In a world where there are a lot of indie filmmakers doing it wrong, it's refreshing when it's done right.
Now, I'm not talking about film quality or tired stories etc. I'm talking about old fashioned "We actually give a shit about our fans and want them to know." It's about the little things.
Running a horror website for over seven years in the red with no steady income stream generated by the site can get quite discouraging. What makes it worse is when filmmakers and producers feel they are gracing you with their film and doing you a favor by "letting you" watch their movie's, forgetting that the professional rout is to offer a screener for review consideration.
Here at MoreHorror we try to get to as many screeners as we can, but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Sometimes, there's no real incentive, just a sense of expectation,...

A few months ago, we premiered the trailer for Frankenstein Created Bikers, which had a ton of hits from fans of the upcoming film. Well, I've finally seen it, and I've got to admit that it's even more insane than the trailer lets on. Shot on 35mm after a successful Kickstarter campaign, Frankenstein is a love letter to exploitation films carved into a bullet --- and sent skyrocketing into the air after several beers on the Fourth of July at a biker rally. This exploitation-sci-fi-cult-horror film extravaganza was directed by James Bickert (it's a sequel of sorts to his flick Dear God No!) and stars Tristan Risk, Ellie Church, Jett Bryant, Laurence R. Harvey, and a cast of others. The above actors are the best of the bunch in...

Christmas is a time for feel-good movies. It’s a Wonderful Life, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and the usual Hallmark Hall of Fame drivel that hits the airwaves every December. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the mainstream Christmas classics as much as the next guy. But at night, when my family is all snug in their beds, that’s when I drag out my sick and twisted Christmas collection…
Black Christmas, Christmas Evil, Silent Night Deadly Night, Don’t Open Till Christmas, those are the films I like to cuddle up to with a spiked eggnog. What is my favorite? That’s a difficult question. I love them all for different reasons, but if I had to pick one, I would have to pick a recent import from Finland called Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. A modern mashup of The Thing and the Krampus mythology, it is...

★★☆☆☆ Shot like a 1970s grindhouse flick complete with jump cuts, appalling dialogue and horrendous scenes of gratuitous violence, James Bickert's biker horror Dear God No! (2011) is a rampant, filthy and debauched watch that will test all but the most hardened of exploitation aficionados. Banned in 19 countries, the film follows the brutal path of destruction laid down by an outlaw motorcycle gang - The Impalers - as they rape and pillage their way en route to the home of an anthropologist with a big secret. A vile and horrific home invasion ensues that reveals an underhand story of incestual lust, genetic manipulation and bizarre Nazi adoration.

Dear God No!
Stars: Jett Bryant, Madeline Brumby, Paul McComiskey, Olivia Lacroix, Shane Morton, Johnny Collins, Nik Morgan | Written and Directed by James Bickert
Blame Quentin Taranino and Robert Rodriguez. Since their Death Proof and Planet Terror double bill, Grindhouse, named for the genre they were paying tribute to, surfaced in 2007, there’s been resurgence in cheap and cheerful exploitation and horror films. They generally involve copious amounts of gore, lots of exposed breasts, an illustrated montage poster and plenty of nods to the genre’s seventies heyday. Films such as Machete, Hobo with a Shotgun, Drive Angry, Iron Sky and to some extent Black Dynamite are all examples of the revival of the genre. Whilst to some extent, grindhouse never went away, it never got the kind of attention it currently enjoys and one imagines that a lot of films have been made since that never would have before.

No, of course we aren't lamenting the news of another fear flick hitting DVD shelves. Rather, we're bringing the news of the UK DVD release of director James Bickert's exploitation-laden Dear God No!, gearing up to smack you in the face on January 14, 2013, courtesy of Monster Pictures. Feast on the goodies here, and check out the Very Nsfw trailer!
Synopsis:
Dear God No! is a tribute to a lost regional drive-in film from 1976 that doesn’t rely heavily on computer gimmicks and cuts to the core of what made these low-budget films shockingly fun. Shot entirely on Super 16Mm Fuji film and using equipment from the era, Dear God No! is a drive-in and grindhouse lover's dream. No pretty actors - just a rocking original soundtrack, bikers, babes, and blood and as many naked breasts as the script would allow.

