Ian Rankin’s iconic detective Rebus is heading back to the small screen. Here’s what we know about the new series…
Ian Rankin’s Rebus is one of the most successful characters in contemporary fiction. Appearing in over 24 novels since 1987, with the 25th, Midnight & Blue, set to be published in October, and over a dozen short stories, Rankin’s dour detective has made an indelible impression on readers the world over.
It wasn’t long before he made his way to the screen. The first iteration starred John Hannah, who played the role for one series in 2000 to 2001. Hannah was unpopular with fans of the books, and he quit the role soon after.
For three series, Ken Stott stepped into the role of the detective. His portrayal was extremely popular, and he became inextricably linked with the role, so much so it has taken well over a decade for...

Viaplay’s first U.K. drama commission, “Rebus,” has gone into production in Scotland. The show has also added some new cast members including “Line of Duty’s” Lucie Shorthouse, Brian Ferguson (“The Ipcress File”) and Stuart Bowman (“The Serpent”).
They will join Richard Rankin (“Outlander”) as John Rebus, the much-loved character John Rebus from Ian Rankin’s bestselling novels.
“Rebus” tells the story of a Scottish police detective who “finds himself at a psychological crossroads,” according to the logline. “At odds with a job increasingly driven by corporate technocrats, involved in a toxic affair he knows he needs to end, and all but supplanted in his daughter’s life by his ex-wife’s wealthy new husband, Rebus begins to wonder if he still has a role to play – either as a family man or a police officer. Stars: Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, Alistair Petrie, Roxane Duran, Nigel Betts, Simon Kunz, Stuart Bowman, Amelia Crouch, Max Mackintosh, Tommy Rodger, Mine Rose Daly, Millie Kiss | Written and Directed by Sean Ellis
Eight for Silver is a horror movie that was originally released in 2021 under the title The Cursed. Directed by Sean Ellis, it stars Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, and Alistair Petrie and takes place in the late 19th century, centring around a small village in France where a series of brutal murders have taken place. The locals are convinced that a pack of wolves is responsible for the killings, but a British pathologist, John McBride (Holbrook), arrives to investigate and discovers that something far more sinister is at play.
One of the strengths of Eight for Silver is its visual style. The movie is shot in a dark, atmospheric manner that perfectly captures the eerie and foreboding mood of the story.

In recent weeks Amazon has released a flurry of casting news for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” season two. We have names of 15 actors who will join the Middle Earth cast: Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle, Nicholas Woodeson, Sam Hazeldine, Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb, Kevin Eldon, Will Keen, Selina Lo, and Calam Lynch. But details about their roles are scarce.
The only specific character information that accompanied the casting updates was the shocking news that Hazeldine (“Peaky Blinders”) will be taking over the role of orc-daddy Adar from Joseph Mawle. With showrunner Patrick McKay previously teasing elder elf (and ring bearer) Cirdan the Shipwright arriving next season, that still leaves 13 new roles shrouded in mystery.

Like information offered by the elves, Prime Video is drip-feeding the information on the new faces who will be joining Morfydd Clark,
Ismael Cruz Cordova, Charlie Vickers and the rest in the new season of The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power. On the heels of last week's announcement, here's the latest news: Kevin Eldon, Calam Lynch, Selina Lo, Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb and Will Keen are all in the show.
Of course, in keeping with the news so far, we have zero information on who the newcomers will be playing, so start your own guessing now. Though if we're honestly, we're hoping Eldon shows up as this guy.
The team behind The Rings Of Power is busily filming season 2 now, and that should be on our screens in 2024.

Do you know what's the only quest tougher than Frodo traveling all that way to cast the One Ring into the fires of Mount Doom? Attempting to one-up the wildly successful first season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power." After introducing us to a brand-new batch of characters and getting all the necessary table-setting out of the way, season 2 appears set to pick up where the finale left off and run with it. Less than a week after the first batch of new names were announced to join the sophomore effort of this epic fantasy streaming series, yet another group of actors have joined the cast in what's being described as recurring roles.

It was a big investment for the streaming company and the Tolkien brand, Middle-Earth Productions, looks to expand to many areas of media for the franchise.
Season 2 was inevitable for the show, and Amazon Studios has just announced the cast for the next year of the series:
Oliver Alvin-wilson
Oliver Alvin-Wilson’s television credits include The Bay (ITV), as “Guy Townsend,” Murder in Provence (ITV) as “Luc Martinez,” Collateral (BBC) as ”Chips Benson” and Lovesick (Netflix) as “Alex.” In film, Oliver has been seen in Harkness, Wonder Woman 1984, and The Huntsman. Stuart Bowman

