Back in 1994, long before he was cast to play Jaime Lannister in the hit series Game of Thrones, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau made his feature film debut in writer/director Ole Bornedal’s thriller Nightwatch, where he played a character named Martin, a law student who takes a job working as a night watchman at The Department of Forensic Medicine in Copenhagen just as the place starts filling up with the bodies of a serial killer’s victims. Now, thirty years after working on the original Nightwatch together, Bornedal and Coster-Waldau have re-teamed for a “30 years” later sequel called Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever, which is set to be released through the Shudder streaming service on May 17th – and with that date just a month away, a trailer for the film has arrived online! "Isn't that Wörmer's signature?" Shudder has revealed the official US trailer for the Danish horror mystery sequel Nightwatch 2, known as Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever, from the same Danish filmmaker Ole Bornedal. Not to be confused with the two Russian movies Night Watch and Day Watch, this is not related - it's a new sequel to Bornedal's 1994 movie Nightwatch, which was remade into Nightwatch in 1997 with Ewan McGregor. The original also starred Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who has become considerably more famous after "Game of Thrones". In this sequel, Martin's daughter, Emma, takes up a night watch job to find out what happened to her parents almost thirty years ago. A meeting with Wörmer in his cell pulls the serial killer out of his coma and sets in motion a chain of fateful events. Starring Fanny Leander Bornedal, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kim Bodnia, Sonja Richter, Ulf Pilgaard, Casper Kjær Jensen, Paprika Steen, and Nina Rask.

A scene from the Swedish-Danish crime TV series “The Bridge.” Courtesy of Topic
Back in 2011, the Scandinavian crime series, “The Bridge,” was not only hugely popular in Europe but spawned quite a few remakes and derivatives on both sides of the Atlantic. The now oft-used premise is that a body is found straddling the national border of a bridge joining Denmark and Sweden, creating jurisdictional confusion. That gets worse when they discover that the top and bottom halves are from two different women. Successor series have been set on the US/Mexico, Singapore/Malaysia, Greece/Turkey and the Russia/Estonia borders. A France/England version used the Chunnel in the same way. That list may be more illustrative than complete, since variations exist under non-bridgey titles. In each, a cop from one side partners with one from the other, despite cultural and personal differences that add tensions and friction to the whodunnit component.

Banijay’s Endemol Shine India and Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan’s Black Knight Films will adapt hit Danish/Swedish scripted series “Bron/Broen” (“The Bridge”) for Indian audiences.
” ‘The Bridge’ is actually something that I was actively looking to produce. So I went looking for it,” Khan told Variety.
The original show opens with a dead body on a border that is shared by two countries and the discovery leads to a joint investigation by the police forces of the two regions, forcing detectives from both sides to work together to solve the crime. The global success of “The Bridge” – which has aired in 188 countries – has led to its adaptation in multiple languages, set across the international borders of U.S./Mexico, U.K./France, Germany/Austria, Singapore/Malaysia and Russia/Estonia.
The Hindi-language adaptation will also star Khan in the role of Martin, which Kim Bodnia played in the original.

Films are a form of escapism. Some people gravitate towards slice-of-life dramas, while others enjoy bone-chilling horror. Whatever the genre, when executed correctly, a movie should whisk you away from your day-to-day routine.
Anxiety cinema is guaranteed to erase everything around you. You may be surprised that distracting yourself this way is also quite beneficial. Mental health experts confirm that watching something stressful like a horror flick is a brilliant way to channel and release your worries. Of course, watching a film that makes your chest pound isn't always therapeutic. Sometimes, we're merely out for an adrenaline rush or even bragging rights that we're able to sit through something psychologically grueling.
Nail-biting cinema uses everything in its arsenal to leave us on edge. Overlapping dialogue, frenetic scores, and head-spinning camerawork are all trademarks of this subgenre. I love assaulting my senses, so I'm here to guide you to your own state of panicked euphoria.

