- A female teacher working in a small French-Canadian school in the middle of nowhere, Canada, tries to motivate her class. She especially takes interest in one of the boys, a young half-Native, half-white boy who is shunned by other kids.
- When Becky makes a wish, a cowboy painting on the mural comes to life. His name is Ned Kincaid, and he became great friends with Stacy Jones. No one knows that Ned Kincaid was just a fictional cowboy coming from the mural from many centuries ago. Schemer becomes jealous when no one pays attention to him so he decided to start a train full of passengers in order to impress everybody. Suddenly, the train started to move, so Schemer gets scared and he jumps out. The train is moving at high speed, but there is no driver. Ned Kincaid comes to the rescue and runs after the train on his horse. He manages to jump on the train and save everybody from a big accident. By the end of the day, Ned Kincaid disappears back into the painting in the mural. That evening, while Stacy is preparing to go home, a man comes to the station. To her surprise, the man is very similar to Ned and his family name is also Kincaid; he turns out to be the great-grandson of Ned Kincaid.
- Billy's nephew, Kit, comes to visit the station. He runs into trouble when he accidentally breaks the window of the signal house. Meanwhile, Schemer's baseball team is practicing for an upcoming game. Kit decides to join the team, but is having a lot of trouble hitting the ball and does not feel too good about himself. He has a talk with an old man named Max who gives him some good advice. Max resided alone in the signal house and was a former baseball player. He teaches Kit how to play baseball and is a great source of inspiration for the young boy. When Kit is falsely accused of painting on the baseball scoreboard, he feels rejected and decides to leave. However, Max manages to stop Kit's train from departing the station. Meanwhile, Schemer's team is playing against the Snarleyville baseball team. After Schemer learns that his nephew, Schemee, is conspiring with the other team, he takes him out of the team. Now that his team is short one player, Schemer becomes desperate to find a replacement player, and eventually gives the spot back to Kit. Thanks to Max's advice, Kit hits a home run to give his team the win. Kit's relationship with his uncle Billy is also revived.
- Hub and Fat get involved with Mr. Sutton's athletic club with the hopes of winning prize money.
- Grace gets invited to go to a wedding with Judd Wainwright, but May Bailey doesn't want her to go.
- When hard times hit Jack and Honey Bailey, they move with their three kids to Jack's hometown of New Bedford where his affluent family lives.
- New Bedford's transient population causes an uproar, and a mischievous dog causes disruption in May Bailey's house.
