Very Unlikely to Ever Be Made
A list of flicks that have been rumoured or announced at some point in the past and for the most part I would love to see but for various reasons seem destined to never see the the light of day (though I'd be happy to be proved wrong if they do get made!)

- DirectorTim MillerStarsRyan ReynoldsMorena BaccarinT.J. MillerA wisecracking mercenary gets experimented on and becomes immortal yet hideously scarred, and sets out to track down the man who ruined his looks.Just seems to me that Fox screwed itself over too much in it's handling of the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine for this to ever have a hope of getting made. Plus, if they truly wish to appease the diehard Deadpool fans, I think the character will end up being far too off the wall to find a sizable enough audience.
- DirectorAndy MuschiettiStarsEzra MillerMichael KeatonSasha CalleBarry Allen uses his super speed to change the past, but his attempt to save his family creates a world without super heroes, forcing him to race for his life in order to save the future.With the recently announced Flash TV series to be spun off from Arrow, any big screen outing seems less and less likely. Though I remember reading that Neil Patrick Harris was rumoured for this, and I would definitely see that!
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsBen AffleckGal GadotJason MomoaFueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his new-found ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.I'm just convinced that Warner Bros. can get itself together enough for this to ever become a reality. I'm sure Goyer, Nolan & Snyder have a long term plan for getting to this, but at this stage I just can't see it happening.
- DirectorDenis VilleneuveA team of astronauts are sent on a mission to explore a giant interstellar spaceship hurtling toward the sun. Based on the novel by Arthur C. Clarke.As far as I can remember, movie plans for this have been around for what seems like ages. From what I know of the story it should make a visually stunning movie, especially with today's FX technology, but the production just doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
- This was announced a few years ago, and Ridley Scott still seems to be attached to direct, but there hasn't been any concrete news that I've seen in a very long while. Personally, I'd love to see Scott return to Sci-Fi form with such revered source material (yet to read the books yet myself, but definitely on my "to read" list), but sadly this seems to be firmly stuck in development hell.
- DirectorDavid BrucknerStarsOdessa A'zionJamie ClaytonAdam FaisonA young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites.I would LOVE to see a full-on blood & gore return of the Cenobites using really high quality VFX, and if it ever does get made, it'd be good to see an expansion of the Pinhead & Friends universe rather than just a straight up remake of the original, but this too seems to have ground to a halt before it ever really got going.
- DirectorTod WilliamsStarsJohn CusackSamuel L. JacksonIsabelle FuhrmanWhen a mysterious cell phone signal causes apocalyptic chaos, an artist is determined to reunite with his young son in New England.This formerly had Eli Roth attached to direct, but then went all quiet. Not convinced it would make a truly good movie despite the somewhat interesting interpretation on the zombie phenomenon presented by "The No. 1 Bestselling Writer" Stephen King.
The opening sequence with all hell breaking loose would certainly make for a thrilling act 1 to the movie, but there's really not much beyond that to hold an audience's interest (don't get me wrong, as a book I think it worked well--not King's best story, but most certainly not his worst--I just don't see it being cinematic enough for a feature length treatment). It maybe could have been a worthy TV series, but with The Walking Dead already showing exactly how long form zombie stories should be told, there's really no need for this to be made. - CreatorJosh BooneBenjamin CavellStarsWhoopi GoldbergAlexander SkarsgårdJames MarsdenAfter the world is in ruins, due to a man-made plague, a battle of Biblical proportions ensues between the survivors.I must admit, I was very excited when it was announced that Ben Affleck was set to direct the big screen outing of this King epic, and personally I think he'd make an excellent lead in Stu Redman, but shortly after the announcement was made (or the rumour was circulated, if you prefer), Affleck seemingly denied any involvement.
I'm not sure of the current status of the project, but of all the movies on this list, this is one I would dearly love to see done properly. - Much as I would love for GdT to realise his dream in turning the Lovecraft story into a feature, I fear the rather poor showing of Pac. Rim will scuttle his chances.
And personally, I just don't think there's enough in the story to warrant a mega-budget treatment. - DirectorMarc ForsterThe story of a boy whose parents are killed is adopted by the occupants of a graveyard and raised by them.Loved this book and it would definitely make for an excellent movie, but it seems to be going nowhere at the moment.
- To save his mother from certain death, young Jack Sawyer enters a parallel world known as the Territories in search of a powerful talisman.I remember reading an article that appeared The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction back in 1990 in which it was stated that this project would see the coming together of "the two Steve's" - King & Spielberg. 20+ years later, and we're still no closer to this being realised as a movie. But if it ever does get made, I'll be there on Day One to see it.
