Reality television series have an incredibly hit-or-miss track record when it comes to producing viable music acts, especially bands made up of people who have only ever wanted to be solo artists. The 2010s struck gold with One Direction, Fifth Harmony, and Little Mix — all of which were products of The X Factor, and only one of which actually won their respective season. The 2000s had Making the Band, but Danity Kane’s “Damaged” is really the only good thing to have come out of that. Now, Netflix will take...

“Kung Fu Panda 4” (Universal) debuted on PVOD to #1 April 9, which it has enjoyed for a week; that will end with “Dune: Part 2” (Warner Bros.), which debuts today after 46 days in release.
Both films still are in the box office Top 10. “Panda” actually rose one position to #4 this weekend, with its 29 percent drop the lowest of any holdover on the list. It still has a shot at a $200 million domestic gross. “Dune 2,” which was #5 this weekend and will get close to $300 million, will likely minimize the impact of parallel home availability given its essential visual presentation.
Based on presales, “Dune 2” is already #6 on iTunes top 10 list (ranked by transactions). Other platforms stick to currently available titles, but it would be surprising if it’s not immediately #1 on both iTunes and Fandango.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on April 12 with the fifteenth episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Previously in episode 14, the top four told stories of their own lives memoir style in podcast interviews. Plane Jane and Q found themselves vulnerable as the bottom two and Q was shocked to be sent home instead of marching on to the “Grand Finale” alongside her sisters.
This week, instead of the standard reunion episode, RuPaul Charles invites the eliminated queens back for a “LipSync Lalaparuza Smackdown” where one comes out on top of the tournament $50,000 richer. Seated at the judges’ dais this week to help decide the match-up winners were longtime bestie Michelle Visage and recurring judge Ts Madison.

Just once, it would be refreshing to see a serial killer movie in which the detectives investigating a series of horrific murders were actually normal, well-adjusted individuals. The kind of cops who leave their work at the office, go home to their families, and drink only the occasional beer or glass of wine at dinner. The ones, in other words, who don’t live up to the title of the new thriller featuring a top-billed Samuel L. Jackson but in which the real leading player is Gianni Capaldi, who also co-scripted.
That’s definitely not the case with Damaged, a routine cop movie mainly distinguished by its extensive Scottish locations. Jackson plays Dan Lawson, a Chicago detective still haunted by a bunch of killings years earlier in which one of the victims was his own girlfriend. When a similar series of murders — in which the victims’ bodies are dismembered and...

Plot: Dan Lawson, a Chicago detective, travels to Scotland to link up with Scottish Det. Boyd, following the resurgence of a serial killer whose crimes match an unsolved case that he looked into 5 years previous in Chicago.
Review: Ever since David Fincher’s Se7en, I’ve been a fan of the simple premise of a detective hunting down a serial killer. This game of cat and mouse allows for just the right amount of mystery and intrigue that will keep you guessing until the end. I’d argue the big reveal at the end is nearly as synonymous with crime thrillers as cops and criminals. If there’s one thing a good mystery needs, it’s something unexpected. And Damaged certainly has that.
The story follows Detective Lawson (Samuel L. Jackson) as he travels to Scotland to help with a case. Someone is recreating the murders that Lawson investigated back in Chicago five years prior,...

Five years ago, a serial killer terrorized Chicago. Detective Dan Lawson was assigned to the case but couldn’t bring the killer to justice. It left him a badly damaged man, drinking on the job and obsessed with revenge. Doubly so because one of the victims was his own girlfriend whom he discovered, her head and limbs in the shape of a cross, her torso missing.
In Edinburgh, Detective Glen Boyd finds himself investigating a murder that looks to be the work of the same person. He reaches out to the Chicago Pd, who are only too happy to put Lawson on the next flight to Scotland. Fortunately, there weren’t any motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane.
Things, of course, don’t go well.

On March 27th of last year, we heard that filming was underway on a serial killer action thriller called Damaged, which had Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) and Vincent Cassel (Black Swan) in the lead roles and director Terry McDonough, whose previous credits include episodes of the TV shows Killing Eve, Better Call Saul, and Breaking Bad, at the helm. Now, just eight days shy of the one year anniversary of that news, a trailer for Damaged has arrived online, along with some release date information: the film will be receiving a theatrical, digital, and on demand release on April 12th. The trailer can be seen in the embed above.

"He's toying with you, Glen." Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for the film Damaged, a mysterious serial killer action thriller from the UK. It's now set for release in the US in early April both on VOD and in theaters. The film follows Dan Lawson, a Chicago detective, who travels to Scotland to link up with Scottish Det. Glen Boyd, following the resurgence of a serial killer who's crimes match an unsolved case that he also looked into five years previous in Chicago. What is the connection? Samuel L. Jackson stars as Lawson, and Scottish actor Gianni Capaldi co-stars as Boyd, also credited on co-writing the screenplay. The official synopsis asks: "How do you catch a brilliant monster?" So this is Silence of the Lambs again? The cast also includes Vincent Cassel, Laura Haddock, John Hannah, Katie Dickie, and Brian McCardie. This doesn't look as bad as it could,...

Paramount+ may have culled a wealth of international originals in the past couple of weeks but that hasn’t stopped it committing to a UK thriller series set in a world where men live under a strict nightly curfew.
Starring Sarah Parish, Doctor Who’s Mandip Gill, Mitchell Robertson and singer Alexandra Burke, Curfew is set in a society where all men live under ‘The Women’s Safety Act’, meaning they are bound by a strict curfew from 7Pm to 7Am every night, with their movements tracked by an ankle tag 24 hours a day. When a woman’s body is discovered, brutally murdered during curfew hours and left on the steps of the Women’s Safety Centre, veteran Police officer Pamela Green believes that a man is responsible. But in a world where men are bound by the curfew system, her theory is rejected.

Quentin Tarantino and Samuel L. Jackson’s collaboration over the years has churned out some great performances from the actor. Jackson is presented uniquely and interestingly every time he stars in a Tarantino flick. The actor got to play some of the most entertaining characters in his career including Jules in Pulp Fiction, Odell in Jackie Brown, and Stephen in Django Unchained.
Quentin Tarantino in Pulp Fiction
Tarantino films are known for their entertaining tone and inclusion of hard R language. They also include calling black people the N-word. This led to some sections of the audience calling him racist. However, Jackson clapped back at the haters and defended the characterization of black characters in his films.

As the Joker once said, “Desire becomes surrender. Surrender becomes power.” As it turns out, sometimes power becomes regret, too, as Suicide Squad director David Ayer has expressed just that over one of the Joker’s tattoos. Yeah, that one…
Posting on social media, David Ayer (who had previously helmed Fury and Sabotage by the time he landed Suicide Squad) said he wishes the Joker’s forehead tattoo, which reads Damaged, said something else entirely, as the one we all know – and mostly hate – only split audiences. “I own the tattoo idea 100% It was my choice. Original idea is it would say “Blessed” and not “Damaged” Now having said that — I regret that decision. It created acrimony and division. Not every idea is a good idea. And I’ll just be in the corner here while the internet slaps me around for this post.”

Nearly 20 years ago, Making The Band presented a model of the music industry’s dystopian future. The entire concept was in the title — throw a group of random, desperate and wide-eyed musicians from across the nation together, and force them to coalesce into something marketable — until Diddy envisioned something more powerful and everlasting. In quick succession, the world received Da Band, Day26, and Danity Kane. Now Diddy and MTV are reviving the concept in another effort to sell consumers’ childhoods back to them.
