A dark-haired, exotic femme fatale of German silents, she was loaned out to Hollywood in 1930 to appear in German-language versions of American films (under the direction of William Dieterle). The experience did not lead to major offers from the big studios and she returned home after only a year. She was unable to repeat her earlier popularity during the sound era and her career declined, though she still appeared in supporting roles for the remainder of the 1930's.
