- Drop Zone: Everest Follows a Team of Former Special Operators as they Skydive into Mt. Everest to honor and Support America's Fallen Heroes Dan Myrick, acclaimed writer/director of The Blair Witch Project, and movie producer Kristian Krempel join Legacy Studios, the newly established production arm of veteran-owned extreme expedition firm Legacy Expeditions. Captured by award-winning cinematographer Elia Saikaly, the story follows retired Navy SEAL Mike Sarraille and a team of former special operators as they skydive into Mt. Everest in honor of the brave men and women who lost their lives during Extortion 17, the single greatest loss of American lives in Afghanistan. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the majestic Himalayan mountains, Drop Zone: Everest captures the challenges of preparing and executing jumps into the world's highest drop zones, including sub-zero temperatures, unpredictable winds, and low oxygen levels. Along with facing the harsh conditions of Nepal's Everest region, the team must also come to terms with the emotional toll of a war that's lasted more than two decades. "While everyone experiences peaks and valleys in life, it's the journey that builds character and gives us purpose," said Sarraille. "I'm humbled for the opportunity to help children whose lives were forever changed when they lost a parent during Extortion 17," he added. Having recently joined the Legacy Studios' team, director Dan Myrick said, "Switching to documentary production is exciting because these films share inspiring, life-changing journeys. Drop Zone: Everest gives us a fresh look at Everest and reframes public perception of special operators."
