- DirectorTerence FisherStarsBarbara PaytonJames HayterStephen MurrayBill and Robin, helped by their childhood friend, Lena, develop a "reproducer" which can exactly duplicate any object. Bill, crushed when Lena marries Robin, convinces her to allow him to duplicate her, so that he may have a copy of her for himself. The experiment, at first deemed a success, seems to have worked only too well as the duplicate, Helen, is such an exact copy that she also loves Robin, not Bill. Bill hopes to rectify the situation with another radical experiment.Interesting movie in which you recognize some of the scientific elements that would return in The Curse of Frankenstein. Unfortunately the story falls a little flat near the end: 6,3/10
Included on The Curse of Frankenstein Blu-ray - DirectorVal GuestStarsBrian DonlevyJack WarnerRichard WordsworthProfessor Bernard Quatermass' manned rocket ship returns to Earth, but two of the astronauts are missing and the survivor seems ill and unable to communicate.Nice, atmospheric movie that takes advantage of the fears of the unknown: 6,5/10

- DirectorVal GuestStarsBrian DonlevyJohn LongdenSidney JamesProfessor Quatermass, trying to gather support for his Lunar colonisation project, is intrigued by mysterious traces that have been showing up.Much better than the first Quatermass. Creepy, tense, exciting, paranoid! The movie has great pacing and Donlevy is a badass! The movie delivers on all of these fronts: 7,8/10
Own it on double-bill region 2 DVD set together with The Quatermass Xperiment (1955) - DirectorVal GuestStarsForrest TuckerPeter CushingMaureen ConnellA kindly English botanist and a gruff American scientist lead an expedition to the Himalayas in search of the legendary Yeti.Charming studio flick with Peter Cushing. Black and white really give the movie it's own authentic feel. Nice sets, solid acting and without really seeing the monster you feel it's threat throughout the entire movie: 6,9/10
Own it on region 2 DVD. - DirectorTerence FisherStarsPeter CushingHazel CourtRobert UrquhartWhile awaiting execution for murder, Baron Victor Frankenstein tells the story of a creature he built and brought to life - only for it to behave not as he intended.Classic Hammer! And the cornerstone of my favorite franchise within the Hammer productions. Peter Cushing at his best! Christopher Lee is great in the tragic role of the monster. The nice thing about this movie is that you notice Hammer's attempt at developing their own Gothic style (which they later perfected with their subsequent Dracula (1958) and Mummy (1959) movies). Also COLORS!! 8/10
Own it on region 2 Blu-ray/DVD collector's set. - DirectorVal GuestStarsAndré MorellCarl MöhnerWalter FitzgeraldDeep in Malaya, as World War II is rapidly coming to an end, men, women and children, trapped by the Japanese invasion, are held captive in the Blood Island prison camp. Knowing that Yamamitsu, the sadistic commandant, will murder them all when he learns of his country's defeat, Dutch, a Dutch planter, smashes the camp radio. British officer Lambert and, in the women's prison, the recently-widowed Kate, join Dutch in arming the prisoners.Pretty exciting and thrilling. The ending is a bit sudden and characters are a bit flat, but doesn't take away the thrill of watching the prisoners survive this gruesome Japanese prison camp. 6,6/10. Own it on 2018's Indicator Blu-ray set.
- DirectorTerence FisherStarsPeter CushingChristopher LeeMichael GoughWhen Jonathan Harker rouses the ire of Count Dracula for accepting a job at the vampire's castle under false pretenses, his friend Dr. Van Helsing pursues the predatory villain.Chris Lee in his first performance as Dracula. Gets better every time you watch it. Hammer really get's it gothic feels going. It's also nice to notice set-designer Bernard Robinson using the same set-location four different times without you even knowing it. (I first discovered it when watching the movie with the highly recommended commentary track by Marcus Hearn and Jonathan Rigby on the Blu-ray release) 8,2/10
Own it on 2002 region-free DVD release and also on region 2 Blu-ray/DVD collector's set. - DirectorTerence FisherStarsPeter CushingFrancis MatthewsEunice GaysonHaving escaped execution and assumed an alias, Baron Frankenstein transplants his deformed underling's brain into a perfect body, but the result proves to be mortally perilous. This Frankenstein sequel almost did everything better than the original. (with the exception of the monster, Chris Lee is without a doubt the best monster in the entire Hammer Frankenstein cycle). Liked it very much. Peter Cushing get's help from the charismatic and likable actor Francis Matthews. The only thing for me that's negative about this movie, is that is lessens the impact of the first movie's ending: 8/10.

