I think there's something about German directors getting insanely over-the-top perfrmonces from American actors. Also, I'm not so sure about the communication between Wolfgang and his composers. Uwe Boll just sucks. But Wolfgang Petersen is a great filmmaker. I just think he runs into communication problems. Neverending Story is one of the greatest kids movies ever made. Das Boot is one of the best war films of all time. In the Line of Fire is probably his best American film becuase the actors and composer didn't become a characatures of themselves. The Perfect Storm, Enemy Mine, Troy, and Poseidon all suffer from performances that just feel foney. The editing on these movies is also questionable. I'd like to see more of his German films becuase I'm sure they're good.
