Sherry Lansing, Mayim Bialik, Debra Messing, David Mamet, Gene Simmons, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and Scooter Braun are among the high-profile entertainment industry figures who have added their names to a counter-petition organized by the Creative Community for Peace in response to a letter published earlier this week calling for a boycott of “Israeli cultural institutions that are complicit or have remained silent observers of the overwhelming oppression of Palestinians.”
The initial open letter, which refers to the Israel-Gaza conflict as a “genocide,” counts as its signatories more than 1,000 writers including Normal People author Sally Rooney, Naomi Klein, Rachel Kushner, Annie Ernaux, Percival Everett and Jonathan Lethem.
The counter-petition “reject[s] the calls to boycott Israel and Jewish writers, publishers, authors, book festivals and literary agencies, along with those who support, work with, or platform them” and argues that “the instincts and motivations behind cultural boycotts, in practice and throughout history,...

It’s three years since Ken Jennings stepped up to become Jeopardy! host (along with the since-departed Mayim Bialik) and faced the seemingly impossible task of succeeding the late, much-loved Alex Trebek. After a period of sharing hosting duties with Bialik, there is no doubt that Jennings has made the job his own. In fact, viewers seem to appreciate the fresh energy he has brought to Jeopardy! It’s a remarkable achievement for someone with little prior TV experience (aside from being the greatest-ever contestant on the very show he now hosts). There is no doubt that Ken has his quirks, like the way he gets holier-than-thou after a triple-stumper, or his sometimes awkward reaction to things that happen or are said during the show. But Ken offers empathy during the interview segments, witty add-ons to clues, and an unwavering ability to preside over the most fast-paced specials like Jeopardy!

When Ken Jennings apologizes for a painfully gross Jeopardy question, you know that someone’s going to have to explain what happened.
Sometimes, Jeopardy can be weirdly insensitive in an effort to be topical.
Other times, it’s a little harder to understand how the cultural touchstone game show could so widely miss the mark.
This time, Jeopardy‘s question was sexist. It also sounded as if it were about a contestant. Thankfully, Ken Jennings offered a swift apology.

The Big Bang Theory, with its amazing ensemble of actors and funny storylines, has kept the audience hooked to the screens for several decades now. While the sitcom ended all the way back in 2019, it still continues to enjoy a huge fan following. Initially, when it came out, it was viewed as just another sitcom with the same premise and characters.

But soon it was established why it was different from any other series out there. Along with 12 laughter-filled seasons, Tbbt also boasted a plethora of storylines. Last night’s episode of Jeopardy! used a dated, sexist clue, leading host Ken Jennings to apologize to a female contestant.
During the category Complete the Rhyming Phrase, the three contestants were given the phrase, “Men seldom make passes at …” The answer was: ” … girls who wear glasses.” Returning champion Will Wallace answered, but another contestant, Heather Ryan, was wearing glasses herself.
After acknowledging that Wallace had the correct answer, Jennings admitted that the phrase, coined by Dorothy Parker, didn’t hold up. “A little problematic — sorry, Heather,” Jennings said. Wallace...

Fans of “The Big Bang Theory” and “Blossom” are in for a treat during Mayim Bialik’s upcoming “Night Court” guest star spot, which Melissa Rauch teases includes “many” Easter eggs for both shows.
“People can expect to see many ‘Big Bang’ Easter eggs, both ‘Big Bang’ Easter eggs and ‘Blossom’ Easter eggs throughout the episode,” Rauch told TheWrap of the Season 3 episode.
The sitcom will serve as an on-screen reunion for Rauch and Bialik after last starring together on “The Big Bang Theory,” with Rauch saying, “We have, of course, kept in touch since ‘Big Bang,’ although we haven’t been on set together since our season finale.” Bialik will also reunite with John Larroquette after she appeared on “The John Larroquette Show” in the ’90s.
In the upcoming episode, Bialik will play what Rauch calls a “bizarro version of Mayim” as the former takes the stand as a night court defendant.

Jeopardy! has been dealt considerable blows over the last four years, and the show has evolved.
Unfortunately, fans are now questioning whether the series they’ve loved for so long has deviated too much from what it once was.
Jeopardy! remains as popular as ever, but we can’t deny that the show has changed drastically since Alex Trebek died in 2020.
He was the heart and soul of the series, and his infectious personality drew many viewers to every episode.
There were enough episodes already filmed to keep the late host on-screen until early 2021, but then the problems with the show started.
Producers were unsure how to find a new host, so a rotating panel of celebrity hosts kept the lights on.
In August 2021, longtime executive producer Mike Richards succeeded Alex but resigned a little over a week later because a series of scandals overshadowed the popular show.

