MLP: FiM ratings from Best to Worst with short reviews for most. Will not be adding on new content once G4 ends. I am composing my final list and try to add in Seasons 8 and 9. I might just post a link to my ratings and final episode ranks when ready.
Most aired episodes are here. Ratings will be out of 10 stars (1-10 stars). Will be using Jeremy Jahns rating system (I just slightly modify it, all rights go to him), if you don't know who he is look him up on YouTube he is great. Gripes don't effect my ratings, and I do sometimes change my ratings. Will contain some swearing, be warned.
Here's the breakdown from Top to Bottom:
10 stars- means it has to be Awesometacular and it's perfect.
9 stars- means that you could consider this episode Awesometacular, but it's just not perfect to me because of thing. So I would consider it a #1 buy on iTunes. Jeremy Jahns uses "buy it on blu-ray," the reason I say buy it on iTunes because it's worth owning personally I just use iTunes because I know all the MLP episodes are on there.
8 stars- means it is worth buying on iTunes, just like it would be worth buying on blu-ray.
7 stars- means it's a good time no alcohol required just meaning that it is good but not worth owning on iTunes.
6 stars- also means it's a good time no alcohol required, but closer to my rating for 5 stars.
5 stars- meaning it would be a better watch if you were drunk. I'm not here to advocate the consumption of alcohol, as I am not a consumer of alcohol myself and never will be. I agree with Jeremy that the rating as a metaphor fits the number.
4 stars- just means that it would be drastically better if you were drunk, same as the 5 star rating just more drastically.
3 stars- means that you are going to forget the episode in T-Minus 1 day or longer, more of the means of wanting to forget it or just not actually remember it at all.
2 stars- means that you are going to forget the episode in T-Minus in less than one day, same basis for the 3 star rating.
1 star- must mean it is dogs**t sorry there is absolutely no polite way to say it. If an episode is absolutely terrible or what I consider to be complete dogs**t.

4.25-4.26 Twilight's Kingdom- Awesometacular
Good: This is a fantastic season finale to a great show, and it also feels like a masterpiece. The first song is fantastic by all means of the word, and it’s still in my Top 5 of all time. Tirek’s intro scene is the best villain intro scene in the entire show, yes even better than Discord’s. First of all the dialogue isn’t redundant, it’s supposed to recap previous events that were significant leading up to this point. Yes Discord is still very funny in this episode. Tirek persuading Discord and Discord turning evil again makes sense because at no point in previous episodes did his reformation come around in full circle. The princess’s plan is in desperation, it’s the best plan they have suddenly came up with the dire scenario presented. Yes, Discord betraying the Mane 6 especially Fluttershy is very emotionally tugging and Andrea Libman deserves an Annie award for this episode, just saying. Discord betrayed his friends, only to be betrayed by Tirek; wow the emotions are getting much more hard hitting. Holy *beep* Twilight’s house gets destroyed; things become mega intense, if you think they were intense before we then get a 4 minute tense fight scene that reminds me of the one from Man Of Steel except here you really feel the protagonist fighting for something.
Best Moment: Pretty much the entire episode.
Bad: Nothing!
Gripe: The ending song is forced. The rainbow designs are ugly.

2.25-2.26 A Canterlot Wedding- Awesometacular
Good: Good dialogue between the characters. There’s a very big emotional core for Twilight. Another great cliffhanger. Pt 2 > Pt 1. The crystal cave scene was intense. Great songs. Celestia actually doing something, and revealing that she is vulnerable; extra credit to the writing and acting to show that everyone was worried about her being seriously injured (maybe even in a coma). The fight scene is adrenaline pumping and awesome. Is it me or did Lauren Faust personally animate the whole sequence because it is very reminiscent of the Powerpuff Girls. The illogical components of this episode can be completely ignored thanks to the entertaining and great overall execution of the episode itself. So yeah to those who hate it, why? This is one of the best Season finales and still one of the best two parters to this day.
Best Moment: The entire fight scene, maybe even the entire second part.
Bad: Everyone quickly turns against Twilight, quick conclusions are never always conclusions. Cadance is obviously an imposter to the viewer in the beginning. Couldn’t someone have done something while she was monologuing. Deus Ex Machina.
Gripe: The floating heads. Both of Twilight’s songs make her feel like two different characters because of the voice change.

