We first crossed paths with Isaac Dixon in The Last of Us Part II; the leader of the Washington Liberation Front, he's an antagonist in the game and someone it appears we'll soon learn more about.
A newly revealed set photo (first shared on GameFragger.com) from The Last of Us season 2 shows Jeffrey Wright suited up as a younger version of the villain. The game only revealed a few minor details about his past, including the fact he moved to Seattle after serving in the United States Marine Corps. In the present, he's Abby's boss and she's his most trusted soldier.
Interestingly, the uniform suggests Isaac is working for Fedra at this point in the timeline, suggesting the TV series will explore how and why he turned on them after becoming one of the many people who rebelled against military control.

Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot has rightly generated hype considering the kind of updates that have come out thus far. While the characters were previously featured in the 20th Century Fox series, perhaps the most accurate depiction from the comics happened in 1994’s Fantastic Four: The Animated Series, as it featured multiple narratives taken straight from various traditional DC arcs.
The titular theory, which suggests that the upcoming movie might as well feature the same characters from the timeline seen in the animated offering makes sense on various fronts. Furthermore, it will also pave the way for the potential inclusion of the X-Men ‘97 characters in a future live-action movie.

When Marvel Studios announced that they would be making a film on Marvel’s First Family, fans couldn’t be more excited. After a few failed attempts at bringing them to life the Marvel Cinematic Universe ignited fans’ hope that justice will finally be done to the fan-favorite characters. However, after Pedro Pascal was cast as Mister Fantastic a.k.a. Reed Richards, fans were a bit disappointed.

On February 14, 2024, Pedro Pascal was confirmed to be playing Reed Richards in Marvel Studios' upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie (/Film broke this fantastic scoop early).
More recently, reporting has claimed that before Pascal was locked in, British actor Rahul Kohli was in the running to play Reed. Kohli had been a popular fancasting choice for Reed Richards -- much like John Krasinski, who ended up playing a Reed variant in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness." /Film even named Kohli as one of the actors we'd prefer to see play Mister Fantastic more than Krasinski. So, the idea that he came close to getting the part created intrigue.
But it's not true; Kohli was not in the running to play Mister Fantastic (at least outside fans' hearts and minds). The news sparked after a recent interview between Kohli and Salaam Nerds. During said interview, Kohli acknowledged the fancasts of him...

If you can add Jeffrey Wright to your film/TV series/video game/secondary school play, you add Jeffrey Wright. The Last Of Us game creator Neil Druckmann already knew this, having the Academy Award-nominated actor voice a character called Isaac in The Last Of Us Part II and now he and fellow TV series adaptation show-runner Craig Mazin are keeping that tradition intact, with Wright reprising the role, this time in live action for the show's second season.
Game players will know who he is, but for those whose first experience of the story is the show, we'll look to avoid spoilers by simply quoting the series' official line on the character: "the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy."

When the cast of next year’s The Fantastic Four was announced, a lot of people – including our readers – were left underwhelmed. One decision that failed to push much interest was Pedro Pascal, who was cast as Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic. We all love Pascal but one does have to wonder what somebody else could do with the role; and certainly there were a lot of other names that were either considered or wanted it. One in the latter camp is Rahul Kohli, better known for TV work for Mike Flanagan.
Rahul Kohli recently recalled being passed over for one of the lead roles in The Fantastic Four, saying it represents where he is in his career. “I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine. It will flare up once and again.

Breaking Bad and The Boys star Giancarlo Esposito recently revealed he's joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a mystery role. A few hours ago, a rumour cropped up claiming he'll star in a Disney+ TV series and the actor himself has now confirmed that is indeed the case.
"The MCU has knocked on my door and it's a role you won’t predict," Esposito told fans during a recent convention appearance. "It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards."
This appears to debunk theories he'll voice Norman Osborn in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man as there's nowhere for that villain to be teased before the animated series launches on the streamer either this year or next.
Interestingly, the fan who shared these updates adds that when someone mentioned to Esposito that he'd make an "excellent" Doctor Doom in The Fantastic Four, he mentioned "talking it into existence and making yourself believe in it.

