He hires hit men to kill the baby but Suraj manages to get away with his son. They move to a unknown place and he raises his son with help from the villagers. Suraj later meets Vaijanti (Shilpa Shetty), an eccentric fisher woman who his son sees as a mother and friend. Vaijanti begins to love Suraj and hopes that he feels the same way. Komal, depressed and lonely, spots her son with Suraj. Then begins a bitter custody battle between her and Suraj.

Years later, Rajesh has grown up, drives a truck, and is in love with a local shop-keeper, Chanda, who he would like to marry. Janki would like her son to go and meet his dad, and when Rajesh does so, Rajlaxmi arranges a pompous welcome for him with open arms, hoping that he will leave his mother and stay on with her. But Rajesh refuses to do this unless Rajlaxmi apologizes to Janki. An enraged Rajlaxmi refuses to do so, and asks Rajesh to leave. Rajesh and Chanda get married, and soon Chanda gets pregnant. Then the police arrest Rajesh, for which he may face several years in prison. He is held in the local police station. The truth does prevail, the real culprit is caught, and Rajesh is let go. He returns home to find out that everything is not the same anymore. Chanda has given birth a baby boy, and now lives with Rajlaxmi, and refuses to return home. Rajesh must now find out what compelled Chanda to leave Janki and go to live with Rajlaxmi.
- Honest and dedicated Police Inspector Kumar Chandra Singh intercepts a bank robbery, and is in the process of arresting the bank robbers, when he himself becomes a suspect, and is apprehended with a suitcase containing some of the cash stolen from that bank. Kumar is stripped of his powers as a policeman; is arrested; tried in court; and sentenced to prison. As a result of his arrest, his mother dies of shock and disbelief. He is crippled in an accident, and must use the help of crutches to walk. And for this he finds support in Kamini, Sonia, Sunita, and Shanker Dada, little knowing that one of these women was herself involved in getting him arrested.

He is enraged when he finds that the only one sent to visit him is Sita, his granddaughter, and the excuse for Vasudev and Suman not attending is that "they are busy". Old wounds surface, and Sitaram will have nothing to do with his granddaughter, who has brought a special gift for her granddad, from her dad. But Sitaram will not accept this gift, until and unless his son himself comes to deliver it to him, and it is then he comes to know the truth behind his son's absence.
