Latest: Actress Rose McGowan has blasted reports she has been dropped from her director fiance Robert Rodriguez's forthcoming movie Barbarella, amid rumours of a split.
The couple, who met on the set of 2007's double bill Grindhouse, was alleged to have parted ways following a row over financial difficulties for the remake of the 1968 cult classic, in which McGowan would take the lead role.
She was also due to star in two of Rodriguez's other projects - Red Sonja and Woman in Chains! - when reports of the break-up emerged.
But the actress' representative has denied the pair has ended their working relationship, telling People.com, "The production of all three films is moving forward with Rose to star."
And a source close to McGowan insists the 34-year-old beauty is still with the filmmaker: "She and Robert are fine."

Actress Rose McGowan has reportedly split with fiance Robert Rodriguez - because of financial difficulties on forthcoming film Barbarella.
The Grindhouse star was set to take the lead in a remake of the 1968 cult classic, with Rodriguez directing the movie.
But the couple have now allegedly split following disagreements over the film's money problems.
McGowan apparently wasn't a big enough box office draw for the $70 million (GBP35 million) remake, after her 2007 film Grindhouse only grossed $25.4 million (GBP12.7 million).
A source tells the New York Post's gossip column PageSix, "Too bad Grindhouse didn't gross $100 million (GBP50 million). Then, maybe, Barbarella would have gotten the green light.
"Instead, the moguls were saying, 'We need a bigger star, a bigger name.'"
The project was reportedly set to be axed by Universal Studios in October, because of Rodriguez's decision to cast girlfriend McGowan in the lead role.
The screen beauty fell for the filmmaker on the set of Planet Terror, one half of the double bill Grindhouse, and the couple went public with their relationship in May that year - shortly after Rodriguez filed for divorce from his wife of 16 years, Elizabeth Avellan.

Grindhouse star Rose McGowan and her director boyfriend are set to revive Brigitte Nielsen's Red Sonja in a new movie.
The actress and Robert Rodriguez have confirmed they're planning a major remake of the 1985 big screen adaptation of the comic book series, in which Nielsen played a bikini-clad, sword-wielding barbarian vixen.
And even McGowan, who played a one-legged zombie killer in Rodriguez's Planet Terror Grindhouse film, admits she's surprised the Red Sonja role is hers.
The script was sent to her and she admits she had no idea why she had been selected to play the new Sonja.
She tells USA Today newspaper, "I thought it was funny. I do have a body made for sitting on a veranda with mint juleps and a parasol. I don't know why I always have to save the planet."
But Rodriguez insists his partner is perfect for the role: "Rose is a pistol. She's whip-smart, has attitude to burn, is sexy, extremely strong, yet has a vulnerable side that would surprise her closest friends. That description also fits Red Sonja."

Robert Rodriguez and his girlfriend Rose McGowan are teaming up for a big action movie and this one's not Barbarella. The Sin City co-director and his current muse will remake Red Sonja, based on the Robert Howard character turned into a disastrous film version back in 1985. That one starred Brigitte Nielsen, who, like McGowan, gives off a certain "I'll kick your ass" vibe.
"Rose is a pistol. She's whip-smart, has attitude to burn, is sexy, extremely strong, yet has a vulnerable side that would surprise her closest friends. That description also fits Red Sonja," Rodriguez told USA Today. The only thing is...were we really crying out for Red Sonja to be remade? I think Rodriguez had the same trepidation until he saw the screenplay.
"I was surprised when Rose brought me a script of Red Sonja that she liked. I found it very entertaining." Added Rodriguez, "Sonja was strong,

Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan will reunite for comic book remake Red Sonja, reports USA Today. McGowan's character, created by Robert E. Howard in 1934, is a flame-haired sword and sorcery heroine described by Rodriguez as "whip-smart... sexy and extremely strong". "I was surprised when Rose brought me a script of Red Sonja that she liked," Rodriguez said. "I found it very entertaining. Sonja was strong, smart, cunning - just (more)