Emergency call handling is one of the highest-stress jobs that take place in an office environment. Handlers need to keep their head as they extract information from panicked and injured callers, who are often in dangerous situations. There can be highs, like the first call taken by Iain de Caestecker’s lead in BBC One thriller The Control Room – over the phone, Gabe talks a scared couple through the emergency roadside delivery of their child and they name the baby after him, their own angel Gabriel. "You will all pay for the sins made by our elders." Ld Entertainment has unveiled an official trailer for the film The Cursed, which is the new titled for the horror thriller called Eight for Silver. This premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival under the Eight for Silver titled, received mixed reviews with some bits of praise. In rural 19th-century France, a mysterious, possibly supernatural menace threatens a small village. John McBride, a pathologist, comes to town to investigate -- and exorcise some of his own demons in the process. This is a werewolf film, which isn't so much of a spoiler, because it's a "reimagining" meaning the mythology is not what you're expecting. You'll have to watch to find out what that means! Starring Boyd Holbrook, with Kelly Reilly, Alistair Petrie, Roxane Duran, Nigel Betts, Stuart Bowman, Simon Kunz, and Amelia Crouch. I caught this last year and it's solid,...

Bodyguard has become the BBC’s first series to be nominated for an Outstanding Drama Series Emmy in nearly 50 years.
The thriller, which aired in the U.S. via Netflix as part of its co-licensing model, where it picked it up at “script stage”, was originally produced by ITV-owned producer World Productions for the British public broadcaster.
While rival ITV has been nominated in the category as recently as 2016 for season six of Downton Abbey, and Netflix picked up noms for its remake of BBC political drama House of Cards, the BBC has to go back to 1972 when Glenda Jackson-fronted drama Elizabeth R, aired by PBS in the U.S. for its original nomination in the main drama category. Strangely, that year BBC drama The Six Wives of Henry VIII, a limited series that aired on CBS, was also nominated.

Not too many people had penciled in Richard Madden to win the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Drama Series — including the man himself. And he said so from the stage.
Game of Thrones‘ alum Madden topped a field of which only one person — Ozark‘s Jason Bateman — also was nominated in the category last year. The also-rans this go-round were Stephan James (Homecoming), Billy Porter (Pose) and Matthew Rhys (The Americans). It was Madden’s first career Globe win and nomination. Rhys won the comedy actor Emmy in September for the final season of FX’s Cold War spy thriller.
The BBC politcal thriller, which streams on Netflix, is set in and around the corridors of power. Bodyguard follows David Budd (Madden), a heroic but volatile war veteran now working as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Branch (RasP) of London’s Metropolitan Police Service.

(Spoilers ahead for the ending of the Netflix/BBC series “Bodyguard”)
There’s a lot to unravel once you reach the end of “Bodyguard,” the new Netflix limited series starring “Game of Thrones” alum Richard Madden. It’s a show full of red herrings and other robust misdirections, and by the time it’s all over your head very well may be spinning as you try to put together all the pieces. As you try to parse what in the hell just happened.
Don’t worry, because we’re here to help you pick through the madness and see the full picture of the six episodes of conspiracies and counter-conspiracies. It’s actually not all that complicated overall, but the way the show doles out information it can feel like way more of a convoluted mess than it really is. Like real life, “Bodyguard” is not a clean and straightforward story.

Earlier this year, the BBC’s “Bodyguard” was a ratings sensation in the United Kingdom, with its finale garnering some 10.4 million viewers, higher ratings than any British broadcast short of the World Cup.
As the series arrives stateside on Netflix, it’s not hard to see why. The thriller star “Game of Thrones” alumnus Richard Madden as a security officer and military veteran who enters the series with no small amount of trauma and only builds up more scar tissue as it goes. Both juicy in its delving into character psychology and rippingly ready to tear up its playbook as it goes, it’s a six-episode ride that demands, and rewards, a quick binge, and one that is as likely as any of Netflix’s overseas imports to find a breakout audience.
As the series begins, Madden’s David Budd is on a train journey with his young children when...

Exclusive: Breakout new BBC One drama Bodyguard is headed to Netflix. The streaming network will carry the terror thriller starring Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden and Line of Duty’s Keeley Hawes outside of the UK and Ireland (and China where Netflix is not available). The series’ Netflix premiere is set for October 24.
The deal for Bodyguard, produced by World Productions, an ITV Studios company, was made through Netflix’s co-licensing team. The digital platform has been a partner since the show’s early production stages.
Under its co-licensing model, Netflix is collaborating with U.S. studios and international production companies on series that air on other linear or digital networks. Netflix takes first-run global distribution in as many territories as available, coming in as a partner on projects that are going to series at a finished script or pilot stage and as early as script development.

Jed Mercurio, creator of BBC breakout drama Bodyguard, is eyeing a second season of the terror thriller after stellar opening ratings and an endorsement from former Home Secretary Amber Rudd.
The six-part drama, which stars Game Of Thrones alum Richard Madden and Line Of Duty‘s Keeley Hawes, opened with 6.7M (35%) overnight viewers for its first episode and remained steady at 6.4M (30%) for its second episode.
The World Productions thriller is set in and around the corridors of power and tells the story of a heroic but volatile war veteran assigned to protect the Home Secretary whose politics run contrary to his own.

Mercurio responded by thanking Rudd...
