- DirectorCarlos BaezaStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightSelma starts to feel broody, but after taking Bart and Lisa to Duff Gardens, she changes her mind.Too many funny moments throughout the episode not to include this.
- DirectorMark KirklandStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightWhen Mr. Burns revokes the plant's dental plan, forcing Lisa to be fitted with cheap, ugly braces, Homer leads its union into going on strike.
- DirectorRich MooreStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightAfter receiving a considerable donation of money, Springfield builds a monorail system with Homer as the conductor, unaware they've just boarded a one-way train to Hell.As a rule: If Conan O'Brien is listed in the writing credits, it's gonna be a great episode.
"I call the big one 'Bitey'." - DirectorBrad BirdStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightAfter Krusty is found guilty of robbing the Kwik-E-Mart following Homer's eyewitness testimony, Bart and Lisa set out to prove his innocence. The show was clearly trying to find its legs in the first season, but this gem really stands out as Bart refuses to believe his idol has fallen. Plus, this the first Sideshow Bob episode.
- DirectorJim ReardonBob AndersonStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightWhen Lisa cheats on a test, she has a moral crisis when her perfect score qualifies the school for grant money; Homer adopts a lobster as a pet.Really, the main plot is run-of-the-mill like many of the episodes by this point, but what really makes this episode worth watching is the B-plot where Homer attempts to fatten up a lobster so he can cook it, but winds up falling in love with it instead. The ending was the hardest I've ever laughed at any Simpsons episode.
- DirectorMark KirklandStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightBart and Lisa attend "Kamp Krusty" but it is nothing like they thought it would be; Homer's hair grows back and he loses weight while the kids are away.Believe it or not, I actually WANTED to go to summer camp after seeing this episode.
- DirectorDavid SilvermanStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightWhen Krusty's show is canceled after losing viewers to a ventriloquist and his dummy, Bart and Lisa organize a celebrity-filled comeback special for their favorite clown.Really any Krusty centric episode ranks up there on my list, but this is one really stands out.

- DirectorJim ReardonStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightAfter attributing a relaxing Sunday to his skipping church, Homer vows to never attend service again, and forms his own religion to justify his behavior. While I enjoyed The Simpsons prior to this, I think this was the episode that solidified me as a fan.

- DirectorDavid SilvermanStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightMrs. Krabappel, fed up with Bart's lackadaisical approach to his studies, gives him an ultimatum: shape up or repeat the fourth grade. With the grades that Bart receives, an episode like this would seem inevitable. SPOILER ALERT: And in the end, when Bart despite giving his all, he still doesn't succeed and begins to break down just is heartbreaking. It proves that the series is capable for sad moments as well as funny ones.

- DirectorCarlos BaezaStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightHomer's marriage is in trouble when he develops an attraction to a new co-worker; Bart undergoes medical treatments that make him look like a nerd. You could easily argue that Marge can find someone better than Homer, but here is a case where Homer meets a woman that he has a lot in common with.
- DirectorMark KirklandStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightWashed-up movie star Troy McClure starts dating Selma in an attempt to silence bizarre rumors about his personal life and resuscitate his career.A Troy McClure centric episode, and Planet of the Apes: The Musical. This episode has it all.
