He intends to turn disparate Rus into a uniform and strong state, realizing that the peoples can't repel the endless invasions of the Russian lands on their own. Mikhail has a difficult choice to make: to accept the will of Moscow or to stick with the local rulers who had helped him more than once in the past and many of whom became his loyal friends. Mikhail decides to listen to his heart and not the reason and ultimately loses the battle against the Grand Prince of Moscow and with his friends and allies ends up in captivity. In the meantime, Tiche is kidnapped by Mikhail's bitter enemy Assyka who wants to regain his control over Parma, believing that Tiche the lamia is his and his alone.

A few years later, the car in which Assia, Artiom and their little daughter, Nadia are driving is attacked. Artiom is killed, while Nadia disappears without trace. Now Assia must find her daughter at any cost.

- On 8th October 1941, Stalin issued a secret order forming a female aviation unit. Known later as the 46th "Taman" Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment, a unit like this had never existed before. Their operational record began at the Salsk Steppes and the Don battles and ended in Nazi Germany. Flying PO-2 night bombers or 'mules', these brave female pilots flew harassment bombing and precision bombing missions, which successfully destroyed the enemy's river crossings, fortifications, machinery and manpower. The regiment flew over 23,000 sorties and is said to have dropped 3,000 tons of bombs. The most highly decorated female unit in the Soviet Air Force, each pilot had flown over 1000 missions by the end of the war with twenty-three pilots awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union. Fighting with equal bravery and skill as their male counterparts earned them the name 'Nachthexen' (Night Witches) by the Germans.

- Dismissed from military service, the captain of the special operations forces Egor Morozov returns "from a hot spot" to his hometown. - Conquest and the struggle of power, victory and defeat, love and betrayal, the rise of culture and the ashes of conflagration - these are just some of the elements of the Rurik dynasty. Founded by the eponymous Varangian prince, the Rurik dynasty ruled the territory of Kievan Rus from 882, and later, several neighbouring principalities including the Grand Duchy of Moscow. Their rule continued until 1610 and the Time of Troubles, after which they were succeeded by the Romanovs. Throughout their rule, the Rurikids fortified, defended and expanded their territory - sometimes with fierce and terrifying battles, sometimes with reconciliation and peace treaties. Most importantly, however, it was under their rule that Russian culture developed, and the Russian nation emerged to become the vast transcontinental and multi-ethnic state that exists today.

- Svetlana lives in a luxurious old house with her 10-year old daughter Galia. The relationship between Andrey and Svetlana becomes romantic, and Irina soon notices their intimacy. Is this a passing fancy or is the love affair the real thing? Is it a simple love triangle? Not quite - there are other elements that appear as the story develops, including an international swindler, a bunch of Russian Security Service agents, a purportedly 'lost' masterpiece by the Russian artist, Kazimir Malevich, and on top of all that, Kovalevsky's son has a serious medical condition, that requires him to be kept on a stable emotional level.

According to information obtained from a recruited German agent, a major act of sabotage is being planned in the Murmansk port, through which the USSR receives vital military cargo from the allies along the northern route. Former high school student Rokotov and the fiery Komsomol Yelagina will have to go a hard way to overcome internal differences and become a unified team that can quickly and effectively respond to constant changes in the situation in the front-line city. Fighting shoulder to shoulder, both with overt and covert enemies, Ivan and Svetlana feel how their professional relationships are growing into something more. In true love, which is possible only a step away from imminent death.

Rokotov, who was educated at a high school during the reign of the last Russian Tsar, and Yelagina, an ardent Young Communist League member, have to overcome their political and ideological differences before being able to work together, reacting quickly and efficiently to the constant changes in the city. Fighting against both overt and clandestine enemies, Ivan and Svetlana begin to experience a shift in their professional relationship, which grows into real love, possible only in the face of certain death. Meanwhile, Mirsky is holding his own investigation aiming at exposing a spy organization that has been operating in Kiev since the late thirties, but his search leads him unexpectedly to a secret conspiratorial group directly connected to his and Rokotov's pasts..
