Days of our Lives alum Alison Sweeney starred in her 30th Hallmark film. Unfortunately, it could be her last one. As revealed in a lawsuit, Hallmark was accused of phasing out its older actresses. This suggests you might see fewer of your favorite soap stars on the network.
Details of the Hallmark Media Lawsuit
The lawsuit did not mention Sweeney’s name; it only named Hallmark’s talents, Holly Robinson Peete and Lacey Chabert. According to a new report via Variety, Hallmark Media’s executive vice president of programming, Hamilton Daly, said they didn’t want to book “old people” who didn’t fit their view of the network.
Daly mentioned Peete and Chabert as “old talent” that should be “replaced.” The actresses are 60 and 42, respectively. Both have starred in original and holiday movies. Daly allegedly said Chabert is too “old” for the network while Peete is “too expensive and getting too old.

Lacey Chabert has been part of the Hallmark Channel’s “old talent” roster for years. That shouldn’t be a bad thing.
Though her acting career has spanned decades, she is best known for Mean Girls. However, her list of roles on television, film, and voice acting in animation and games is nothing short of intimidating.
She is also only 42 years old. That’s not really “old” by any realistic metric.
So why did an executive for the Hallmark Channel allegedly push for the replacement of her and other “old talent” on the network’s projects?

According to a report by People, court documents reveal that 79-year-old Penny Perry, a former casting director for Hallmark, filed a complaint against multiple execs.

Is Hallmark Channel’s Christmas queen giving up her crown?
Lacey Chabert has starred in more than a dozen holiday films for the feel-good network, but in 2024, one of her new Christmas flicks has a different home – Netflix. Plus, a recent age discrimination lawsuit accuses a Hallmark exec of saying Chabert was getting too old to play the heroine in the channel’s signature rom-coms. Could the Party of Five alum really be moving on from Hallmark? Fortunately for fans, the answer seems to be no.
Lacey Chabert’s new Netflix Christmas movie premieres Nov. 13
On Oct. 23, Netflix dropped a trailer for Chabert’s new holiday movie. In Hot Frosty, she plays a widow named Kathy who falls in love with a handsome (and surprisingly buff) snowman (Dustin Milligan) who has magically come to life. The cast also includes Craig Robinson, Chrishell Stause, and Katy Mixon. It hits the streaming service on Nov.

79-year-old casting director Penny Perry alleges in an age discrimination lawsuit that Hallmark executive VP of programming Lisa Hamilton Daly told her staffers she didn’t want to hire “old” people, including network favorites Holly Robinson Peete and Lacey Chabert.

Talk shows are a fickle business. There have been hundreds of talk shows throughout the history of television, and only a select few connect on such a profound level that they stick around. It's almost unheard of to go more than a few years on the air, let alone pull a Johnny Carson or David Letterman and stick around for decades.
The longevity guys will be saved for another list, though. This list is for the celebrities who didn't get a chance to get settled in their talk show gigs, or even leave on their own terms. We're talking about the controversial ones, the ones who were undone by personal scandals and off-screen antics. Let's begin, shall we?

Audiences of all ages adore cozy mysteries.
Within the genre, Hallmark mysteries have reigned supreme for years.

On Friday, former President Donald Trump claimed his mug shot and criminal charges appeal to black voters.
Trump spoke at the Black Conservative Federation’s annual Gala in Columbia, South Carolina. There, he stated, “I got indicted a second time and a third time and a fourth time, and a lot of people said that that’s why the black people like me.”
Trump attempted to relate his issues to the issues faced in the black community. “Because they have been hurt so badly and discriminated against, and they actually viewed me as I’m being discriminated against,” he said.

NBC’s unscripted bosses Corie Henson and Rachel Smith weighed in on the state of the unscripted universe during a TCA panel.
Henson, who is EVP, Entertainment Unscripted Content and looks after NBC and Peacock’s competition shows and entertainment formats, said she was proud of picking up The Traitors for a third season, midway through its second season, and has Love Island USA returning for season 6 this summer.
“As a snapshot of where we are on the format side, we are open, we are buying. We are encouraging people to come in with their big ideas,” she said.
Henson said this applied to international formats such as Traitors, which is based on a Dutch format and went on to become Peacock’s most-watched reality series,...
