- Koji, a jazz musician, takes a cigarette break in between sets at a Tokyo nightclub. He witnesses a murder and runs into a girl, Linda, who is being pursued by the killers. For the next two hours, Koji and Linda are running from both the hitmen and the police. Mistakenly identified as prime suspects, they have to solve the crime but time is running out: Koji has to be back to perform in his club by midnight, as a very special guest will be attending.
- Ikigami takes place in a dystopian society where the government has implemented the "Prosperity Law". This law dictates 1 in 1000 random citizens ages 18~24 will die for the state in a mandatory lottery. Death occurs at a preset date and time, which is when an injected nano-capsule, received at an early age, explodes. The law is meant to create appreciation for life by instilling fear in order to make people live the best possible lives.
- Working long hours in the emergency room, nurse Kana Aoshima befriends musician and frequent hospital patient Shogo Amami. Shogo's therapy visits for his muteness and blindness happen to frequently coincide with Kana's shift, which enables the nurse to get to know the handsome artist well enough to start falling in love with him. Fate intercedes, however, when Shogo is killed after being hit by a car -- a development that utterly crushes Kana's will to live. Shogo's spirit is transported to heaven, where it is given the chance to return to Earth to assist Kana through her grieving and to renew her sense of faith in the world -- with the only caveat being he cannot reveal his identity to Kana.
- A woman who cursed people to death turns herself in the police. Ukyo and Wataru realize that three people close to her died suspiciously and keep researching without certain clues.
- Ukyo is asked to find "Haruma Kudo" by Haga who met him at a cigar bar. On the other hand, Wataru is also asked to find "Kudo" by Sakurako. Ukyo and Wataru try to find him with a smell of a cigar.
- Yanaka who is sentenced because of a cancer finds an old man committing suicide and stops him, yet the old man is killed at his house 3 weeks later. Ukyo and Wataru investigate Yanaka, but he has a certain alibi.
- A fraud, Hirai, bumps into a woman is being snatched and saves her. Ukyo sees the case coincidentally, but Hirai goes away before he talks to him. Ukyo and Wataru meet Hirai to appreciate but realize that he is a weird person.
- In a day off, Ukyo and Wataru visit to an art auction hall and see Mikami refuses his own auction. At the night, he falls off a footbridge and dies. They start investigating the case and find a problem of "Blue Picasso."
- A girl who heard sounds of a fighting next door and thought that a murder occurred tells about that to Ukyo and Wataru. They investigate, but her neighbors know nothing about the sound. They try to clarify who lies.
- Two elementary school students are kidnapped, and one of them is found dead. His mother cries at a police station, yet she laughs on her way home. Wataru follows her and hears that she talks with the boy should've died.
