After seeing the abomination that was The Wicker Man (2006) I think poor old Neil must not have good relationships with women as it is the most bitter sexist thing ive ever seen. The whole film smacks of a gruntled little fat boy who never got close to a girl and then comes to resent this. The constant moaning of the Malus the protagonist, the invariably irredeemable women characters, the only way Malus can deal with women is by physically assaulting them, how under a matriarch it is utterly irrational thankless and murderous regime etc etc. From what I hear of his other work and other posters on this board a poor understanding or negative portrayal of women seems to pervade a lot of his work. Work on your humanity Neil or else piss off.