"The Big Bang Theory" featured plenty of famous guest stars — like a bunch of "Star Trek" veterans, the late James Earl Jones, and Bob Newhart, just to name a few — but some celebrities either turned down the chance to be a part of Chuck Lorre's show or just missed the boat somehow. Macaulay Culkin was asked to play an unspecified lead role and said no, while Marisa Tomei elected not to play Penny (a role that ultimately went to Kaley Cuoco). According to Jessica Radloff's book "The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series," pop star and actor Selena Gomez actually really wanted to appear on "The Big Bang Theory," but the show couldn't make it work with her schedule.

When a show runs for a really long time, continuity mistakes and storyline errors are bound to pop up — but this one from "The Big Bang Theory" feels just a little bit egregious, to be honest. So what is it? Sheldon Cooper, as played by Jim Parsons, is supposed to be allergic to cats, but then an entire episode centers around the fact that he adopts like, a dozen cats.
At the very beginning of the series — the show's third-ever episode "The Fuzzy Boots Corollary" — it's firmly established that Sheldon is allergic to felines, which doesn't feel particularly surprising based on his character; he's obsessed with cleanliness and order, so an allergy to household pets dovetails nicely with his need for everything to be proper and perfect.
This character trait only becomes a problem in the show's fourth season — specifically, in the season's third episode "The Zazzy Substitution" — when Sheldon,...

If you're a fan of "The Big Bang Theory," you probably can't imagine anyone besides Jim Parsons playing Sheldon Cooper, the irritatingly brilliant protagonist around whom the rest of the main characters — Leonard and Penny Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco), Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar), Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), and Sheldon's eventual wife Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) — all orbit. Apparently, during the casting process, Chuck Lorre had some concerns about Parsons as a performer, according to his co-creator Bill Prady.
During a 2021 appearance on the "At Home with the Creative Coalition" podcast (per People Magazine), Prady remembered exactly why Lorre didn't want to cast Parsons. "We saw — oh God, I don't know, 100 people?" Prady said. "And when Jim Parsons came in, he was Sheldon on a level — you know, there were people who came in and you went, 'Okay, well, he's kind of okay,' 'Oh, he's pretty good,...

In the world of comedy, making a unique mark is not an easy feat, and only a few sitcoms have managed to leave a lasting impression on the audience. While Friends captured the hearts of millions, after its conclusion, The Big Bang Theory took over the screens with its brilliant comedic timing and sometimes hard-to-understand science jargon.

Did The Big Bang Theory foreshadow Sheldon’s relationship with Amy? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
When The Big Bang Theory first aired, it focused on four geeky scientists. But then Penny entered, and the whole scenario changed. But then, in season 3, Mayim Bialik appeared as Amy Farrah Fowler. Although Amy officially debuted in the Season 3 finale, hints of her arrival had been dropped since Season 1. In The Bat Jar Conjecture, Raj (Kunal Nayyar) jokingly mentioned, “You know who is very smart is the girl who played TV’s Blossom,” referring to Bialik herself.
Sure, it was just a throwaway gag at the time, but it indicated that the writers had Bialik—and, by extension, Amy—on their minds long before they pulled the trigger on her character. Who knew a simple joke about a sitcom star would one day lead to Sheldon’s perfect match?

Galecki played the role of one of the four lovable geeks in the series, Leonard Hofstadter. While Galecki’s breakthrough role was in the classic sitcom Roseanne, Tbbt made him a star overnight.

The fans of the sitcom know almost everything about their favorite stars. However, their height has always been a point of discussion amongst the viewers.

Get ready for a Big Bang Theory reunion on Night Court! See who Mayim Bialik is playing on the NBC sitcom!
Fans of Night Court are already used to the comedic styling of star Melissa Rauch thanks to her years on The Big Bang Theory. While she wasn't part of the original cast, Rauch soon connected with fans as Bernadette, showing fantastic comedic chops and a great style. She rose up with a marriage to Howard as well as raising a family.
She was a good contrast to Mayim Bialik as the former Blossom star was also notable on the series as Amy, Sheldon's future wife. After Tbbt ended, Rauch moved on to Night Court, a sequel series to the 1984-1992 NBC sitcom. She plays Abby Stone, daughter of Judge Harry Stone (the late Harry Anderson), who now presides over the same Manhattan courthouse that sees a flood of weirdos.

