Scooby Doo Copycats
Debuting in 1969, "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" was a huge hit. In fact, the perpetually frightened Great Dane was so popular that Hanna-Barbera would create at least nine additional shows and a series of animated films revolving around the character by the end of the 1980s. Largely inactive in the next decade (save one 1994 TV movie), Scooby was resurrected in 1998 with a slew of animated films, live-action films and various new TV series that continue to this day.
However, that wasn't enough for Hanna-Barbera. In addition to the multiple Scooby franchises, the company would milk the concept for all it was worth, churning out similarly themed shows from 1970 into the early 1980s.
All of these involved people, usually teens, solving mysteries or encountering the paranormal with a few exceptions*. Most importantly, they all have a gimmicky central character (the "Scooby" of the show), which is typically an animal but not always.
Frequent themes among these include having a band, toning down (or flat-out removing) the original's Horror elements*, and hating Velma.
*In these cases, mystery-solving is often replaced with straight-up crime-fighting, but the formula is still the same.