- DirectorTerence FisherStarsPeter CushingChristopher LeeYvonne FurneauxIn 1895, British archaeologists find and open the tomb of Egyptian Princess Ananka with nefarious consequences. This might be my favorite and most exciting movie out of the 3 Hammer classics (next to "Curse" and "Horror"). Atmospheric, exciting and unbelievably charming. Nice to see Cushing return after declining the lead role for Hammer's previous movie "The man who could cheat death". The music by Franz Reizenstein is one of Hammers best musical score's to date. 8,5/10

- DirectorTerence FisherStarsPeter CushingMartita HuntYvonne MonlaurVampire hunter Dr. Van Helsing returns to Transylvania to destroy handsome bloodsucker Baron Meinster, who has designs on a beautiful young schoolteacher. This movie is a worthy sequel to the original. Even without Christopher Lee as the count, Peter Cushing carries this movie without any effort. Interestingly, it expands on the vampire lore of the first one. One of my favorites in the Dracula series: 8,3/10
Own it on german region 2 DVD. - DirectorJoseph LoseyStarsMacdonald CareyShirley Anne FieldViveca LindforsAn American tourist, a youth gang leader, and his troubled sister find themselves trapped in a top secret government facility experimenting on children.

- DirectorCyril FrankelStarsGwen WatfordPatrick AllenFelix AylmerIn Canada, a British schoolmaster meets official resistance when he learns that his 9-year-old daughter has been the victim of the pedophile patriarch of the town's most powerful family.Takes a sensitive subject, handles it thrillingly while remaining respectful. The movie is a powerhouse! You will be on the edge of your seat. Very strong and memorable! 7,4/10
- DirectorTerence FisherStarsRichard GreenePeter CushingNiall MacGinnisWhile King Richard is away at the Crusades, some Nottingham nobles and their Sheriff plot to confiscate estates of fallen Crusaders but Robin Hood and Maid Marian foil their plan.
- DirectorTerence FisherStarsClifford EvansOliver ReedYvonne RomainIn eighteenth-century Spain, an adopted boy becomes a werewolf and terrorizes the inhabitants of his town. Not a particular favorite of mine but still decent nonetheless. I found Oliver Reed a bit too stiff and wooden in his acting. The movie takes it time to tell the origin story of the wolf but does it in a way that we don't really get to know Reed's character. Clifford Evans character has way more screen presence in my opinion, but in the end they don't use that to their advantage unfortunately. The climactic ending with the epic werewolf chase is a definite plus though and makes the movie worth watching: 6/10.
Own it on region 2 UK DVD. - DirectorQuentin LawrenceStarsPeter CushingAndré MorellRichard VernonA charming but ruthless criminal holds the family of a bank manager hostage as part of a cold-blooded plan to steal 97,000 pounds.Great film, magnificent suspense thriller! Great chemistry between Andre Morrell and Peter Cushing. 7,3/10. Own it on limited UK Blu-ray.
- DirectorAnthony BushellStarsChristopher LeeYvonne MonlaurGeoffrey TooneIn 1910, Hong Kong members of a secret Tong crime syndicate protect their identities by murdering the daughter of a British sea captain who vows revenge.Found it hard to categorize this movie as a crime thriller or as an unintentional comedy. Not one of Hammer's finest films. But still, Christopher Lee first appearance as a Chinese mobster (later followed by the mediocre Fu-Manchu movies) makes this interesting. It's also hilarious to see how British actors try to portray Chinese men. I'm also glad Hammer didn't use Geoffrey Toone as the lead actor in their following movies anymore. The man almost kills the entire movie with his boring emotionless acting. As a comedy I would give it a 5,5/10. As a crime thriller (which I believe Hammer was going for) a 4,5/10.
Own it on region 1 DVD Icons of Adventure box-set together with Stranglers Bombay, The Devil-Ship Pirates and Pirates of the Blood River. - DirectorJohn GillingStarsAndré MorellBarbara ShelleyWilliam LucasA house cat sees her mistress murdered by two servants under orders from her husband , and becomes ferociously bent on revenge. This movie just doesn't succeed in triggering me as an audience member. The cast is great: Andre Morell and Barbara Shelly are always great in a Hammer Film. But the problem is the cat. First it was intended to create the presence of the cat by only showing his literal shadow, but John Gilling (the director) wanted to use a real cat. And the final result comes off as a bit silly. The cat just isn't threatening or scary. The movie is more like an unintentional comedy about a few unlikable people that become completely crazy because of a cat. And the running time of 1h 19 minutes feels more like 2 hours. It's a bit dull. 5/10.

