Edward Boon is an American video game developer and voice actor from Chicago, Illinois who is most well-known for creating Mortal Kombat and Injustice, two fighting game series by Midway and NetherRealm Studios. He is considered one of the most influential fighting game developers of all time. Mortal Kombat also resulted in the creation of ESRB, a video game content ratings system. He provided the voice of Scorpion in Mortal Kombat whenever he says "Get over here" and "Come here". His games influenced a live-action film series based on Mortal Kombat and a series of comic books based on the Injustice games for DC Comics.
Ed Boon currently holds the Guiness World Record for longest running voice actor in video games, having been the voice of Scorpion since the series began in 1992.
Boon has stated that he would like to see a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter video game.
Has stated in the past that his all-time favorite fighting game series is Tekken, and that he likes playing it in his spare time.
He named the character Tanya after his own sister, Tania. As well as naming the character Sonya Blade after his other sister, Sonya.
Boon is a longtime fan of singer/songwriter Prince; this has long been attributed to the selection of ninja Rain's purple palette swap since the character's debut appearance in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995).
