There's nothing problematic in it, but could use adult guidance to understand everything fully. - DirectorJason ReitmanStarsGeorge ClooneyVera FarmigaAnna KendrickRyan's job is to travel around the country firing off people. When his boss hires Natalie, who proposes firing people via video conference, he tries to convince her that her method is a mistake. This movie was recommended as an introduction to the concept of communitarianism.
Communitarianism is the idea that there's an important connection between the individual and the community and the individual should be considered in the context of what's good for the community. It says we have duties and focuses that should extend beyond what's just good for ourselves and that we have obligations to our communities by virtue of being connected to them. What one should do focuses around the self being apart of a sustaining community and not solely them as an individual.
The movie is about a working man happy in his isolated travels, but throughout them, finds he years for deep connection, more than his individual material goals he's been working towards. Things in the movie, such as firing as an everyday job when it's a an intimate struggle for the person being fired, flings being disconnected from the intimacy they create often creating confusion, and the fears people fall to in marriage, all show the uncanny disconnection of human connection, and how those connections and commitments, are so important for who we are, what we want, and what we need, that often we dismiss in a multitude of ways.
There's some explicit sexual talk, but overall, this is a non-problematic movie to show kids who are bit older.
