- DirectorPhilip KnowltonStarsPat BlairAdam DriscollAndrew KnowltonWhen three young men set off to cross the United States on single-speed, fixed-gear bicycles, the physical challenge itself is incredibly daunting. But these are not just three tough guys; they ride to raise money and awareness for diabetes and to help disabled Kenyan kids. The film focuses on Adam, himself a Type-1 diabetic who has to manage his illness while riding up to 150 miles a day. And it tells the touching stories of two diabetic children the group meets along the way, and how they change the men's lives. But the ride has its comical side, too: The three are chased by wild dogs in Kentucky, ditch their rain-battered tent in Kansas to sleep on picnic tables, engage in an insane game of "foot down" with a bunch of bikers in Oregon, and struggle hilariously to achieve their goal of singing karaoke in all 16 states they pass through on their zigzag 6,500-mile journey. The trip is one of amazing discovery - of a country of stunning natural beauty and of a nation of incredibly kind and generous souls passed along the way. "Adventures for the Cure" is narrated by the three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond.

- DirectorMichael SeringerRogelio Zamora ChavezDiabetesville, USA tells the story of Cameron County, Texas, a region of the country suffering a healthcare crisis so severe it is affecting 30 percent of the total population. Diabetes and obesity have become so commonplace along the Texas/Mexico border, they have lulled the community into acceptance. More importantly, this film gives the nation a window into the future as recent estimates by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that by the year 2050, the rest of the nation will look like Diabetesville, USA, does today. A provocative film, Diabetesville, USA examines the healthcare system, culture and response of a community trying to move from complacency to action in fighting obesity and diabetes. This film is a cautionary tale that brings to light shocking issues such as the huge increase in Type II diabetic children in South Texas.

- DirectorMarc A. DoleStarsMarc A. DoleWanda DoleBritney DoleMito-Kids is the story of four teenage sisters who have grown up with disabilities that stem from mitochondrial disease, a chronic, genetic disorder that occurs when the mitochondria of the cell fail to function properly. This is an intimate and personal story that aims to increase the understanding of mitochondrial disease and its connection to epilepsy, diabetes, ALS, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Heart Disease and many other neurological disorders. In addition to the family footage, interviews with medical experts and original animation break down the role of mitochondria in producing cellular energy and explain what happens to the human body when these cellular powerhouses fail. The incidence of mitochondrial disease is estimated at 1:3000-4000 individuals in the US and yet the disease is relatively unheard of in the public sector and poorly understood in the medical community.

- DirectorThomas ScheidelA century ride, riding a bicycle 100 miles in a single day, is an accomplishment for any cyclist. To complete a century through the mountains or the desert increases the level of difficulty. And when the people riding are doing it for a great cause you get an event of epic proportions. In 1998 the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation held their first Ride for a Cure in Death Valley, California. What started as a small group of committed individuals has swelled to thousands of people at ride sites across the country. Each year these events draw a diverse group of riders. Some people are serious cyclists. Some are the parents of children with diabetes. And some have Type 1 diabetes themselves. The goal of all these riders is to raise money to help find a cure for diabetes. The JDRF ride requires extensive training and on-going fund raising. This film follows cyclists from West Michigan as they prepare for the rides in Asheville, North Carolina and Death Valley, California. We will hear their stories, see their training and join them on Ride Day. We will find out how the Ride is helping to make a cure for diabetes a reality in the near future. For these people, the Ride to Cure Diabetes is more than 100 miles, it's a way to the cure.
- DirectorJenny MackenzieSUGAR BABIES is a groundbreaking documentary that examines the public health epidemic of diabetic children in America.
