- DirectorRoger AppletonStarsJoe AnkrahJames BartonPete BestLiverpool music from the post war years to the present day. Liverpool is one of the most vibrant cities in the world. The film puts into context the musical outpourings of nearly 60 years of world conquering music and the hundreds of bands who have contributed to a musical scene that produced the world's greatest band - The Beatles. What might not always be understood is that in that golden period of 1956 - 1964, Liverpool played host to over 1000 bands and hundreds of venues. It was the home of the UK's largest Country & Western scene, of a hundred skiffle bands, jazz bands and folk. Toxteth was the centre of the black music scene and influences poured in from the docks and the nearby US Airbase. A melting pot of energy and talent - something had to give and it did - bigger than anything that had gone before. How do you follow that? Well, with some years of quiet waters, Liverpool was ready to set sail again to conquer the world. Matthew Street was at the heart of things again and another scene was created out of yet another cellar - Eric's nightclub - with bands such as Deaf School, Echo and the Bunnymen and OMD leading the charge. But the City hadn't finished there. Frankie Goes to Hollywood, the Farm and the La's. There was Cream and Biscuits - well half a biscuit, and half a man - dance and surrealism and still it hasn't stopped. With Wombats, Zutons and Coral, the Liverpool scene keeps on reinventing itself. There are many featured bands, not named here.

More than two decades later, Luis Resto is still a broken man shouldering the burden of his opponent's death; a prison sentence; and a lifetime ban from boxing. And a linesman/manager got booked too. This was the first and only time anything like this had ever happened in British Football. This film, 'BOOKED', is an attempt to investigate this unique, extraordinary event, to uncover the truth, to debunk the myth and finally bring to light a seemingly incredible event which has somehow been all but erased from the record books. BOOKED.

- DirectorJames ErskineStarsFreddie FoxJohn CurryMeg Streeter LauckTHE ICE KING is the searing documentary of a lost cultural icon, a story of art, sport, sexuality, and rebellion. Including incredible unseen footage of some of his mort remarkable performances and with access to Curry's letters, archive interviews, and interviews with his family, friends and collaborators, this is a portrait of the man who turned ice-skating from a dated sport into an exalted art form. Watch any figure skating and it falls into two possible camps: before and after John Curry. From what was a macho, technical sport whose judges punished deviation blossomed - through John Curry's stubborn beauty - ice-dancing. This was no Holiday on Ice, but a new artistic medium. After winning gold at the Winter Olympics for a rebelliously balletic routine, Curry saw the world's stages sheeted with ice. Audiences and reviewers alike were enthralled by his genius. But Curry's story is about more than skating. On the night of the final, Curry became the first openly gay Olympian at a time when homosexuality was barely legal. From bullying and prejudice, to relief in the gay underworld, to his untimely death from AIDS, Curry's story dovetails with the experiences of a generation. Tortured by demons, Curry was forever on the run. Never owning a home, he lived on the favours of those who loved him. The only place he found true freedom was the ice. This is the story of a man whose body was a battleground. From love affairs, to violence in sex clubs, to its 'unmanly' elegance on the ice, every act was rebellion. John Curry was no activist, but an artist expressing his authentic self - yet in a world where his existence was taboo, his life was unavoidably political.

Set in 1960s Soho, the film delves into the world of UK and US organised crime, with gangland figures such as the Krays, boxing, gambling, police corruption and a string of brutal unsolved murders that would become synonymous with the name Freddie Mills. With access to eight hours of previously unseen home movies, this is an intimate portrayal of a man who rose from the humble surroundings of the fairground boxing booth to become world light-heavyweight champion and became a household name appearing on television and in films. But it all ended on 25 July 1965, when he was found shot dead in the back seat of his car. Fifty years after his death, his family still challenge the coroner's verdict of suicide. They have always maintained he was murdered. High-profile gangsters such as Eddie Richardson give first-hand accounts of the criminal underworld that existed at the time, and ultimately a man comes forward who claims to have been involved in the murder of Freddie Mills. It is a piece of testimony that could finally conclude a 50-year mystery for Freddie's family and allow a British boxing great to be remembered for the man he was and his achievements in life, rather than for the single day of his death.