4.12 Pinkie Pride- Awesometacular
Good: We get a really good opening song. We finally get to hear Mr. and Mrs. Cake, and Diamond Tiara sing for the first time (I’ve got to be completely honest, I love it whenever Amy Keating Rogers writes for Diamond Tiara; it just works on so many levels). Every joke in this episode hits the bullseye hard. The singing from Weird Al is perfect, it captures everything I like about him and fits him into this universe perfectly. As a 22 minute episode it’s the best in the series. Ooh and this episode fixes the problem I had in The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 with the rest of the Mane 6 dancing and singing to an opposing character’s song, because here Cheese Sandwich at no point wants to ruin or hurt Pinkie Pie; thus no betrayal. The foil of the protagonist was amazing and gotten right to a tee. Many great visuals. Live action mixed in. The clever reference to the smile song. Cheese’s revelation is very sweet. All the songs are great.
Best Moment: Every second of the episode.
Bad: The ending joke wasn’t needed.
Gripe: The fact that Shannon Chan-Kent does most of Pinkie’s singing and Andrea Libman only sings The Goof Off Song. The two different voices makes me feel like it’s two different characters, and it really shows here.
Standout Star VA’s: Weird Al and Shannon Chan-Kent/ Andrea Libman as Pinkie Pie - 2010–202023mTV-Y9.1 (718)TV EpisodeDirectorJim MillerJayson ThiessenStarsTara StrongKazumi EvansRebecca HusainAfter reminiscing about her Canterlot days, Twilight realizes that she left for Ponyville without really saying goodbye to her old friends, and tries to reconnect and re-open friendships lost.10 stars.
5.12 Amending Fences- Awesometacular
Good: The connections and continuity to the very first episode. Pretty much the entire episode. Moondancer is a great reversal/reflection of Twilight’s character. I love everything single character and second of this episode. Moondancer’s breakdown at the party actually made me tear up. The last 5 minutes of this episode are outstanding. This ending (and in a way the episode) feels a lot like a Disney Pixar movie, a lot like Monsters Inc, Up and Toy Story 3. Calling Having it be close to a Disney Pixar (a really good one) is such high praise.
Best Moment: Moondancer’s breakdown.
Bad: The other ponies in the library scene, it just annoyed me a bit.
Gripe: That this is M.A Larson’s last episode.
Standout Star VA: Kazumi Evans as Moondancer - 2010–202023mTV-Y9.2 (643)TV EpisodeDirectorDenny LuJim MillerStarsMichelle CreberClaire Margaret CorlettMadeleine PetersAfter the CMC help defeat Diamond Tiara in the school class president election, they discover a reason to help her.10 stars.
5.18 Crusaders of the Lost Mark- Awesometacular
Good: Everything came to fruition. I predicted that this episode would happen beat for beat. It doesn’t get much better than calling a future episode and then having it surpass your expectations while at the same time surprising you! I for one always liked Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon (yes, come at me for saying that). I felt as soon as Diamond Tiara made her first appearance, I honestly felt like that there was a true reason she was picking on Applebloom and holy crap this episode answered my prayers. I could not believe that Diamond Tiara was actually legitimately redeemed, it felt so sincere and true. The fact that I was right in that she wasn’t bullying Applebloom for the sake of bullying, and that it was because of her mom that she was a bully, finally she came to realize by the truthfulness of being a sort of puppet for her mom to finally break free and say that she wished she gotten her cutie mark not so early (and that it was different. From previous appearances I knew Diamond Tiara wasn’t being a bully out of spite I felt like there was being something that wasn’t being explaining; really the only episode that made me doubt this in the slightest was Ponyville Confidential because I felt she was going way too far in that episode (LARSON!). Also I would like to point out that I absolutely love Chantal Strand the voice of Diamond Tiara because I grew up listening to her; so that might explain why I’m being a little bias. Also I find it even better that Chantal Strand voiced Diamond Tiara’s mom Spoiled Rich, it added a great reflection considering how the same pony is the problem for the other pony having been voiced by the same person. Going back to Silver Spoon, as foreshadowed by that one glimpse given in Family Appreciation Day Silver Spoon wasn’t really a bully at heart and that she was going along with Diamond Tiara, because I’m guessing they met and realized how much chemistry they have; and oh my god I was actually right in when Silver Spoon sang and said that she doesn’t want to be friends no more (holy crap I was right, yet again.) It was great getting to hear Chantal Strand and Shannon Chan-Kent finally get to sing fully as their characters. The songs in this episode are beautiful and this episode is pretty much flawless for me. For those who disagree with me I say “good day!”
Best Moment: Diamond Tiara’s turning point.
Bad: If your opinions don’t change about Diamond Tiara or you still don’t like her (this is more for people who never liked her).
Gripe: Tabitha St. Germain is surprisingly not in this episode, yet Kazumi Evans sings for Rarity.

