Samuel E. Beetley was born on November 23, 1913 in San Antonio, Texas, USA. He was a production manager and editor, known for The Longest Day (1962), Out of the Past (1947) and Soylent Green (1973). He died on September 15, 1988 in Santa Cruz, California, USA.
Worked as editor at RKO from 1946 to 1952, then moving to 20th Century Fox, first as editor (1952-67), then as post-production supervisor. He latterly worked in television for Aaron Spelling Productions. Beetley won two Emmy Awards.
