After seeing As good as it gets, I thought that who wrote such a script won't need to do anything else in his entire life. I think that script is perfection.
I'm ashamed I didn't know his name, and stunned he is not promoted as one of the most special and talented writers of the past years.
Fortunately, he did it again.
I happened to see My life as a house around 2 years ago, not from the beginning, and I couldn't take me my eyes off this simple and powerful story. Every scene is so wonderfully paced and dramatic that I simply enjoyed each minute in itself. I've seen it several times since and, as someone said, once a year is enough for sensitive watchers.
Beautiful script and characters and wonderful acting, I think this is a gem that will stand the test of time and become a classic film. This is also a case where the director perfectly sensed the right tone, brilliantly avoiding melodrama.
