Home Video and Blockbuster Era Movies I've Watched (including my mini-reviews)
What I've watched since 2015, including my mini-reviews in the comments of every list item.
What will you find in this list? Movies, direct-to-video movies, TV movies and feature-length pilot episodes for un-commissioned TV series. This list has ended up being mostly genre B-movies with a few mainstream Hollywood movies. Almost every list item is the first time I've seen it.
What dates/eras does it span? From the proto-blockbusters of the late 60's, via the home video era to the last few 80's style movies made around the turn of the Millennium.
Although mostly in chronological order of watch date, I keep sequels grouped together. Even those sequels beyond the scope of this list because I'm thorough.

Cheesy 80's sci-fi action with fighting robots in this Italian B-movie. - DirectorAlbert BandStarsDon Michael PaulBarbara CramptonJames StaleyA renegade Megarobot pilot and an archaeologist must team up to thwart the Centro's attempts to resurrect a hidden Megarobot, with which they can challenge the prevailing order.17/11/17
A sci-fi B-movie sequel to 'Robot Jox' (1989), again by Charles Band's production company. It took me a long time to discover that this sequel existed. This one was produced by Charles Band and directed by his father, Albert. The robot effects are stop-motion models and minitures. They look dated, but I like how they look, and the whole movie looks fairly good for an early 90's B-movie. But there's only one big robot fight in the movie. And not enough action to compensate for the disjointed, incoherent plotlines. Overall, has some entertainment value, but not as much as the first one. - DirectorWes CravenStarsSusan LanierRobert HoustonJohn SteadmanOn the way to California, a family has the misfortune to have their car break down in an area closed to the public, and inhabited by violent savages ready to attack.30/10/15