Months ago, Marvel Studios unveiled the actors set to portray the core characters in the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. Pedro Pascal was selected to embody Reed Richards, while Vanessa Kirby was cast as Sue Storm. Joseph Quinn will portray the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will bring The Thing to life. Additionally, Julia Garner will play Shalla-Bal, the MCU’s version of Silver Surfer.
The casting stirred controversy, with much of the criticism aimed at Garner’s portrayal of Silver Surfer. Pedro Pascal also faced scrutiny, with some fans expressing doubt about his suitability for the role of Mr. Fantastic, still holding onto the idea of John Krasinski as Reed Richards.
During a recent interview with Salaam Nerds, Rahul Kohli disclosed that he was in contention for the role but ultimately lost out to the star of ‘The Last of Us.’ He described his feelings about the loss as fluctuating from day to day.

Several months ago Marvel Studios announced the the actors that will be playing the core roles of the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been known for its impeccable casting choices. Whether it was casting the original Avengers or characters in the upcoming movies and shows, the MCU pretty much has been nailing it all. Yet, when it announced the casting of Marvel’s first family, not all fans seemed to be happy. Not only are the cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four older, but some fans believe they aren’t the right choice.

There is little doubt that Marvel has seen a gross loss in quality in recent years, perhaps after the incessant success of Avengers: Endgame. However, things are certainly looking on the up, at least potentially, with a range of exciting projects set to be released in the coming time.
This, quite notably, includes the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, which has been allotted a release date of July 25, 2025, for the time being. Featuring a glut of stars such as Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, it seems as if another superstar of Indian origin, previously seen in CBS’s SuperGirl, Rahul Kohli, was also in the running for a major role.

Rahul Kohli was close to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the actor tried out for a role in the upcoming The Fantastic Four.
The actor from iZombie and The Fall of the House of Usher recently revealed he was being considered for the role of Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards.
“Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine,” Kohli said in an interview with Salaam Nerds. “It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted!’ People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything.”
He continued, “On bad days, ‘It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.

After seemingly endless rumours, Marvel Studios finally announced The Fantastic Four cast earlier this year. Each of them had been linked to the reboot at one time or another, so there were no major surprises for those who had been closely following the casting process.
Oppenheimer star David Krumholtz has confirmed he tried and failed to play the McU's Thing, and now Midnight Mass star Rahul Kohli has revealed that he missed out on being cast as Mister Fantastic.
He was long a fan favourite choice for Reed Richards and, in the video below, admits to being beaten to the part by The Mandalorian's Pedro Pascal.

The Fantastic Four has been rumored to take place in a completely separate universe for the MCU, before making the jump to the Sacred Timeline during the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. There is yet to be official confirmation about whether this is actually going to be the case, but if true, The Fantastic Four will be able to deliver a cliffhanger as big as the one we saw in Avengers: Infinity War.

If Marvel’s The Fantastic Four does indeed take place in a separate universe, this allows the film to take a more liberated approach with its story, as the film would not be beholden to all the development of the mainline MCU. This could encourage the film to deliver a cliffhanger like that of Avengers: Infinity War, which could see the Fantastic Four lose to the antagonist of the film,...

The Last of Us is an award-winning game set in the post-apocalyptic world where players follow Joel and Ellie. They are roaming the world to find the cure for the modern fungal plague which killed most of the population. The storytelling and the gameplay of the game were what made it very popular and an instant classic in the gaming industry.
According to Neil Druckmann, creative director and writer of The Last of Us, the first idea for the game’s story was so bad that they had to rework the whole premise. Studio gave them the time to rethink then he and Bruce Straley came up with the story everyone loved.

Most critics and fans will agree that The Last of Us video game series is one of the best ever. A survival horror on the surface, the game is actually an exceptionally complex post-apocalyptic tale that sends a significant warning, as well as shows some great character development. The game has been adapted into a live-action series by HBO, starring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. The series was a major hit, winning numerous awards and earning praise from fans and critics alike, which, of course, led to a second season, which is being produced as of the time of writing, and we have a very exciting casting update that we want to report about!