The Big Bang Theory, besides becoming one of the greatest sitcoms ever, also earned a name for becoming a pop culture phenomenon. The intelligent humor and weird scientific jokes generated multiple iconic moments and memorable dialogues that are still discussed by fans. Surprisingly, Sheldon Cooper’s favorite comic word was never planned for the script and has a strange origin story.

Ever since "The Big Bang Theory" ended back in 2019, fans of the CBS sitcom have frequently wondered if stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kunal Nayyar, Simon Helberg, and Kaley Cuoco might ever come back to the roles that made them famous. Some, like Parsons, have — he's played the oldest possible version of Sheldon Cooper on the first spin-off of "The Big Bang Theory," the prequel series "Young Sheldon" — but Cuoco hasn't played Penny Hofstadter since the series finale of the original show. "The Big Bang Theory" may have broken its own reality by casting Mayim Bialik in its third season. That's because the show mentioned the actress back in season 1 -- a reference that made her later appearance a bit more meta and paradoxical than the show usually gets.
Bialik comes up in the show's thirteenth episode, "The Bat Jar Conjecture," when Sheldon (Jim Parsons) gets booted from the core group's physics bowl team. In search of a new fourth member, the guys start brainstorming, and Raj's first idea is a bit out there. "You know who's apparently very smart, is the girl who played TV's Blossom," Kunal Nayyar's character says. "She got a PhD in neuroscience or something!"

Kaley Cuoco is ready to bring Penny Hofstadter back to screen, saying she’d happily join some sort of Big Bang Theory revival. “I spent 12 years playing that role, and it really set off my career,” Cuoco tells People in a new interview. “I owe a lot to that character, to that show, to [creator] Chuck Lorre. It was some of the best years of my life, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had. … I would absolutely reprise that role. 100 percent.” On The Big Bang Theory, Cuoco’s Penny is an aspiring actor who moves into a Pasadena apartment across the hall from nerdy physicists Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar were other original stars of the show, playing scientists Howard Wolowitz and Raj Koothrappali, respectively. Later cast additions included Sara Gilbert, Melissa Rauch, Mayim Bialik, Kevin Sussman, and Laura Spencer.

Throughout its 12 season and 12 year run, Chuck Lorre's blockbuster CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" played host to a ton of guest stars, from several "Star Trek" veterans to the late James Earl Jones and the legendary scholar Stephen Hawking. According to an oral history of the series, though, one particular Oscar winner, Sandra Bullock, had to turn down a role in the series finale, "The Stockholm Syndrome," due to scheduling conflicts.
In Jessica Radloff's 2022 book "The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series," executive producer Steve Holland revealed that the show's creatives tried to book Bullock for a short cameo opposite Kunal Nayyar's character Raj Koothrappali in the episode, but she wasn't available, so "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar stepped in. So, what was the scene in question?...

Mayim Bialik always had Jim Parsons in her corner, and that’s something she’ll never forget. Back when The Big Bang Theory was still dominating screens, Parsons went to bat for Bialik, standing up to the show’s producers when things got heated. He wasn’t just playing a genius on TV—he was one behind the scenes too, making sure Bialik got the respect she deserved.

Among the many standout characters on "The Big Bang Theory" is Amy (Mayim Bialik), who was introduced in the season 3 finale as the only woman in the world who could possibly be a viable love interest for Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). Introduced as robotic and blunt, Amy turns out to not just be one of the only characters who can match Sheldon's freak, but she also proves vital to softening Sheldon up and turning him into a slighter kinder, slightly healthier person. Although Penny (Kaley Cuoco) is probably the biggest catalyst for Sheldon's growth over the series, the importance of Amy for Sheldon's character arc can't be overstated. Still, her role on the series was very nearly cut short.
"After my episode in the season three finale, I literally thought my character might never come back," Bialik said in a 2022 interview. "I had been out of the industry for...