7.10 A Royal Problem- Awesometacular
Good: Well it took time, but we finally got a Celestia and Luna episode; and yes it is amazing. The old switcheroo cliche doesn’t well like a cliche here, what I mean is it is very well executed cliche. Wow talk about feeling very sorry for both the Princesses, more Luna than Celestia. Evil Celestia is canon! Ok yeah this entire episode is Awesometacular. Best Awesometacular episode since Season 5. I’m reminded of a very good episode of DragonTales.
Best Moments: The Royal Canterlot voice returning, “That only took 3 hours.” Luna’s bad pancake.
Bad: Spike apparently knows the plot of everything, really that’s it I can’t think of anything else that’s bad.
Gripe: We should have gotten this episode in Season 6.
Standout Star VA’s: Nicole Oliver, Tabitha St. Germain, Kelly Sheridan, Tara Strong - 2010–202023mTV-Y8.9 (924)TV EpisodeDirectorJayson ThiessenJames WoottonStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanThe Cutie Mark Crusaders ask Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Twilight, Pinkie, and Rainbow Dash how they got their cutie marks.10 stars.
1.23 The Cutie Mark Chronicles- Awesometacular
Good: The stories of how the character's got their cutie marks is great. Literally the only problems that I can find are bad little nitpicks. The fact that it was Rainbow Dash that brought the Mane 6 together hit all the right emotions and makes one of the most touching moments of the show, and it doesn't come off as overly sappy (unlike in another later episode). Just watch this episode it is not only important for the show, but fantastic storytelling.
Best Moments: Rainbow Dash being the key. "And that's how Equestria was made." -Pinkie Pie
Bad: Scootaloo's "NOOOO!" The fact that Rainbow Dash of course was going to be the last to tell her story, it’s too predictable.
Standout Star thing: M.A Larson - 2010–202023mTV-Y8.8 (859)TV EpisodeDirectorJames WoottonJayson ThiessenStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanFluttershy struggles to overcome her fear of public humiliation so she can help Rainbow Dash and the other pegasi create a tornado powerful enough to lift the water required for the rainy season in the cloud-producing city of Cloudsdale.10 stars.
2.22 Hurricane Fluttershy- Awesometacular
Good: It is funny. The tree joke. The Bulk Biceps joke is funny. Everyone is in character. RD actually feels like a true friend to Fluttershy in this episode. The emotional pull for Fluttershy is there. The internal conflict is perfect. This episode is basically perfect.
Best Moment: “Do I look like I speak squirrel?” - Twilight
Bad: The wind speed record served no purpose in the end. Spike really doesn’t serve a purpose for being in this episode.
Gripe: Sound-byte recycling.
Standout Star VA: Andrea Libman as Fluttershy - DirectorJayson ThiessenJim MillerStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanWhen Pinkie introduces her visiting sister, the others find they can't relate to that sibling's completely different personality.10 stars.
4.18 Maud Pie- Awesometacular
Good: The humor hits just about everywhere, it might be a little dry but it is still absolutely funny. Maud reminds me of Raven. There are several great things about this episode and I’m pretty sure I laughed as much in this episode as I did in Pinkie Pride. Maud saving Pinkie is awesome. Pinkie is shown to have sheer vulnerability in going so far to getting her friends to befriend Maud that she also gets herself killed. Maud’s small smiles feel so lovely.
Best Moments: The subtle reference to the clown scene in Goodfellas by Rarity and Maud. “It doesn’t talk, it’s a dress.” -Maud. “He’s a rock!” - Rainbow Dash.
Bad: Pinkie Pie’s deflating mane doesn’t make much sense here.