As production continues on the second season of HBO's adaptation of best-selling survival horror video game, The Last of Us, we have another late casting addition in the form of an Academy Award-nominated actor.
Variety (via GameFragger.com) reports that Jeffrey Wright has signed on to play Isaac Dixon, the character he provided the voice for in The Last of Us Part II game.

You can't do better than Jeffrey Wright, so why even try? The actor is coming off his first-ever Oscar nod for "American Fiction," which is frankly shocking given the pedigree of his previous work. We're talking about the man who starred in Mike Nichols' "Angels in America" miniseries (reprising the role he played in the original Pulitzer Prize-winning play's Broadway debut), spent 15 years playing Felix Leiter, the coolest cat in the Daniel Craig James Bond movies, and was the Mvp of Matt Reeves' "The Batman" as Jim Gordon. He was also everyone's favorite human-turned-host, Bernard Lowe, across all four seasons of "Westworld" and has recently become a member of Wes Anderson's acting troupe.

The Emmy winner and recent Oscar nominee has joined the cast for season two of The Last of Us, based on the best-selling video game franchise. Wright will have a recurring role as Isaac, the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group. It’s familiar territory for Wright, who provided the voice for Isaac in The Last of Us Part II game.
Wright is one of a number of new additions to the cast for season two, which is in production and slated for a 2025 premiere. The coming season will also feature Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Young Mazino, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord and Danny Ramirez, and Catherine O’Hara will be a guest star.
Leads Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will return, along with fellow season one actors Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley.

Life’s a (permanent) beach for Pedro Pascal in a new Corona commercial titled “La Vida Más Fina (The Finest Life),” a play on the beer’s tagline “La Cerveza Más Fina.”
“I, Tonya” filmmaker Craig Gillespie directs the outrageous short film that captures Pascal wandering through bars, restaurants, and town centers as sand, flora, and fauna beckon him back to the beach. It’s very much a fantasy sequence considering the busy actor has no actual time to vacation.
Pascal will appear in Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II,” Ari Aster’s “Eddington,” and soon make his Marvel debut in the new “Fantastic Four.” Plus, he’s back for “The Last of Us” Season 2 — find a first look here. Oh, and did we mention that Pascal also is teaming up with Dakota Johnson for Celine Song’s romance drama “Materialists”?

The Mandalorian has provided a new avenue for Star Wars to tell expansive stories, with fans falling in love with the journey of Din Djarin and Grogu. The duo will be making the jump to the big screen with the upcoming film The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is expected to commence filming soon, and Pedro Pascal is expected to reprise his role from the live-action series.
Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian will expand Star Wars lore with a theatrical film (Image Credit: Disney+).
In the series, a large focus has been placed on the Mandalorians and their use of Beskar to counter the lightsabers. However, in the upcoming film, another anti-lightsaber weapon could be introduced similar to the Darksaber, which was a major plot point in the three seasons of the series. Here is it makes sense to include this weapon in The Mandalorian & Grogu.

It didn’t take long for the live-action of The Last of Us starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey to become a hit amongst the fans. Not only did it win over the video game aficionados but it also roped in a lot of fresh fans who have never played the game before. On Rotten Tomatoes, season one stands at a high score of 96% meaning that the post-apocalyptic series was loved by both fans and critics.
The Last of Us Season 1 | HBO
Those who have played the video game in its entirety know what the future brings for Pedro Pascal’s Joel and though inevitable, it’s just heart-wrenching! Now, The Last of Us has been a spot-on adaptation, staying faithful to the video game most of the time. However, there is a little deviation in the HBO series regarding Joel’s age which will make the next season even more heartbreaking.

