- Shyam, a middle-class man, falls in love with a millionaire's daughter and marries her. However, as their relationship starts deteriorating, Shyam finds solace in the company of Radha.
- The movie belongs to Bindu. Handsome , good looking Anil Dhawan takes employment under big boss Pradeep Kumar. Among his other duties, he also has to make his boss's daughter Neetu Singh fall in love with him. Pradeep's second wife Man-eater Bindu herself is young and pretty . Once she sets eyes on Anil , she wants him for herself. From here starts a game between the three. Bindu looks very glam in her body hugging satin slit dresses. Neetu singh is cute as a button in her minis and knee high boots. Anil seduces the camera , the audience , every one else .. .. along with Bindu and Neetu . He is a great eye candy . A couple of sizzling hummable songs are thrown in . Veteran Pradeep Kumar is good as the unsuspecting husband and caring father. In the end, Bindu redeems herself and donates her eyes ( while dying ) to Anil's blind sister Vidya Sinha ( in a small role ) . The movie is a delight to watch . It remains with you for a long time after it has ended.
- Asha lives a poor lifestyle along with her widowed dad, is in love with aspiring doctor Raj Kumar, and hopes to marry him someday. When Raj announces that he is traveling abroad to study, she decides to wait for him, but her father, on his deathbed, makes her promise to marry Simla-based Gopal Chopra, who is the son of his friend, Shyamlal, to which Asha agrees. The marriage takes place and soon they become parents of three daughters, Basanti - a tomboy, who excels in self-defense; Barkha an aspiring dancer, and Bulbul who wants to be a professional piano player and is on medication as she has a hole in her heart. Gopal gets a promotion and re-locates to Bombay but continues to remain in touch with his family. Then the past is re-visited when Raj, now a doctor, comes to live in their neighborhood. He meets with Asha, and decides to teach Bulbul piano lessons, while his brother, Advocate Anand, romances Basanti. Their idyllic lives are shattered when Raj is arrested for killing a man named Mangatram who was blackmailing Asha for hiding a secret from the rest of her family.
- Young and attractive Kunti has fallen in love with a young man by the name of Anil, and both intend to marry. They do get intimate which ends in Kunti getting pregnant. Kunti finds out that Anil comes from a poor family, and she would only like to marry someone rich, so that she can lead a comfortable and stylish life. When Anil finds out that Kunti does not marry him, he kills himself. Kunti is unable to abort the child, as it is illegal at that time, so she goes away from her home, with a close friend, Chanda, and gives birth to a baby girl, who she leaves in Chanda's care. Eventually, Kunti's dreams are fulfilled when she marries a rich and wealthy Barrister by the name of Avinash Kumar. Unfortunately, Kunti is unable to conceive, however the couple are contend with their lives. Years later, Kunti finds out that Avinash is having an affair with a female client by the name of Moon Moon, a woman born out of wedlock. When she confronts him, he admits knowing and meeting his mistress, and openly declares his love for her, leaving Kunti humiliated and downcast. Kunti then decides to meet Moon Moon and it is during this meeting she will find out the stark truth behind Avinash's affair with her.
- Ram meets Chitralekha on a train journey who suddenly disappears.He then encounters her on many occasions where she claims that they were separated in previous life.Ram believes that Chitralekha is a ghost and wants to take him along.Ram's mother fixes his marriage but on wedding day he is surprised to see that his bride is Chitralekha and refuses to accept her.
- The story surrounds the lives of Dr. Rehman (Shashi Kapoor) who believes in saving the lives of the poor, instead of opening up a clinic in a big city and making money; Soni (Rekha), an innocent village girl, who was abducted by dacoits during her marriage with Dharma (Puneet Issar), and when the police rescue her and bring her back to her groom, he and his family reject her, making her seem like a fallen woman; Dr. Kumar (Ashok Kumar) who is the very opposite of Dr. Rehman; and Dr. Anand (Vinod Mehra), the son of Dr. Kumar. Dr. Anand practices under Dr. Rehman, who testified for him during a criminal trial for malpractice which resulted in the death of the husband of Rani Sahiba (Moon Moon Sen). Soni has fallen in love with Dr. Anand, but Dr. Anand has strong reservations against her, due to her background.
- The Principal of New Era High School in Panchgani finds an orphan, Raju, who had lost his parents to plague, brings him home, and enrolls him in the school. Raju notices that while every student has parents and visitors, he has no one to call his own. He gets distraught and is assured by the Principal that he does have a relative in Chacha Nehru (Jawaharlal Nehru, the Indian Prime Minister). Raju believes him, and when he finds out through his teacher, Uma, that Nehru will be delivering a speech in Chowpatty, Bombay, he sneaks off in the trunk of a car. Upon arrival he faces harsh realities, his money is almost stolen, and he is befriended by a cynical deranged male, who tells him that Nehru is now a speech-prone politician and is unable to hear what the common citizen has to say. He also tells him that Nehru has left Chowpatty and is at the Government Bungalow. Both take a cab there, but are told that Nehru has departed for Delhi. Raju attempts to go to Delhi but is abducted by Ustad Mansharam and forced to beg on the streets along with a blind beggar, Kavita, who lives with a child, Rani. When Ustad's men blind Rani, Raju attempts to run away with her, but abandons her and sneaks abroad a Delhi-bound train. Upon arrival, he passes out on the street due to exhaustion and hunger and is rescued by a kind-hearted resident who also summons the Principal, Uma, and Uma's fiancé, Rakesh. Together they prepare Raju to meet with Nehru and impress upon him that the very people who are supposed to protect the most vulnerable are, in fact, exploiting them. Will Raju be able to take this message to Nehru?