5.07 Make New Friends But Keep Discord- Awesometacular
Good: Funniest Discord episode to day. Every single Discord just hits the bullseye. I don’t recall a single dull moment from this episode.
Best Moment: Celestia laughing at Discord’s joke.
Bad: The Mane 6 being stopped by the smooze to quickly, it could’ve met that Discord might not have stopped had Fluttershy just so conveniently of happened to not be caught in the smooze.
Gripe: That I managed to find something that wasn’t particularly great about the episode.

4.21- Testing 1,2,3- Awesometacular
Good: The facial expressions in this episode are gold! All the jokes hit the mark hard. It’s chock full of great moments. AJ is at her funniest.
Best Moments: Pinkie’s rap. Rarity’s face.
Bad: How is it that all her friends seem to know about the history of the Wonderbolts except her?
Gripe: RD is the one learning the moral.

1.16 Sonic Rainboom- Awesometacular
Good: One of the character's life is put into immediate danger. Great pacing. Fear of stage fright being a relatable concept to many people and it being executed greatly and creatively. Things make sense with Rarity's wings. Great comedy. First episode to actually surprise me at one point.
Best Moment: Fluttershy's cheers
Bad: Rarity showing off and not being completely considerate to her friends.

7.25-7.26 Shadow Play- Awesometacular
Good: Interesting story. Didn’t expect to see Campfire Tales, A Health Of Information and Daring Done connect to this plot. So much cool stuff. Manages to have some great comedy. Best season finale since season 4.
Best Moments: Derpy Applejack. Pinkie bright lights.
Bad: I’ve got nothing bad to say about this episode. It made previous episodes in the season better, maybe even more so than season 4.

7.13 The Perfect Pear- Awesometacular
Good: The overall episode. Really this episode is flawless. Best Applejack episode, probably in the entire series. It seems like Johanna Lewis & Kristine Songco can do no wrong.
Best Moments: Digging up the floor, Goldie’s cats
Bad: The show is restricted when dealing with death.

7.01 Celestial Advice- Awesometacular
Good: Every character is very well written and funny. Discord putting Trixie in check. The comedy is so great. The meta humor and references. I love the inner workings of Twilight’s mind, it’s like watching great movies, and then everything exaggerating to just falling apart. By the way a reference to Predator is snuck in. Wow, Garble actually is given an ounce of likability, it only took 7 years for me to feel this. Finally, getting to see more character from Princess Celestia, like the fact that she has big flaws too. This is the first episode to acknowledge a wide arrange of characters and using them.
Best Moments: Changeling Starlight, Twilight’s mind, Celestia laughing.
Bad: Discord being used as a plot device.
Gripe: The entire cast not getting to record together, Thorax’s design.

4.24 Equestria Games- Awesometacular
Good: I was laughing pretty hard through this entire episode. I don’t care the cringe humor in this episode made me laugh, most because the facial expressions I found to be absolutely priceless. The moral is excellent. Spike being treated with respect.
Best Moments: “Nailed it!” -Pinkie Pie. Rainbow Dash’s face.
Bad: Apparently Fluttershy still forgot she had stage fright. Spike’s stage fright comes out of left field.
Gripe: Princess Celestia and Luna are present, but have no lines.

