, representing the Labour Party. She received 310,923 votes (59.8%) after second preference ballots were counted. There are 2.3 million people in the region that includes Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield. As mayor, Brabin will have powers over transport, crime and planning. She became the first female metro mayor in England, four years after the creation of the roles in regions of major cities.
- Her Coronation Street (1960) character Tricia Armstrong became the 9th woman on the soap opera to give birth. Tricia had a son Brad (played by Caleb Flanagan), born on 14 February 1997.
- Children, with Richard Platt, Lois Talullah (b. 1993) and Nancy Eliza (b. 31 July 1997).