The Witcher franchise expands later this year on Netflix.
The streaming service announced Saturday during its Tudum Global Fan Event that The Witcher: Blood Origin will launch worldwide on December 25.
The six-part series is set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, and will tell a story lost to time - the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
Yeoh is set to play Scian in the highly anticipated series.
"Scían is the very last of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves," reads the official character breakdown.
"No one can come close to her artistry with the blade, and no one carries as much loss within their heart."

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Killing Eve” Season 4, Episode 8, “Hello, Losers.”]
In May 2018, when “Killing Eve” aired its first finale, the episode ended in aptly wild fashion. Villanelle (Jodie Comer) was severely wounded; some may even have presumed she was dead. Eve was distraught, having followed through on her season-long promise for vengeance yet unable to cope with the confounding loss she suffered as a result. Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) was a goner (reportedly). Carolyn (Fiona Shaw) was in the wind (though probably on her way back to MI6).
At the time, some wondered if this wasn’t the best possible ending for “Killing Eve.” Audiences already knew another season was in the offing — BBC America renewed the series before it even premiered — but between the cat-and-mouse spy story (that couldn’t go on forever), the “will they, won’t they” central relationship (that never aligned perfectly with either “they should” or “they shouldn’t”), and...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the final two episodes of Killing Eve, “Making Dead Things Look Nice” and “Hello, Losers.”] Killing Eve gives some of its fans what they’d been wanting for years only to (seemingly?) take it away in the final moments of the series. In the final two episodes of the drama, Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) was killed — by new assassin Pam (Anjana Vasan)! Meanwhile, Eve (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer) reunited on Gunn’s (Marie-Sophie Ferdane) island, faced off with the other assassin and lived to tell the tale — and kissed! But no sooner were Eve and Villanelle together and taking down the Twelve than were shots fired at them. Villanelle, presumably dead after the number of bullets that hit her, sunk into the darkness of the water, while Eve, raging, surfaced. And Carolyn (Fiona Shaw), who knew she couldn’t return to MI6 empty-handed, walked away. Shaw discusses the finale and looks back ...

Some fan-favorite characters kicked the bucket in the final two episodes of Killing Eve.
Killing Eve Season 4 Episode 7 saw Pam enact one last murder on Helene's behalf.
This death broke and stunned us, as we seriously loved this character.
Pam gave Konstantin a big hug and thanked him for helping her get her new life, then cut his stomach open.
As he died, she learned that Helene got killed by Villanelle and that she didn't have to kill him: but it was too late.
He was already bleeding out to no return, so she sped up the process and slit his throat.
She comforted him as he died, but we needed a lot of tissues.
Even though Konstantin often proved to be a dirty bastard, we still loved his humor and his presence on the show.

Killing Eve Season 4 Episode 6
So much about this episode of Killing Eve feels like a return to old ground. Villanelle is only interested in Eve when she isn’t looking. Eve is aiding and abetting Villanelle while she kills, going so far as to kill herself, and then left alone in a frenzy to deal with the aftermath. Eve brought up the way that Carolyn so horribly mistreated her in season 2, using her as a pawn to get what she wanted, consequences be damned. Carolyn is trying to mastermind from the shadows thanks to her old connections, with mixed results.
With only a few episodes of the series left, Villanelle killing Helene was a much-needed change of pace. Killing Eve mostly used Cuba to tread water, so it’s good to see that rather than keeping Helene in the wings until some sort of final massacre,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Killing Eve Season 4 premiere “Just Dunk Me.”] Can assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer) change? That’s the big question as Killing Eve‘s final season begins. So that’s progress, right? Plus, there’s the godly vision she has of herself promising “I’ll lead you to salvation.” Meanwhile, Eve’s heading down a different path, one that has her shooting Villanelle’s former handler Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) in the hand and trying to track down the Twelve, with intel from her former boss Carolyn (Fiona Shaw). “Killing Eve” fans have never seen Villanelle like this. The BBC America drama returned on Sunday night for Season 4 with what appears to be a major role reversal for its two lead characters: While Eve (Sandra Oh) is taking on a harder edge with a gun in hand, Villanelle (Jodie Comer) seems eager to take a more righteous path.
That has led Villanelle to a religious community, where she’s eager to prove that she’s not a monster. But in her haste to get baptized and prove her worth, Villanelle still gets in her own way. Enter what the show is calling her “Villanelle Vision”: Villanelle starts imagining a version of herself, dressed as Jesus Christ, who has some hard truths for the assassin.
Comer told Variety that playing the vision was “Terrifying. Fun. Hairy. I’ll leave you with that one,” she quipped. “I hope [viewers] enjoy it.