While certainly not to everyone's tastes, there's no denying that James Bickert's Dear God No! has its heart in the right place - just before it's ripped out and eaten by a big hairy woodland monster. Shot on Super 16mm and harking back to the exploitation biker movies that played the 70s drive-in circuit, the film promises plenty of blood, boobs and beer-chugging biker gangs - and if you live in London, you can catch it on the big screen absolutely free.Hitting UK DVD on 14 January courtesy of Monster Pictures, Dear God No! will receive its UK premiere this Thursday, 15 November, at The Horse Hospital, as part of Bizarre Magazine's monthly Cut screenings (see link below for more details). Full disclosure: I’ve never been a huge fan of biker flicks. When they’re done right, the end result is nothing short of pure cinematic bliss wrapped in a warm, fuzzy, bug-infested beard. Of course, when the filmmakers fumble the cinematic ball, chances are you won’t make it past the twenty-minute mark without either walking out of the theater or turning off your television in frustration. There’s really no grey area when it comes to this sort of exploitation flick, so those who embark down this road should tread lightly. Very, very lightly. Writer/director James Bickert’s 2011 grindhouse throwback “Dear God No!” really tries its best to be something utterly ridiculous, something genuinely outrageous. And, admittedly, there are moments when the movie rises to the challenge, but these bits are simply too few and far between to matter. As a low-budget apologist, I’m willing to overlook shoddy acting,...

A Planet Fury-approved selection of notable genre releases for June.
Harold and Maude (1972) Criterion Blu-ray and DVD Available Now
Forty years later, this 1972 Hal Ashby cult favorite remains a lovably eccentric meditation on life. The romance between a death-obsessed youth (an adorable Bud Cort) and a vivacious geriatric (the mythic Ruth Gordon) is still as beguiling and heartfelt as it was upon its original release. Written by Colin Higgins (9 to 5, Foul Play) and featuring an iconic soundtrack with several Cat Stevens hits, this is a must-have release for cult film buffs.
The much-anticipated Criterion release features:
A new high-definition digital restoration with uncompressed monaural soundtrack, optional remastered stereo soundtrack, audio commentary by Hal Ashby, Nick Dawson and Charles B. Mulvehill, illustrated audio excerpts of seminars by Ashby and Colin Higgins, new interview with songwriter Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens), plus a booklet featuring an essay by critic Michael Wood and more!

This week saw the DVD release of Big World Pictures' Dear God No! - an exploitation biker grindhouse flick by James Bickert that tossed a lil' bit of Bigfoot fun into the mix. Sadly, a copy was never sent our way for review consideration. That's cool, we'll let you guys discover this indie which boasted one helluva poster. (You tell us what you thought.)
Speaking of posters, a new one-sheet for the latest film from director Bickert has arrived. His next high-octane opus is called Frankenstein Created Bikers and, once again, the poster (by Tom Hodge aka The Dude Designs) rules - I look at this image and I smell gasoline, Pbr, cigarettes and, well, a few other things... The film is currently in pre-production; we'll keep you posted when more details arrive. In the meantime, check out the official Dear God No! official site.

Check out a first "Frankenstein Created Bikers" poster which is both entertaining well-designed. The horror directed by James Bickert opens some time 2013, with a cast including Shane Morton, Paul McComiskey, Nik Morgan and John Collins. Never heard of this film, the helmer, or the cast before, and can you blame me? "Frankenstein Created Bikers" from Big World Pictures' is currently in pre-production phase and follows “Dear God No!” As far as "Dear God No!" goes, the film follows outlaw motorcycle gang The Impalers through a murder spree that ends in a home invasion gone terribly wrong when they attack two graduate students, a disgraced Anthropologist and his teenage daughter. A demonic creature in the woods, a deadly secret in the basement, rivers of blood and abundant nudity add to the surprises that are sure to thrill genre fans.