- DirectorTerence FisherStarsChristopher LeePeter CushingRichard PascoIn the early twentieth century, a Gorgon takes human form and terrorizes a small European village by turning its citizens to stone.Atmospheric movie with nice set design and direction. - DirectorRobert DayStarsUrsula AndressPeter CushingBernard CribbinsAn Edwardian archaeologist and two companions stumble upon a lost city in East Africa, run by a beautiful queen whose love holds the promise of immortality. This was my first encounter with Hammer Movies. - DirectorSeth HoltStarsBette DavisWendy CraigJill BennettThere's just something not quite right when Bette Davis stars as an English nanny. And is her 10-year-old charge an emotionally disturbed murderer or just an insolent brat?Slow but immensely suspenseful movie, which keeps it's secrets close to the chest which leaves the viewer guessing till the end. But the pay-off is unusual and unexpectedly gut-wrenching for a Hammer movie. The way they edited one of the scenes near the end (you'll know which one if you've seen the movie) made for a great impact. I was emotionally moved by it. Pretty solid movie with a powerhouse performance from Betty Davis! 7,5/8. Own it on region 2 DVD.
- DirectorDon SharpStarsChristopher LeeBarbara ShelleyRichard PascoThrown out of his monastery for licentious and drunken behavior, Rasputin travels to St Petersburg in pursuit of wealth and prestige. - DirectorTerence FisherStarsChristopher LeeBarbara ShelleyAndrew KeirTen years after his demise, Count Dracula is resurrected by his servant and preys on four unsuspecting English tourists who have taken shelter in his castle.Dracula is back! And I found this movie more exciting than the original. It's my favorite in the Hammer Dracula series. Sadly without Cushing but Andrew Keir is a decent replacement.

