During one of their mother's outbursts, Timothy comes to the rescue and convinces Patrick to jump out of the bedroom window with him and leave their house to escape the reality in which they live in. The two boys manage to make it to a diner where they are able to discuss their home life. Patrick wants to fit in with everybody else, and be acknowledged for who he is. The two boys soon come face to face with the police due to their mother having reported them as missing. Once again, Patrick is faced with discrimination due to his disability thus leading to the boys making a run for it.