The home video boom of the early ‘80s changed the horror and exploitation film landscape forever.
Obscure, low-budget films from the past became more accessible and gave horror fans a chance to see those titles only read about in Famous Monsters and Fangoria. The rise of “mom and pop” rental shops also helped to put the final nail in the coffin of the independent movie houses. Drive-in theaters and past-their-prime “hardtops” (affectionately known as grindhouses) that exhibited first-run, low-budget genre films slowly began to disappear.
Why would exploitation audiences take the trouble to go to the drive-in when they could create their own lurid triple-feature at home? Not only did the home video market change the way low budget films were seen, it also greatly altered the quality of the productions when the “direct-to-video” wave hit. Say what you will about the micro-budgeted genre films of the ‘60s and ‘70s...

Dear God No! has found a representative to take the film to the upcoming Efm (European Film Market) in Berlin and Cannes this year.
Archstone Distribution picked up the title and will attempt to find this grindhouse flick a home through its Tombstone Distribution label.
Writer-director James Bickert says, "Response during our festival and theatrical North American screenings has been fantastic. Through this deal and the offers for domestic distribution we’re currently fielding, we can unleash on the world this twisted fairy tale for beer drinkers and hell-raisers. This is the kind of film I love to watch."
A sequel for Dear God No! is currently in pre-production.

It's true, I don't know if you've heard the story, but it's true…every time an indie film gets distro an angel gets its wings…or maybe it's a Hellspawn gets its chains…one or the other. Regardless, the important news here is that the award-winning brutal biker film, Dear God No!, has grabbed a distribution deal with Archstone Distribution.
Written and directed by James Bickert, Dear God No! had a great run at film festivals last year and looks to continue that success with this distribution deal with Archstone (the fine people who also distroed Machete and both Human Centipede films). The movie stars Jett Bryant, Madeline Brumby, Olivia Lacroix, Paul McComiskey, John Collins, Shane Morton, Nick Morgan, Rusty Stache, Jim Sligh, Billy Ratliff, Johnny McGowen, John Collins, Heath Street, Rachelle Lynn, Nick Hood and Jim Stacy. After wrapping up a successful week long theatrical run in Atlanta and Portland, the award winning Bikers vs. Bigfoot film Dear God No! is invading Ontario, Canada. James Bickert’s Super 16mm throwback to the 70′s packs in all the bullets, blood, boobs and booze one would expect from the golden era of exploitation horror.

The 2nd annual PollyGrind assaults Las Vegas during an epic length film festival that runs Oct. 8-17 at Theatre 7 with enough sleaze and violence to make Sin City residents feel right at home.
Actually, the fest does open up on the 7th with a concert at Neon Venus with local acts like Monster Zero, Creepersin and many more.
However, the film portion of the fest opens on the 8th with Stuart Simpson‘s acclaimed Australian gorefest El Monstro Del Mar!, one of the best Russ Meyer/Roger Corman mash-ups with a Down Under twist. Read the Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film review of this gem here.
Other Bad Lit favorites in the lineup are Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s The Taint, which is still completely grossing out audiences on the festival circuit, and The Uh-Oh Show, the splatter-filled horror comedy by the Godfather of Gore himself Herschell Gordon Lewis.

Warning: 100% Nsfw! A brutal biker gang terrorize the American southwest on a murder and rape spree that leaves an untold number of victims in its wake.
But this gang of bloodthirsty butchers may get their comeuppance when they come across an innocent young girl harboring a dark secret in her basement: A secret with giant fangs, claws and an appetite for human flesh.
Directed by James Bickert, Dear God No! is directed in the popular neo-grindhouse style and features plenty of the three B’s of exploitation cinema: Boobs, beasts and blood. (Hence the Nsfw trailer.)
Dear God No! can next be seen at the Arizona Underground Film Festival on Sep. 22. The festival is currently running in Tucson, Az as of this posting and will end on Sep. 24.

We recently told you about the upcoming PollyGrind Film Festival, one of the premiere grindhouse film festivals, that's set to celebrate all-things B-Movie style in Las Vegas this October. The madman behind the festival, Chad Clinton Freeman, announced today this year's PollyGrind line-up and it looks pretty sweet!
And not only is PollyGrind celebrating films, the fest is also celebrating several indie music acts slated to perform during the fest, a Zombiepalooza celebration and a whole lot more! Read on for all the details for the Second Annual PollyGrind Film Festival!
From the Press Release:
It's been called "the key festival for indie cult filmmakers to land distribution deals." Its founder and programmer has been called the "new champion of unabashed B-movie sleaze." Those praises might seem a bit outlandish, but with the official announcement of the PollyGrind Film Festival's schedule, it's easy to see where they come from.