During the “Killing Eve” Season 4 premiere, Villanelle (Jodie Comer) and Eve (Sandra Oh) find themselves face-to-face once more. Eve, a former MI6 desk jockey who moved into active duty while pursuing the assassin presently staring her down, is now working in private security. Villanelle, a killer for hire who grew bored with the gig before losing her taste for blood completely, is struggling to find joy in her evolving identity. Still at odds after their acrimonious split in 2020’s Season 3 finale, the testy couple’s reunion isn’t pretty, and they challenge each other’s progress (or lack thereof) in a curious pitch and catch: “If you really changed, you wouldn’t have come here,” Eve says, to which Villanelle replies, “If you’d really changed, you wouldn’t have let me.”

BBC America has released the official trailer for the fourth season of “Killing Eve.” The spy thriller is set to return with its final season on Feb. 27.
“Killing Eve” stars Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri, an MI5 analyst who is recruited by MI6 head Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw) to track an international assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer) and her handler Konstantin Vasiliev (Kim Bodnia). He’s not a household name per se, but Kim Bodnia is a man people recognize. His portrayal of his character on the hit series, “The Witcher,” has earned him that title and that right. He’s quickly gaining fame around the world with this show, and so are the rest of the people who have taken a role in it. Perhaps no one thought this show would become such a hit, but here we are. He’s done all he can to make things as good as possible, and he’s killing it. Right now, he’s a man worth getting to know a

“The Witcher” Season 2 makes a lot of choices typical to second seasons of suddenly popular series. What worked well is repeated, be it Henry Cavill’s husky, irritated energy or self-contained stories about men cursed into monsters. The established ensemble is separated, tasked with carrying their own arcs (and destined for a stirring reunion in the final episodes), while new characters set up supplementary goings-on to support a series now comfortable in its long-game. Enemies become allies, allies become enemies, and everyone wants to take a bath with Geralt. Goals are the focus — not necessarily completing any, but setting and pursuing them. Everything is about the future and building to it, which makes less room for good, old-fashioned fights with multi-dentured she-demons and tentacled tree people.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Witcher Season 2 Episode 2, “Kaer Morhen.”] This episode reminded me of something I really appreciated about the first season — the speed at which the plot moves. Other shows might have dragged out Geralt’s (Henry Cavill) and Ciri’s (Freya Allan) journey home for several episodes, but The Witcher doesn’t waste time on stalling tactics. Not long after the witcher and the princess set off, they arrive in Kaer Morhen, while the Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Fringilla (Mimî M. Khayisa) plot also picks up pace at the other side of the Continent. Geralt’s return home is met with hearty laughter, entertaining tales of witcher exploits, and, of course, plenty of ale. After so much time riding alone, Geralt finds comfort again around his fellow witcher brethren, including his old mentor and father figure Vesemir (Kim Bodnia). With that comfort comes a sense of safety, which is what is needed right now,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched the first six episodes of Season 2 of Netflix’s “The Witcher.”
Season 2 of Netflix’s “The Witcher,” after being long delayed by Covid, thrusts Geralt (Henry Cavill), Ciri (Freya Allan), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and the rest of the cast of witchers, elves and mages into a darker world full of deadly monsters and even deadlier politics.
Picking up after the Battle of Sodden Hill in the Season 1 finale, Geralt initially believes Yennefer to be dead and spends much of the season training young Ciri in the dangerous arts of witchers at Kaer Morhen. At his childhood home and witcher proving grounds, he reunites with Vesemir (Kim Bodnia), his own former mentor and father figure, and catches up with his witcher brethren, who are untrusting of Geralt’s new ward. While Ciri pushes herself to become the first female witcher, it...
