Bill Oberst Jr. is the definition of “the horror actor”, the working actor doesn’t prefer anything outside of the horror genre and wouldn’t have it any other way. Oberst has some cool projects in the works including Vivid and Legend of the Red Reaper, he shares some stories about working on True Blood and MTV’s upcoming horror series Death Valley. The actor keeps busy for sure! Check out my latest Versus with Bill Oberst Jr. to learn more about this hard working cool actor.
Brian S- First off you've really been cranking out film projects since 2007. How'd you get into acting?
Bill Oberst Jr.- I was a bizarre-looking kid who loved monsters and the other kids made fun of me. I learned a useful equation: "If You Entertain People, They Will Not Hit You." So my whole career has pretty much been about trying to get people not to hit me.

Director/writer: Aash Aaron.
Oh Aash Aaron, the boredom of I.C.U. is equal to watching dust settle. This film is labelled in the genre of thriller on some sites, but mysteriously there are few scares or tense moments found here. This review is a precedent, as there are no other reviews on this 2009 title! The first hour, with nothing happening, is followed by a looming black whole, which promises to dull the senses further. However, this film has managed to move onto video-on-demand this month, through Gravitas Ventures.
The synopsis involves: two wank happy teens who spy on their neighbours for titillation and excitement. Then, they spy another pervert, who gets his thrills from assaulting local prostitutes. Enter a strange, bloody climax and the end.
Movie specialists might recognize director Aash Aaron's name with Vigilante, or The Dark Lurking. Vigilante has been reviewed (here) and The Dark Lurking has received ambivalent reviews.

Vigilante DVD CoverDirector/writer: Aash Aaron.
Vigilante is an Australian shot revenge thriller, which was released by Mti Home Video back in late March of this year. This was director Aash Aaron's first screenplay to make the big screen and his first time in the director's chair. So, flaws abound in this ultra-violent action piece, but the film has entertainment value shown in the fight choreography and in a sincere attempt to add in a moral perspective. Canadian film reviewer Judge Power says of the film: "there's no trace of charm or ingenuity to be had" (DVD Verdict). Yet, the film is not so gloomy as this and in fact Vigilante has some low budget charm; also, there are three above average performances by the villains: Alex (Kazuya Wright), Jack (Ozzie Devrish), and Mako (Christian Radford). Also, a few minors errors hamper the film's complete success.

What's an actor to do when he can't land any decent feature roles? Well according to actor turned director, Aash Aaron, the answer was to write the screenplays himself. With over 25 years experience in the entertainment industry, Aaron has written and produced two feature films, I.C.U and Vigilante, both of which premiered at the Gold Coast Film Fantastic. Having shot both films in Australia, Aaron has an interesting message for local filmmakers: "Focus on making universal commercial films rather than Aussie culture films. Aussies are sick of our culture. They just want to be entertained so we should be making entertaining fun joyride films and not dark human spirit dramas," he said.