The Arizona Underground Film Festival keeps picking and screening the best in world extreme cinema and their fourth annual edition, which will run Sep. 16-24 in Tucson is no exception, compiling outrageous cult epics from countries such as Japan, Switzerland and Cuba; as well as some local nastiness produced in the fest’s own backyard.
The fest opens with Jack Perez’s Some Guy Who Kills People, a comedy thriller executive produced by John Landis and starring Kevin Corrigan as a loser who gets sadistic revenge on those he feels have wronged him.
While the opening night film is a big name affair, Auff is also celebrating local freaky film fare with films such as the film noir Sweet Love and Deadly, directed by Paul Clinco; and the horror comedy Dick Night, directed by Andy Viner.

Black Devil Doll. Hobo With A Shotgun. Now, can writer/director James Bickert's up-coming Dear God, No!, an up-coming slice of sleaze covered cheese, create a special stench all it's own among aficionados of bargain basement film making?Lensed, by design, in glorious Super 16mm, to achieve a "heavily saturated image with some grain, to resemble drive-in classics like I Drink Your Blood", Bickert and cinematographer Johnathan Hilton planned their low-rent asses off, then shot all the principle footage in a week. The synopsis is as follows -"After a gruesome battle with rival a club, "Satan's Own", the surviving members of the "Impalers" motorcycle gang two witnesses, tracking them to anthropologist Dr. Marco's secluded mountain cabin. Taking advantage of what seem like easy marks for the...

Marina actually posted some lengthy thoughts on this flick when we posted the trailer way back in may, but now there's a cool new poster.
Great poster hey? Probably because it was designed by Tom Hodge the maniac behind the fantastic Hobo With a Shotgun posters. We don't know much about Dear God No! but something tells me James Bickert's exploitation flick about "a biker gang exploitation flick about "The Impalers" who go on a murder spree then pull a home invasion on a disgraced Anthropologist "with a secret" won't hold a candle to Eisner's already classic Canuck shocker.
That's about it really. Thanks to First Showing for the heads up on this one.
You'll find the fairly insane Nsfw trailer and a larger version of the poster below.
Enter at own risk!

Coming courtesy of Bloody Disgusting, here’s the first poster (by the Dude Designs no less) and trailer for the grindhouse-style flick Dear God No! which is written and directed by James Bickert, who was previously responsible for the sleazefest that was Dumpster Baby.
Outlaw motorcycle gang The Impalers tri-state rape and murder spree ended in a bloody massacre with rival club Satan’s Own. The surviving members sought refuge in a secluded cabin deep in the North Georgia mountains. What first must of seemed like easy prey for a home invasion, became a living nightmare of depravity and violence. A young innocent girl being held captive may hold the key to the twisted secrets locked in the basement and the killing machine feasting on human flesh in the forest outside.

We first told you about Dear God No! here, a kick-ass, old school biker flick that’s filled to the brim with bikers, babes, blood, and boobs, and yet, there’s more in a Bigfoot(!) appearance, and while director James Bickert (re-read our interview here) has been finalizing the film in post, a great new poster has showed up by The Dude Designs.
You might recognize the artist from such great posters already in Hobo with a Shotgun, The Innkeepers, Father’s Day and The Legend of the Psychotic Forest Ranger.

When the blood begins to flow, who will be left to scream. Ohh boy, this looks frickin' crazy! I'm not sure where this came from, but Bloody-Disgusting has posted the trailer and poster, designed by Tom Hodge (he also did the Hobo With a Shotgun posters), for James Bickert's Dear God No!, a biker gang exploitation flick about The Impalers who go on a murder spree then pull a home invasion on a disgraced Anthropologist "with a secret." Somehow there's a monster, plenty of crazy killing, lots of women, I don't even know but it looks insane. Most of this is uncensored and Nsfw, so be cautious with all the Dear God No! content below. Here's the official Dear God No! poster, thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, but it's uncensored so watch out!