- DirectorTerence FisherStarsPeter CushingSusan DenbergThorley WaltersAfter being reanimated, Baron Frankenstein transfers the soul of an executed young man into the body of his lover, prompting her to kill the men who wronged them.I remember liking this Frankenstein sequel more than any of the other fantastic installments in this Hammer franchise. The plot revolves around a classic revenge story and although Frankenstein is not in the centre of it all, I found it still one of the more pleasant Hammer Frankenstein sequels. It was also nice to see director Terence Fisher returning after his absence from Evil of Frankenstein. Own it on region 2 UK DVD.
- DirectorDon ChaffeyStarsDon MurrayCaritaDonald HoustonSaline inherits the kingdom of England on the eve of the signing of the treaty sharing power with the Roman Empire. However, revolt was brewing, threatening the fragile peace.
- DirectorRoy Ward BakerStarsJames DonaldAndrew KeirBarbara ShelleyA mysterious artifact is unearthed in London, and famous scientist Bernard Quatermass is called in to divine its origins and explain its strange effects on people. My second favorite Quatermass movie. The movie builds up the tension by not revealing too much in the beginning. The writing by Nigel Kneale is really clever towards the end and you really buy the twist. Practical effects are effectively used in all their corny delight. And not forgetting Andrew Keir, who is awesome in this flick. Own it on dutch region 2 DVD
- DirectorJohn GillingStarsAndré MorellJohn PhillipsDavid BuckIn 1920 an archaeological expedition discovers the tomb of an ancient Egyptian child prince. Returning home with their discovery, the expedition members soon find themselves being killed off by a mummy, which can be revived by reading the words off the prince's burial shroud. In comparison with the other Mummy movies, this one is a bit underwhelming. The musical theme is excellent. It is a simple decent slasher but could have done a little more with the content it had. Michael Ripper shines in this movie though! Own it on region 2 Blu-ray/DVD collector's edition.
- DirectorFreddie FrancisStarsChristopher LeeRupert DaviesVeronica CarlsonAfter a Monsignor accidentally brings Count Dracula back from the dead while exorcising his castle, the vampire preys on the holy man's beautiful niece and her friends. This movie was my introduction to the Hammer Films. Sad to say, it's least favorite movie in the Dracula series. Not that it's a bad film, but I found it less enjoyable than the other entries (even to some later ones who were so bad, they became laughably entertaining). It could be that I didn't get used to the fact that Fisher direction was noticeably absent. Although the finale is worth mentioning as a positive thing in this movie.

- DirectorPeter SasdyStarsChristopher LeeGeoffrey KeenGwen WatfordAfter killing his disciple, three English gentlemen unwittingly resurrect Count Dracula, who seeks to avenge his servant by making the trio die by the hands of their own children.Interesting and fun movie. Chris Lee has the most laughable and worst dialogue in this film out of all the Dracula's. The movie looks beautiful, has a nice atmosphere and has somewhat engaging characters. Better than "Risen from the Grave" in my opinion. Own it on region 2 Dutch DVD.
- DirectorJimmy SangsterStarsRalph BatesKate O'MaraVeronica CarlsonBrilliant but arrogant scientist Victor Frankenstein builds a man from spare body parts, only for the monster to come alive and wreak havoc.
- DirectorRoy Ward BakerStarsChristopher LeeDennis WatermanJenny HanleyA young man is murdered while spending the night at Count Dracula's castle, prompting his brother to come to the small town where all the traces end to look for him.Drac is back in the final Gothic-themed Dracula for Hammer. I like this installment more than "Risen from the Grave" and "Taste the Blood". It still doesn't hold a candle to the first three Fisher-directed Dracula movies (Horror, Brides, Prince). It's still an enjoyable flick though. Own it on region 2 Dutch DVD.
- DirectorRoy Ward BakerStarsIngrid PittPippa SteelMadeline SmithSeductive vampire Carmilla Karnstein and her family target the beautiful and the rich in a remote area of late eighteenth-century Gemany.Interesting flick, which introduces more sexual elements in the vampire story. - DirectorAlan GibsonStarsChristopher LeePeter CushingStephanie BeachamIn 1972 London - a century after his final battle with Professor Van Helsing - Count Dracula is resurrected by occultist Johnny Alucard, and goes after his archenemy's descendants.I can appreciate this movie more when saw it a second time. This is the only Dracula movie which makes things personal for Van Helsing (played by the brilliant Cushing) and raises the stakes for him. Still I consider it the weakest of all the Hammer Dracula movies. When you lower your expectation for this one, you'll have a pretty good time though. Own it on region 2 Dutch DVD.
- DirectorRobert YoungStarsAdrienne CorriThorley WaltersAnthony HigginsAs the plague sweeps the countryside, a quarantined village is visited by a mysterious traveling circus. Soon, young children begin to disappear, and the locals suspect the circus troupe might be hiding a horrifying secret. It was interesting to see David Prowse without Frankenstein make-up or Darth Vader mask on! Thorley Walters gives a charming performance as always. The execution is creative but the script is lacking. The movie as a whole is a bit boring and the Hammer approach to vampires becomes a bit stale. 5/10. (Own it on a cheap French DVD release)