The “Big Bang Theory” spinoff series in the works at Max has found its first three cast members.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the October 9 episode of Jeopardy!] Jeopardy! champ Mark Fitzpatrick sailed to his fourth win on Wednesday, October 9, but the episode wasn’t without its wave-making moments, including a contestant being introduced as “a girl-between-gigs.” Content manager Fitzpatrick from Riverside, Connecticut entered with a three-day total of $58,000, facing Robert Franke, a data analyst from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and Colleen Kelly (her profession above) from Melrose, Massachusetts. In the Jeopardy! round, despite losing $2400 on a True Daily Double, Mark was at his most comfortable, gameplay and personality-wise. After a humorous anecdote about a study abroad “boat-train” mixup with a German accent punchline (“Clazzic Americans”), he had rebounded to $5,400, Rob had $2,600, and Colleen $0. In the mix was a $600 clue in the “TV Coupling” category, entailing naming famous TV couples. The clue was: “Sheldon & Amy, pure genius.” Colleen correctly responded: “What is The Big Bang Theory?” Mayim Bialik played Amy Farrah Fowler on the iconic CBS ...

A whole bunch of iconic performers appeared on "The Big Bang Theory" throughout its twelve-season run; hell, the list of "Star Trek" veterans who popped up on Chuck Lorre's sitcom is a pretty hefty list all by itself. Most of the time, people like William Shatner or James Earl Jones simply played larger-than-life versions of themselves, but sometimes TV legends would show up to have a little fun ... like Bob Newhart, who was a repeat guest star on "The Big Bang Theory" as Sheldon Cooper's (Jim Parsons) childhood idol Professor Proton, also known as Arthur Jeffries.
Apparently, Newhart's first day on the set of "The Big Bang Theory" was seriously emotional for everyone involved ... especially Newhart himself, who found himself totally overwhelmed by the live audience's effusive reaction. As Jim Parsons told Parade, tears were shed.

Lady Gaga’s Joker: Folie à Deux and Adam Driver’s Megalopolis are currently locked in a box office competition. Both films were released a week apart, but their theatrical performances couldn’t be more different from one another. In 2017, two years before "The Big Bang Theory" came to a close after twelve years and the same number of seasons, two of the show's newer cast members kicked off negotiations over their pay. What ended up happening? The rest of the cast rallied behind them ... and made sure that everyone in the ensemble would be paid fairly.

The four male leads on "The Big Bang Theory" — Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper, Johnny Galecki as Leonard Hofstadter, Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz, and Kunal Nayyar as Raj Koothrappali — feel so synonymous with their roles on Chuck Lorre's sitcom that it's hard to imagine transplanting them onto any of the show's other competitors. As it turns out, though, Parsons very nearly played a very different TV character: specifically, Barney Stinson, the role ultimately portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris on "How I Met Your Mother" (which also aired on CBS).

"It was one of the stranger experiences of my life," Parsons recalled. "Because you know how it is to audition for things. They come out with character breakdowns and stuff,...

“Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever”, Walt Disney once said—a sentiment that echoes throughout the iconic sitcom, The Big Bang Theory. This 12-season CBS favorite continues to enchant audiences both young & old with its alluring format where each character navigates life’s ups and downs with a comedic flair.
At its core, the series spotlights Penny, portrayed by Kaley Cuoco, whose journey from an aspiring actress from Omaha to an integral part of an otherwise all-male ensemble is as relatable as it is entertaining.

Has Penny always been just the girl next door, or is she, in fact, the beam around which the show orbits? Well, initially, the show set its sights on her life as a young woman from Omaha seeking her place in the bustling metropolis of Los Angeles.

Mayim Bialik’s Amy Farrah Fowler might’ve charmed The Big Bang Theory fans with her quirky personality, but let’s be real—her character had some seriously questionable moments, especially when it came to Penny. Sure, their friendship was fun to watch, but Amy’s borderline obsessive behavior and harsh jabs towards our blonde girl often flew under the radar. Somehow, Bialik pulled it off, and many fans seemed to shrug it off.

In the early 1970s, a miracle discovery forever shifted the momentum of the entertainment industry. The discovery pertained to the script of Good Times, the sitcom based on an African-American family living in a public housing project in a poor black neighborhood in Chicago.

But before John Amos, Jimmy Walker, and Esther Rolle could lift the series into the upper echelons of legacy television, the world already rushed to bestow that honor on Good Times. The sitcom soon became a revolutionary symbol of Black television, helping break the racial barrier and the stereotypical assignment of Black actors in mere supporting character roles.
As the world now mourns John Amos’s tragic passing, the fans look back at the historic presence of the actor in one of his most impressive works in TV.