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong only had eyes for each other at Dolce & Gabbana's annual party in Cannes Friday. The pair kissed and danced to old Madonna songs and other '80s favorites. "They were beaming at each other," a source tells People. "So cute." In a Vip room so packed that Petra Nemcova couldn't get in, Hudson and Armstrong chatted briefly with Cannes juror Natalie Portman, who was holding hands with her folk-rocker beau Devendra Banhart. (Unlike all the other female celebrity guests, Portman wore Chanel because she decided to come to the party at the last minute.) Other guests at the packed party,

Actress Rose McGowan is so dedicated to her regular exercise regime, she continued to workout even when she'd broken her foot.
The Grindhouse star was running late for a workout with her trainer last month when she picked up the injury - but she felt so bad for keeping her instructor waiting, she decided to endure the pain while she exercised instead of making her way to a hospital emergency room.
She tells People.com, "I thought I'd kept my trainer waiting too long downstairs, so I was running and my foot just hit the edge of the doorway. It just happens to be (made of) stone and that didn't work out well!
"But I did not miss my workout. I stuck ice on it, did my upper body, and then went to the hospital."
And McGowan admits she was in tears by the time she did see a doctor - but it was not because of the pain from her broken foot.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Thursday, McGowan - who was wearing a Dolce + Gabbana dress with one Sergio Rossi heel - recalls: "The doctor thought I was crying because I was in pain but I told him it was because I have to go to Cannes and I refuse to wear flats (flat shoes).
"Tonight I put padding beneath the case and now it's the same height as the heel. Genius!"

Talk about dedication: Running downstairs to meet her trainer, Rose McGowan broke her left foot – but finished her workout anyway. "I thought I'd kept my trainer waiting too long downstairs, so I was running and my foot just hit the edge of the doorway," the former Charmed star told People Thursday at Cannes' annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS dinner. "It just happens to be stone and that didn't work out well! But I did not miss my workout. I stuck ice on it, did my upper body, and then went to the hospital." McGowan's black cast was mostly hidden beneath her floor-length Dolce & Gabbana gown.

Actress Rose McGowan is quietly praying for a summer actor's strike - so she can spend time at home with her sick dog.
The Grindhouse star recently learned her 11-year-old terrier, Fester, has a brain tumour and now all she wants to do is spend time with her beloved pooch.
She tells PlanetGossip.Eonline.com, "Five weeks ago he was jumping in the air."
Ongoing talks between studio bosses and acting union officials are trying to resolve issues before a strike is necessary, but McGowan really wouldn't mind a long summer break.
She adds, "I'll get to spend more time with Fester."
A possible strike will also give the actress the chance to rest up after smashing her leg.
Hobbling McGowan has been told she has to wear a leg brace for the next six weeks.
She reveals, "I had a fight with a wall, and the wall won. It sucks."

Actress Rose McGowan has hit back at "malicious" reports claiming the remake of Barbarella is to be axed, because producers want a more famous star in the lead role.
The decision to cast McGowan in the role made famous by Jane Fonda, has faced criticism - because her boyfriend Robert Rodriguez is directing the movie.
It was rumoured producers were unhappy with Rodriguez' choice of lead actress, and have threatened to shelve the project unless he re-casts.
But the former Charmed star insists there is no truth to the reports, claiming a delay in production is due to a potential actors strike which could hit the film industry later this year.
She tells British magazine Heat, "It (the rumour) was irritating, very malicious and there was no proof."

Rose McGowan has revealed she is still signed on to play the lead role in the upcoming Barbarella remake.
It was reported that Universal dropped the sci-fi film from its production schedule because it didn't feel the Grindhouse actress could carry a big budget blockbuster.
"[The news that I was out] was really irritating because I know all the people over there and obviously it wasn't true. It was very malicious and there was no proof," McGowan told MTV. "Oftentimes these things have basis in truth but this didn't. I have contracts to prove it."
