- A dramatic, energetic adaptation of Heinz Spoerli's ballet based on Grieg's Peer Gynt by the Zurich ballet.

Belmonte finds his fiancée Constanze and her English maid Blondchen ('Blondie'), who were captured and sold by pirates, in the Meditarranean seraglio of the Ottoman pasha (military lord) Selim. Belmonte's servant Pedrillo gets him engaged as builder. After Selim tried to enforce himself upon Konstanze, Pedrillo and Blondchen, his own sweetheart, prepare their flight, managing to get Osmin, the pashas overseer, drunk. Yet Osmin and Selim's guard still capture them, already in the garden; however the touching display of true love melts the pashas heart, so he lets them go.
- The Frankish knight Roland captures Fierrabras, son of the Prince of the Moors, and out of chivalry has King Karl spare him. Karl remands Fierrabras to Roland's custody, and they become friends. Ronald is in love with Karl's daughter Emma, but as a simple knight, he is not of the status to marry Princess Emma, although she loves him. Emma is betrothed to Eginhard, King Karl's army commander. Roland and Emma decide to elope in the garden at night, but King Karl catches them. In the bad light, Fierrabras is able to take the fall for Roland, who spared his life, and gets put in prison. Eventually, King Karl learns the truth from Emma and sets Fierrabras free, and Fierrabras and Roland strike out together against the Moors. Fierrabaras will not strike his own father, however, and the opera ends in a happy reconciliation between the parties. - Rossini's popular work - which was first performed in 1816 at the Teatro Argentina in Rome - contains some of opera's most tuneful and recognizable music - from its lively overture to Figaro's Largo al factotum to Rosina's Una voce poco fa. Based on the play of the same title by the French dramatist Beaumarchais (1732-1799), the opera is a delightful rigmarole of riotous situations in a race to win the hand of the young Rosina. Vesselina Kasarovas Rosina made this production of 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia' a memorable event. She captivated the audience with fluent coloraturas, an infinite variety of tone colors and nuances of expression, as well as her phenomenal versatility as an actress.
- Opting for the French-language version of Gluck's Orpheus, David Alagna was faced with the task of achieving an appropriately subtle adaptation. In a plot transposed to the present day, Eurydice dies in a car accident on the day of her wedding, and Orpheus's quest for his beloved is a dream beginning and ending at the cemetery. No happy ending in this interpretation, but a new approach to characterisation: Amore, sung by a baritone, becomes a funeral parlour employee and Orpheus's guide. And Orpheus, of course, loses his loved one forever by turning to look back. The enormously talented Roberto Alagna throws himself body and soul into this production. His incredible vitality and flawless timbre and diction make him a great Orpheus.
