Awesome martial arts films
what makes a great martial art film for me is the fight choreography, the cast, the story, and the brutal bone crunching effects.

- DirectorGordon ChanStarsJet LiShinobu NakayamaSiu-Ho ChinIn 1937, a Chinese martial artist returns to Shanghai to find his teacher dead and his school harassed by the Japanese.a great recreation of Bruce Lee's "The chinese Connection" with a happier ending, the fight sequences are bone crunching, brutal, and well done. I love it when Jet Li does his signature punch.
- DirectorPrachya PinkaewStarsTony JaaPhetthai VongkumlaoPumwaree YodkamolWhen the head of a statue sacred to a village is stolen, a young martial artist goes to the big city and finds himself taking on the underworld to retrieve it.really good Muy Thai style movie, with awesome stunts and moves by Tony Jaa. Although he's a reluctant hero, he fights when he has to and when he does, he makes it hurt. none can stand against him.
- DirectorChia-Liang LiuJackie ChanStarsJackie ChanHo-Sung PakLung TiA young martial artist is caught between respecting his pacifist father's wishes or stopping a group of disrespectful foreigners from stealing precious artifacts.i really love this style of Gung Fu, unorthodox and a thrill to watch. of course we got Jackie doing his own stunts, the comedy is pretty funnytoo.
- DirectorChris NahonStarsJet LiBridget FondaTchéky KaryoA betrayed intelligence officer enlists the aid of a prostitute to prove his innocence from a deadly conspiracy while returning a favor to her.one of Jet Li's darker movies, he wrote this one himself. From epic battle to epic battle, Jet Li does not disappoint. There isn't a single fight sequence i dont' like in this movie, but my fave is when he fights the twins.
- DirectorCesar GallardoStarsJoseph EstradaCynthia UgaldeEva Montesthis is a Bruce Lee classic and one of the more violent ones at that. I enjoyed this one because Bruce doesn't hold back in this one, he goes all aout and gets his revenge as he sees fit.
- DirectorPrachya PinkaewStarsTony JaaNathan JonesXing JinA young fighter named Kham must go to Australia to retrieve his stolen elephant. With the help of a Thai-born Australian detective, Kham must take on all comers, including a gang led by an evil woman and her two deadly bodyguards.orignal movie titled "Tom Yun Gung" which is the superior of them since it's in it's orignal Thai dialog, unedited and unct, not to mention the butchering of words. I love the berserk scene where Tony takes on 20+ enemies and either breaks or maims them horribly with his bare hands.
- DirectorAndrzej BartkowiakStarsJet LiAaliyahIsaiah WashingtonAn avenging cop seeks out his brother's killer and falls for the daughter of a businessman who is involved in a money-deal with his father.Jet Li is the man, everyone else is a distraction, although i liked the plot and story with the similarities of Remeo and Juliet. Aaliyah was pretty good for her first role, and i did like the special effects of the internal xray views of the damage being done.
- DirectorLouis LeterrierCorey YuenStarsJason StathamShu QiMatt SchulzeFrank Martin, who "transports" packages for unknown clients, is asked to move a package that soon begins moving, and complications arise.not an official martial arts film, Jason Statham grabbed me with his role in this film. Before this one, he was mostly in dramas and never had any fighting sequences. You can tell by his form and posture that he knows what he's doing, it's not just some act, he's authentic. Love the oil fight in the parking garage.
- DirectorRob MinkoffStarsJackie ChanJet LiMichael AngaranoA discovery made by a kung fu obsessed American teen sends him on an adventure to ancient China, where he joins up with a band of martial arts warriors in order to free the imprisoned Monkey King.aside from the white guy being out of place, this was a fun movie to watch with both martial arts masters Jet Li and Jackie Chan perform and fight together. Amazing choreography as expected from these two
- DirectorStanley TongStarsJackie ChanAnita MuiFrançoise YipA young man visiting and helping his uncle in New York City finds himself forced to fight a street gang and the mob with his martial art skills.another one of my faves, this one has a lot of prop usage by Jackie Chan, using whatever he has around him to help him fight and to make some hilarious fight sequences. This was his first American debut in major cinema and he does not disappoint.
- DirectorDaniel LeeStarsJet LiChing Wan LauKaren MokA survivor of a supersoldier project must fight his former comrades as a masked hero.yeah the music is cheesy, but the plot i like along with the action. Because they can't feel pain, they are able to do far more brutal and violent attacks and moves, and the lack of pain doesn't slow them down either.
- DirectorWilson YipStarsDonnie YenSimon YamSiu-Wong FanDuring the Japanese invasion of China, a wealthy martial artist is forced to leave his home when his city is occupied. With little means of providing for themselves, Ip Man and the remaining members of the city must find a way to survive.give me 10! Donny Yen is simply amazing in this biographical piece that shows even martial art masters can have difficulty finding a place amongst war torn China. When Ip Man takes on 10 imperial Karateka's at once...his punches and rapid fire blows have you cringing and jumping in your seat. another one of my faves.
- DirectorWilson YipStarsDonnie YenSimon YamSiu-Wong FanDuring the Japanese invasion of China, a wealthy martial artist is forced to leave his home when his city is occupied. With little means of providing for themselves, Ip Man and the remaining members of the city must find a way to survive.crazy epic fights in this one! Everytime you think Ip Man is out of options, he surprised you with a pop up move you least expect.
This movie ties up loose ends and i love the Bruce Lee reference at the end of the film. - DirectorAndrew LauStarsDonnie YenAlex AhlstromShu QiThe year is 1917 and Chen Zhen, believed to be dead, returns to Shanghai under a false name. He joins a mob boss for info on the Japanese incl. a long kill list and at night fights the Japanese masked.this one was a bit strange for at first, not expecting to ever see a sequel to a Jet Li film that was a remake of a Bruce Lee film. But the world war 1 sequence, the combat and brutalality was enough to convince me it was well placed, cast, and met.
- DirectorYimou ZhangStarsZiyi ZhangTakeshi KaneshiroAndy LauA romantic police captain breaks a beautiful member of a rebel group out of prison to help her rejoin her fellows, but things are not what they seem.tight suspenseful action, thrilling combat, and a not overly sappy romance story arc, the visual effects are amazing and the fights are tense.
- DirectorAng LeeStarsChow Yun-FatMichelle YeohZiyi ZhangA young Chinese warrior steals a sword from a famed swordsman and then escapes into a world of romantic adventure with a mysterious man in the frontier of the nation.amazingly this was some viewers first serious look at wire fu style filming. I think it did a great job not overdoing the special effect whil making the characters intriguing and not proud.
