What started as a low budget horror movie became an international sensation. More than half of all zombie movies have been made since September 11, 2001. Romero did not invent the zombie. Its been around as long as man has walked the earth. The Epic of Gilgamesh was the first mention of zombies. Ishtar said I will raise up the dead and they will eat the living and the dead will outnumber the living. The word zombie means animated corpse which comes from the Haitian voodoo religion. England 12th century Revenant. Cleric William of Newberg documented zombies.