Marvel Studios’ X-Men movie is gaining momentum as the project lands a writer.
Michael Lesslie, who is known for his work on the series The Little Drummer Girl and the recent prequel feature The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, is in talks to pen the new film focused on Marvel Comics’ iconic mutant team, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The feature does not currently have a release date or a director attached.
X-Men remains a popular property for Disney following the recent success of well-reviewed Disney+ animated series X-Men ’97. The show is a reboot of the fondly remembered X-Men: The Animated Series, which launched in 1992.

Nicolas Cage is one of the most respected and talented actors in Hollywood. His works have become ingrained in the very fabric of cinema, establishing him as a true legend. A lot of his success can be credited to his diversity as an actor, being able to star in any genre under the sun. From action to romance, science fiction to drama, no classification is too caging for him.
Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
Despite this, there is still one beloved genre the actor has been absent from; horror. While he has been in some memorable films, they always tie in with other genres like comedy or thrillers. Serious supernatural films are rarely seen from Cage. That was, until now.

Jake Gyllenhaal had a show-stopping “Saturday Night Live” monologue for its Season 49 finale, literally breaking out into song with a Boyz II Men spoof of “End of the Road.”
“We’ve come to the end of the road, it’s the last episode. Time to say goodbye, season 49 — you’ll be 50 soon,” the actor sang alongside impromptu bandmates Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim, Punkie Johnson and Devon Walker.
Riffing on the Grammy-winning R&b act’s 1993 Motown Records single, the highlight of the bit came with Gyllenhaal’s impassioned bridge where he listed all the hosts Lorne Michaels asked to come host for the Season 49 finale before him.
“They asked Pedro Pascal but he wasn’t around. Zendaya said no ’cause she be out of time. Even asked Gosling to come back again, just hosted three shows ago!” Gyllenhaal, capitalizing off his previously Tony Award-nominated singing chops, belted.

It’s the end of the road for Saturday Night Live’s 49th season — and host Jake Gyllenhaal has the perfect way to say goodbye.
During his monologue that kicked off this week’s season finale, Gyllenhaal started out with some thinly veiled complaints that he’s stuck hosting the Season 49 finale and not the landmark Season 50 premiere. (He missed it by that much!) But he was still honored to host an SNL season finale, and he decided to commemorate it with a song, grabbing the mike to croon a version of the classic Boyz II Men torch song “End of the Road.

During the Saturday Night Live monologue, Jake Gyllenhaal seemed to be trying to convince himself that he was Ok with hosting the season 49 finale, rather than the season 50 premiere.
“When you think of historic television seasons, the first number that pops into your head is 49,” Gyllenhaal said. “I mean, sure, you know, one more episode and I would have been hosting the premiere of the 50th season, but who cares?”
The Road House actor later broke out in song to the tune of Boyz II Men’s “End Of The Road,” listing off all the people the sketch comedy series asked to host the season finale before Gyllenhaal.
“You know, I was actually SNL‘s first choice to host the finale after a lot of people said no,” he joked. “I guess they’re all holding out for the 50th but not me.”

Pedro Pascal has always been an extremely prolific actor, and his track record is nothing short of impressive — but he only received real-real recognition after 2019’s The Mandalorian. This instant classic Star Wars TV show saw Pascal become a reluctant father figure for a teenage girl he’d come across in a dangerous world…
But we bet the actor was having severe deja vu while filming it, because by then, he had already done the same thing in an overlooked 2018 sci-fi Western!
Pascal Feels Natural in Father Figure Roles
We’re not even joking: Pedro Pascal’s “reluctant father” archetype started in his 2018 movie Prospect — a low-budget sci-fi drama that didn’t get the recognition it deserved. In Prospect, his character also finds himself in a hostile environment and suddenly has to take care of a teenage girl he stumbles upon out in the wilderness. Fun, isn’t it?

This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97
Beau DeMayo included a lot of cameos in X-Men ’97, all of which were welcomed by fans with a lot of fanfare. Even if you don’t completely agree with some of the changes the first season made to the original story—although we’d argue most of the tweaks, like the Bill story, made The Last of Us even better—there’s no denying the care and passion that was put into bringing this post-apocalyptic tale to live action, including from its stars Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, who perfectly capture the dynamic between Ellie and Joel.
