Change is coming to the One Chicago shows. Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med will all return in 2024 with new episodes. But fans will have to brace themselves for the departure of some much-loved characters in the upcoming seasons, as well as the introduction of at least one new face.
Kara Killmer leaving ‘Chicago Fire,’ Tracy Spiridakos out at ‘Chicago P.D.’
The most recent seasons of the One Chicago shows were marked by some high-profile cast member exits. Chicago P.D. Season 10 was Jay Halstead actor Jesse Lee Soffer’s last with the Dick Wolf drama. Chicago Fire Season 11 saw Taylor Kinney make a sudden (albeit temporary) exit due to a personal matter. And Chicago Med experienced some major changes in season 8, with Brian Tee (Dr. Ethan Choi), Nick Gehlfuss (Will Halstead), Guy Lockard (Dr. Dylan Scott), and Sarah Rafferty (Dr. Pamela Blake) all moving on from Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

More often than not, Dick Wolf franchises feel untouchable.
Depending on how well actor negotiations have gone regarding artificial intelligence, it wouldn't be entirely unsurprising if, 20 years from now, we still have an AI-generated rendition of Olivia Benson protecting and advocating for abuse survivors on Law Order: Svu.
There's longevity in the Dick Wolf series, whether it's the Law & Order franchise or One Chicago. And by now, viewers have grown accustomed to a revolving door of beloved characters and actors over the years to sustain the series.
But is there a breaking point to that? Will there ever be a point, at least for the One Chicago series, where too many casting changes and a different formula for screentime for budgetary purposes reach a point of no return?

Perhaps you’ve heard but it’s been a very Suits summer.
Despite airing its final episode in September 2019, USA Network’s legal procedural Suits has been the talk of the streaming world ever since its first eight seasons arrived to Netflix on June 17. All nine seasons have been streaming on Peacock for far longer but Netflix, as the biggest streaming service, tends to drive the most attention. Per Nielsen, Suits has already broken its own streaming record with 3.7 billion minutes viewed the first week of July and viewership intensity doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
The potential reasons for Suits‘ surge in popularity are manyfold. While the dual WGA and Sga strikes shouldn’t have led to an extended pause in summer content in theory, some studios have juggled their schedules a bit to weather the storm for the fall season. Additionally, Suits‘ basic cable format...

The Chicago Med season premiere got right into the action, revealing what happened in Halstead’s apartment building after the fire started.
At the end of last season, Milena Jovanovic (the undercover cop) was being hidden by Dr. Dylan Scott in the renovated apartment building that Halstead now owns.
Criminals that Jo was hiding from descended upon the building, setting it on fire while Jo, Scott, Halstead, and Hannah Asher were all still inside. Then, Jo and one of the men got shot, increasing the drama as the show went into its summer hiatus.
Chicago Med Season 8, Episode 1 picked up right at the fire, with Halstead and Scott trying to save the life of the man who had been shot. Meanwhile, Jo, who had also been shot, went out another exit to find safety.

There are changes coming to Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. Both Guy Lockard and Sarah Rafferty, who portrayed Dr. Dylan Scott and Dr. Pamela Blake, respectively, are leaving NBC’s “Chicago Med,” Variety confirms. Additionally, Yaya DaCosta, who exited the show in 2021 after six seasons, has returned as April Sexton.
During the Season 8 premiere Dylan chose to leave his job at the hospital following the death of Jo (Riley Voelkel), an undercover cop he became romantically involved with last season, who died in the ER. Co-showrunners Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov confirmed his exit.
“Right now, we’ve finished that arc of his story, so he is leaving right now, but we have people leave and we have them come back. We’re leaving that door open,” Frolov told Variety. Schneider added, “We love Guy. He did a great job and was wonderful to work with. But what was sort of...

Chicago Med returns with the Season 8 premiere on September 21, and there is a lot of ground to cover.
The show packed in many stories for its Season 7 finale last fall, forcing the writers to deal with a lot of fallout as the show returns.
As has become a regular occurrence with the show, there will also be a few new faces getting introduced along the way.
The biggest cliffhanger that the Chicago Med writers have to resolve is what happened with that fire at the apartment building of Will Halstead.
Dr. Dylan Scott was hiding undercover officer Jo in an unfinished part of Halstead’s building, but things got complicated as he worked to help her get out of town.
While Scott tried to get her out, people connected to the drug case she...

There’s a big reason to look forward to the Christmas party at the end of Chicago Med‘s winter finale, and it’s not just because Dr. Abrams (Brennan Brown) is dressed as Santa. After all, there’s a lot going on in “Secret Santa Has a Gift for You,” executive producers Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider tease: Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) has his and Sharon Goodwin’s (S. Epatha Merkerson) VasCom investigation on his mind (after she’d told him to put it on hold); Dr. Stevie Hammer (Kristin Hager) and Dr. Vanessa Taylor (Asjha Cooper) are both trying to keep secrets; and among the patients are a four-month-old as well as a man who needs a liver transplant, which has Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains), Dr. Pamela Blake (Sarah Rafferty), and Abrams working together. Frolov and Schneider hint at what to expect, reveal when Dr. Ethan Choi...

Ivor Novello last film: 'Autumn Crocus' (photo: Ivor Novello and Fay Compton in 'Autumn Crocus') Can a plain looking, naive spinster school teacher ever find real love in faraway places? This was a question asked by Shirley Booth in Arthur Laurents' 1952 stage play The Time of the Cuckoo; Katharine Hepburn in the 1955 David Lean-directed film version, Summertime (1955); and Elizabeth Allen in the 1965 Richard Rodgers-Steven Sondheim musical adaptation, Do I Hear a Waltz? Can such a woman's yearning for romance ever be satisfied? "Yes" and "No," according to Basil Dean's fine 1934 British film Autumn Crocus, which marked the last film appearance of British stage and screen superstar Ivor Novello (Alfred Hitchcok's The Lodger). Autumn Crocus starts out during the holiday season, when two British schoolteachers decide to spend their vacation together on the Continent. Soft-hearted Jenny Grey (Fay Compton) longs to see the Austrian Alps,...