- A young man at odds with his society's mandatory death sentence for all those turning 21 plots a daring escape on the eve of his fateful birthday.With Gossling & Refn attached to this it could well have been interesting, but I just don't feel we need a new version of this.
- Just accept it, it'll never get made.
- CreatorLiz HeldensStarsMark-Paul GosselaarSaniyya SidneyJamie McShaneWhen a botched U.S. government experiment turns a group of death row inmates into highly infectious vampires, an orphan girl might be the only person able to stop the ensuing crisis.Actually really hoping this does get filmed, just not sure how likely that'll be.
- DirectorBurr SteersStarsLily JamesSam RileyJack HustonFive sisters in 19th century England must cope with the pressures to marry while protecting themselves from a growing population of zombies.The original "monsters n' manners" mash up was actually a really enjoyable read, probably due to the fact that a very large amount of Austen's original text was left intact. I actually think this could make an excellent zombie flick, but getting the tone right would be a nightmare tightrope walk. Too camp and it loses the charm of the original, original novel; too serious and you risk having the zombies seem completely out of place.
Good luck to anyone trying to adapt this, but I sincerely hope they manage to pull it off! - DirectorNikolaj ArcelStarsIdris ElbaMatthew McConaugheyTom TaylorA boy haunted by visions of a dark tower from a parallel reality teams up with the tower's disillusioned guardian to stop an evil warlock known as the Man in Black who plans to use the boy to destroy the tower and open the gates of Hell.Too big; too many characters; too many locations; too many references to other King works; to much meta-fiction and the ending simply isn't epic enough to satisfy anyone who's sat through multiple movies / TV seasons to get there.
Sure, they could excise huge chunks of the tale, get rid of many unnecessary characters and up the ante on the ending, but would it then still be a Dark Tower movie?
Despite the seemingly positive announcements recently, I very much doubt we'll ever see this, either in cinemas or on TV. - DirectorNeil MarshallStarsDavid HarbourMilla JovovichIan McShaneCaught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, Hellboy battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.Please, please, please, please, PLEASE get this made!!!!
I would be sooooooo fanboy-happy to see Hellboy's story rounded off nicely with an epic finale - something along the lines of:
Hellboy faces off against living a "quiet" life;
Hellboy faces off against impending fatherhood;
Hellboy faces off against all the legions of Hell itself and saves the Earth in one final, epic, bigger than anything seen before battle.
I mean really, is that too much to ask? - DirectorRupert SandersStarsBill SkarsgårdFKA twigsDanny HustonWhen soulmates Eric and Shelly are brutally murdered, Eric is given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself and sets out to seek revenge, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.Dark, gothic, revenge & a rock-god main character - Nick Cave was so the right man for doing the screenplay for this remake. But since he's out, Meh!
- Saw some test footage that Weta did for this a year or two and while very short, it certainly looked good (check it out on YouTube: http://youtu.be/W3ZxHvgVXy8 - fair warning, though, semi-NSFW); but nothing seems to have happened since.
- A girl made of fire steals a shard of a legendary crystal in hopes of reigniting the dying sun.Hearing that The Spierig Brothers (of Undead & Daybreakers fame) were set to direct this was excellent news indeed, however it's all but disappeared from view since.
- Seriously, does anyone in the general public even know what Elfquest is?
- LOVE the concept of this - what if a guy like Bruce Wayne, a guy with the same level of intellect, strength, training & money as The Dark Knight, had turned into a supervillain instead of a superhero. And, it's a Mark "Kick-Ass" Millar comic. Hoping like hell this get's made.
- Just can't see this ever happening.
- DirectorPatty JenkinsStarsGal GadotChris PineRobin WrightWhen a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, Diana, an Amazonian warrior in training, leaves home to fight a war, discovering her full powers and true destiny.Please, this just ain't going to happen. The movie going public is not simply not ready to accept a superhero movie with a female lead, and Hollywood sure as hell doesn't know how to make a good movie featuring a female superhero (I mean really, just think of Hollywood's history with female superhero attempts: Supergirl, Tankgirl, Barb Wire, Catwoman, Elektra...they've only manage SIX (from comics at least), they've unequivocally screwed every one of the up, and there are currently NO plans for any in the future that I'm aware of).
Personally, I'd be overjoyed to see a good super-heroine movie, but I certainly won't be holding my breath for one.
