Eric Kripke said viewers will be treated to a "jaw-dropping" third season finale before meeting a "new species" of supernatural being in the next run.

He told E Online!: "We're gonna spend a little less time talking about giant movements and war and more time talking about the brothers' relationship and how they react to that war.

"I think we sort of have a new species of supernatural being that we'll be introducing in season four that will take people by surprise. We have a few tricks up our sleeves."

Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) is in final negotiations to play a lead in Lionsgate's My Bloody Valentine 3-d. In helmer Patrick Lussier's remake of the 1981 slasher film, Ackles will play Tom, a handsome, principled man who returns to his home in Harmony, Mo., 10 years after 22 people were murdered on Valentine's night. Back in Montana, Tom finds he still is smitten with his first love, Sarah (Jaime King), and is now a murder suspect. Zane Smith wrote the screenplay. Production begins May 12 with a January 23 release day planned. And I'm going to keep saying this - do we really need this in 3-d?
