- In late December of 2017 filmmakers Elan Alexenberg and Sam Lipman-Stern set out on a journey across Latin America. Upon entering into the South of Mexico they began noticing the presence of many vibrant indigenous cultures. Fascinated by the ancient languages, clothes and traditional way of life that dated back thousands of years, they began asking questions, and learned that many Native American cultures still thrived across Central and South America. In Guatemala Sam and Elan met a young Tu'zujil, photographer named Carlos Francisco. The Tu'zujil people are one of the 21 Mayan ethnic groups living in Guatemala. Carlos had made it his mission to document his people's way of life through photography and invited Sam and Elan on one of his photo adventures. The two filmmakers were blessed with the opportunity to capture the incredible dress, language, and ancient culture of the Tu'zujil people through Carlos's lens.