Direct-to-video Hellraiser sequel by Gary J. Tunnicliffe and with another new actor in the Pinhead role. I expected to dislike this but was surprised how enjoyable it turned out to be. The first quarter was excessively gross and gory though. After that it becomes a better detective story with a premise similar to Se7en (1995) and with a good plot-twist at the end. Overall better than I expected. - DirectorSam FirstenbergStarsMichael DudikoffSteve JamesJudie AronsonAmerican soldier, obviously very skilled in martial arts, single-handedly takes on mercenaries in the Philippines.Unlike the rest of the list, this one is out of order! Great sci-fi idea. Not quite a classic but definitely a hidden gem. Aged well apart from the special effects. Another B-movie Car-movie. This dated drama lacks the action I want from a car movie. Shameless cash-in on 'Smokey and the Bandit (1977)'. This Roger Corman B-movie is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. A Roger Corman, post-apocalyptic, futuristic B-movie. Awful dialogue, Classic 'Doctor Who' level of special effects make for a very dated 70's style of sci-fi. It does have lots of action, chases, stunts, fights and explosions. Hard to find and almost so bad it's good. - DirectorRichard TaylorStarsChristopher MitchumLes LannomWilliam WatsonLonigan and his partner Tony, two drug dealers, shoot two cops who attempt to set them up, and run away with a million bucks and the drugs, which they stash in a red Corvette Stingray in a used car lot. They quickly pursue the two along with the police who think that the car's new owners are the criminals.10/07/16
Hard to find Road-Movie/B-movie. Low production values and strange mix of violence and comedy. Doesn't know if it wants to be a family friendly comedy or a crime thriller. Has some good moments so not bad overall. - DirectorHal NeedhamStarsBurt ReynoldsSally FieldJerry ReedThe Bandit is hired on to run a tractor-trailer full of beer over state lines, in hot pursuit by a pesky sheriff.15/07/16
Watched this dozens on times on television. One of my all-time favourite movies. If you only watch one hick-flick carsploitation road-movie, make it this one. Good to finally watch the original version without the swearing edited out for television. - DirectorHal NeedhamStarsBurt ReynoldsJackie GleasonJerry ReedThe Bandit goes on another cross-country run, transporting an elephant from Florida to Texas. And, once again, Sheriff Buford T. Justice is on his tail.16/07/16
Watched this a few times on television. Apart from the big finale, this is pretty bad. Good to finally watch the original version without the swearing edited out for television. This is a flimsy children's film with swearing. - DirectorDick LowryStarsJackie GleasonJerry ReedPaul WilliamsBig and Little Enos are opening a sea food restaurant. They bet Sheriff Buford T. This is why I re-watched the first two. To get to the notorious 2nd sequel which I don't think I've watched before. It has some fairly good stunts but they don't make up for all the problems. Nothing about the plot or story makes any sense. One of the worst films on this list. - DirectorMonte HellmanStarsJames TaylorWarren OatesLaurie BirdWhile drag-racing through the American Southwest in a Chevrolet 150, a driver and his mechanic cross paths with an enigmatic hitchhiker and the tall-tale-spinning driver of a GTO.30/07/16
Strange flower-power era carsploitation road-movie drama. Story doesn't make much sense and it has no proper ending. Has some charm but not enough entertainment value, chases and stunts for me to recommend. - DirectorJonathan KaplanStarsJan-Michael VincentKay LenzSlim PickensIn 1970s Arizona, a young married man becomes an independent long-haul driver and he risks his life fighting the corruption in the local long-haul trucking industry.06/08/16
Truck-spoitation B-movie drama. Above average but quite dated and not as entertaining as it could have been. - DirectorJohn LandisStarsJohn BelushiDan AykroydCab CallowayJake Blues rejoins with his brother Elwood after being released from prison, but the duo has just days to reunite their old R&B band and save the Catholic home where the two were raised, outrunning the police as they tear through Chicago.13/08/16
Watched before but only a TV version in the late 90s. This time I watched the extended version. The music and musician cameos went over my head. I was watching for the comedy and the carsplotation. The comedy holds up fairly well, just a little dated. The car chases are pretty good. Too much swearing to be family friendly. Overall, memorable and still a lot of fun. - DirectorJohn LandisStarsDan AykroydJohn GoodmanWalter LevineElwood must reunite the old band, with a few new members, and go on another "Mission from God."20/08/16
Almost more like a homage to the first film than a sequel. Mostly the same and all of it worse. - DirectorHal NeedhamStarsBurt ReynoldsRoger MooreFarrah FawcettA wide variety of eccentric competitors participate in a wild and illegal cross-country road race. However, the eccentric entrants will do anything to win the road race, including low-down, dirty tricks.25/08/16
Watched it before on TV back in the 1990's. Another illegal trans-American road-race movie similar to 'Cannonball!' (1976) and 'The Gumball Rally' (1976). This has lots of stunts and chases and also funnier than the ealier movies. A bit dated, but still lots of fun. One of the better Hal Needham/Burt Reynolds carsploitation movies. - DirectorHal NeedhamRalph BakshiStarsBurt ReynoldsDom DeLuiseDean MartinThe original characters from The Cannonball Run (1981) race across the country once more in various cars and trucks.27/08/16
Watched it before on TV back in the 1990's. Similar to the first, but worse in just about every way. Overall average. - DirectorJim DrakeStarsPeter BoyleDonna DixonJohn CandyDespite the police's preemptive strike, the illegal coast-to-coast car race is still on with new drivers. It's a race where fair play, red lights, stop signs, police roadblocks and traffic rules in general have no validity.28/08/16
Can't remember if I've ever watched this on TV. Hard to find; the best version I could find was ~4 mins. less than duration stated on IMDB. Different director and mostly different cast. Great actors but awful script and generally badly made film. The last of the 70s and 80s car chase films. Overall, below average. - DirectorPeter WeirStarsTerry CamilleriJohn MeillonKevin MilesThe small town of Paris, Australia deliberately causes car accidents, then sells/salvages all valuables from the wrecks as a means of economy.29/08/16
Hard to find the full version instead of the reduced US cut. Best I could find was a 1 hour 27 min. version, ~4 mins short of the IMDB stated duration. This was more surreal and art-house than I expected. Good to see Bruce Spence and hints of 'Mad Max' themes. Overall, too weird to be entertaining and enjoyable. - DirectorRichard C. Watched it years ago on TV. This time I watched the most complete version available, the uncut UK theatrical version.
One of the first and few car-chase/carploitation road movies that everyone should watch. TV Movie remake of 'Vanish Point' (1971). My expectations were low. Being a TV movie, the scale and production values are lower. They also changed the plotlines and introduced more conventional drama. At least they used the right cars and had reasonable car action sequences. It also tries to keep the spirit of the original. Overall, it's an unnecessary remake but with enough car action and the right tone to be okay if you enjoy car movies. - DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsDennis WeaverJacqueline ScottEddie FirestoneA business commuter is pursued and terrorized by the malevolent driver of a massive tractor-trailer.10/09/16

Titled 'Cold Sweat' in English. Watched because someone on IMDB mentioned it had a good car chase. I watched the most complete version (93 mins.) available. Think I watched it on TV a years ago. This is Roger Corman's low-budget B-movie cash-in on 'Star Wars' (1977). It's worse in every way. Not even ironically entertaining.