1.26 The Best Night Ever- Awesometacular
Good: This episode is so fulfilling towards the arc that was started in the ticket master. This episode has funny moments and shocking moments that are still memorable to this day. This episode is not afraid to take risks in showing that the Mane 6 can’t always get what they want. Spike shines in his short screen time. Just like the Cutie Mark Chronicles, it does a great job of balancing out 6 stories and having them connect in the end
Best Moment: Fluttershy’s rage
Bad: Some of the background characters are unlikable.
Gripe: The song isn’t all that great. Making the Mane 6 miserable went overboard a little bit.
Standout Star VA: Andrea Libman as Fluttershy - 2010–202023mTV-Y8.1 (717)TV EpisodeDirectorJayson ThiessenJim MillerStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanRarity's participation in a big city fashion competition becomes distressful when an old friend turned competitor takes advantage of her generosity to plagiarize her work.10 stars.
4.8 Rarity Takes Manehattan- Awesometacular
Good: I honestly found both parts of the song to be great. Rarity’s first breakdown. The dialogue feels perfectly natural. There are some really funny moments. The moral is great. The acting here is absolutely top notch from Tabitha St. Germain talking to herself to Kazumi Evans and Andrea Libman’s fantastic singing. It’s great to see the Mane 6 enjoying themselves. Rarity has a reason to be guilt tripping her friends, therefore no contrivance to the plot. The humor seems to be coming more from the characters and VA’s than Dave Polsky himself, which I must say is an impressive feat. I know I sound like I’m praising this episode on every point, but if people can love Magic Duel for reason I don’t get, then I can love this episode for reason you don’t get.
Best Moment: “Isn’t friendship magic?!” - Rarity
Bad: Suri doesn’t get her comeuppance.
Gripe: The rude background pony. I partially don’t care for Coco Pommel and her final monologue.
Standout Star VA’s: Tabitha St. Germain/Kazumi Evans as Rarity and Suri - 2010–202022mTV-Y7.5 (661)TV EpisodeDirectorJayson ThiessenJim MillerStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanRainbow Dash and friends offer to help their favorite author finish her latest book.10 stars.
4.4 Daring Don't- Awesometacular
Good: The comedy is spot on. The bird joke is very funny, for real. The dialogue between the Mane 6 is great. The moral is awesome. Yeah this episode is so underrated, it’s awesome.
Best Moments: Twilight and RD fangirling out.
Bad: So if you want to keep your life and identity a secret you publish it in a book series, yeah that sure makes sense; yes that makes Daring Do seem hypocritical.
Gripe: The rest of the Mane 6 feel kind of irrelevant
Standout Star VA’s: Ashleigh Ball as Rainbow Dash and Chiara Zanni - 2010–202022mTV-Y7.4 (355)TV EpisodeDirectorDenny LuMike MyhreJim MillerStarsIan HanlinKelly SheridanTara StrongStarlight is looking forward with a visit from Sunburst but finds out he has more in common with her friends than her.10 stars.
7.24 Uncommon Bond- Awesometacular
Good: Love seeing how important Sunburst is to Starlight. Twilight flipping the game board. Hey continuity. First time Maud is in an episode without Pinkie Pie.
Best Moment: “I’m very funny.”
Bad: Must Trixie be in every episode Starlight is in. The first half of this episode feels rinse and repeat.
Standout Star VA: Kelly Sheridan - 2010–202022mTV-Y8.2 (489)TV EpisodeDirectorDenny LuTim StubyJim MillerStarsPatton OswaltAshleigh BallChiara ZanniWhile attending a convention, Rainbow Dash meets a pony who hates the newer Daring Do books.10 stars.
6.13 Stranger Than Fan Fiction- Awesometacular
Good: Patton Oswalt can really make anything 10x better. Quibble’s stubbornness makes for great comedy. Daring Do is 3 for 3 whenever she’s in an episode, this just makes an episode automatically great and here is the third time it has happened. Hey remember that RD ego problem, it’s not here (I’m only pointing it out because it has been a negative part of every episode her inflated ego is in). Quibble Pant’s character is so refreshing for this show. Respecting others opinions is one of the best morals the show has ever put at the forefront.
Best Moments: RD’s face, Quibble being stubborn, and the improved ending.
Bad: The villains feel like a nuisance.

6.18 Buckball Season- Awesometacular
Good: It fixes all the problems that were in Spongebob’s The Great Snail Race and poses as it’s complete opposite in which this episode is the great version of an otherwise awful pre-first movie episode of Spongebob. For an episode that feels pretty grounded it managed to throw in some surprising and shocking moments. I can’t really find any legit problems here.
Best Moments: Fluttershy snapping at AJ and RD, the facial expressions.
Bad: Snails really didn’t feel completely necessary.
Standout Star VA: Andrea Libman both Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy
