Rockstar Games has made a name for themselves for the meticulous attention to detail they put into their projects. And Red Dead Redemption 2 is the perfect example of this. The game is known for its authentic portrayal of the Wild West. But this authenticity didn’t come easily.
According to Michael Unsworth, Writing Director at Rockstar Games, they overhauled their initial character dialogues to avoid sounding too “cliche” and “rowdy.” He admits that there was a point where their design became too stereotypical.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set in an old Western state of Ambarino. The game follows an old outlaw Arthur Morgan and his gang, led by the charmer Dutch van der Linde on the decline, due to old age and the fall of the Old West in 1899.

Shannen Doherty credits her passion for acting to her late Little House on the Prairie co-star Michael Landon.
The actress looked back at the early days of her career in Hollywood on a recent episode of the Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty podcast, alongside her mother, Rosa Elizabeth Doherty. At 11 years old, Doherty landed the role of Jenny Wilder on the show’s final season, from 1982-83.
“That show, Little House, shaped me in so many ways and it still is the best experience of my entire career,” the Charmed star said.
She also noted her close bond with Landon, who played Charles Ingalls, the family patriarch. He died in 1991. “I adored him. He was a mentor. He taught me so much,” Doherty recalled.
Even decades later, the Beverly Hills, 90210 actress said she still notices the influence Landon had on her.

With every role, Jason Bateman established and built on his legacy over the last four decades. Be it as a child star in the ubiquitous great American classic, Little House on the Prairie, or his status as a teenage heartthrob in Teen Wolf, or his dramatic achievement in the Emmy-winning Netflix series, Ozark, Bateman’s range, style, and talent has never failed to deliver on screen.

Comedian Ray Ellin remembers watching Little House on the Prairie from an early age and being captivated by the Ingalls family adventures in Walnut Grove. His love of the American western drama only grew stronger as a teenager into adulthood when the series landed in syndication. Ray Ellin “The show has a bit of everything; drama, suspense, love, villains, action, occasionally comedy,” Ellin said. “I liked watching both the caring, healthy families, as well as the dysfunctional ones.” “They were constantly overcoming adversity, and I think as a kid I found that intriguing. It’s fun watching the bad guy, but it was also good to watch people come together either as a family or community. And as a kid, seeing the strong kids defend the weak ones felt good to watch.” Ellin turned this devotion into a weekly podcast Wild Nights on the Prairie with Ray Ellin. The show...

The Western is a genre that's mostly gone by the wayside in recent decades, as portraits of straight-shooting American heroes and uncomplicated "bad guys" have become less digestible to the public. While popular neo-Westerns (like "Justified" or the works of Taylor Sheridan) and perspective-changing genre breakdowns have made a splash in recent yers, the genre has mostly died out. Of the relics that remain, few are as prolific and familiar as "Bonanza," a Western series that ran for an impressive 14 seasons on NBC in the '60s and '70s.
As a long-running TV series, "Bonanza" was able to chart the change — or stubborn lack thereof — within the genre and the country, frankly addressing topics like racism and bigotry while also delivering regular laughs and a dash of melodrama to loyal viewers. The series starred Lorne Green as widower Ben Cartwright and Dan Blocker, Pernell Roberts, and Michael Landon as Ben's three sons.

Little House on the Prairie star Charlotte Stewart has been reflecting on her life and career as the hit show celebrates its 50th anniversary this coming September. Stewart, who played beloved teacher Miss Beadle in the iconic western-historical drama, joined her former cast and crew members at Simi Valley, California, this past weekend for a special three-day festival honoring the milestone event. Speaking to The Sun, the veteran actress recalled her audition for Little House, where she showed up in a tie-dye T-shirt and jeans. “I walked in, and there was Michael Landon [the producer], and I thought to myself, ‘Oh my God, this is really big,'” she shared, “So they said, ‘Are you ready to read?’ And I looked at the producer who was sitting behind this big desk with all these executives around him, and I said, ‘May I sit behind your desk?'” “So he got up and moved,...

Ernie Hudson, the 78-year-old actor who has appeared in all five of the “Ghostbusters” movies and several “Ghostbusters” video games, spoke with The Independent about the franchise in the lead-up to “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.”
The role of Winston Zeddmore was originally offered to Eddie Murphy, and when that didn’t happen, his character’s screen time was greatly reduced. As such, Hudson’s pay was much smaller than that of the other three Ghostbusters, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis (the latter two also wrote the script). He also did not appear on any of the posters.
“It’s very tempting, sometimes, to blame anything that doesn’t work in your life on racism. But there are a lot of things that play into it. It’s not quite that simple,” he explained. “We can say it’s a racial thing, but I think if Eddie Murphy had played the role I played,...

Alison Arngrim and Melissa Gilbert might have played mortal enemies on Little House on the Prairie, but that couldn’t have been any further from the truth in real life. The actresses came back together for the show’s 50th Anniversary Cast Reunion and Festival in Simi Valley, California, on Saturday, March 23, and Arngrim spoke to People about their relationship on and off-screen. “Here’s Melissa Gilbert and I playing mortal enemies, beating each other senseless all week,” Arngrim said. “And then on the weekends, we’d go to each other’s house for a slumber party and we were hanging out.” Gilbert played the lead, Laura Ingalls, in the beloved series, while Arngrim starred as schoolyard bully, Nellie Oleson. On-screen, the pair often clashed in arguments and even physical fights. But when the cameras weren’t rolling, Arngrim said she and Gilbert were “like sisters” and even choreographed their fight scenes together.

Very sad news today as it’s been reported that M. Emmet Walsh has died at the age of 88. No matter the size of the role, the prolific character actor always made a unique impression throughout his long career, which spanned six decades.
M. Emmet Walsh is best known for playing Bryant in Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, the captain of the Los Angeles Police Department who tasks Deckard with tracking down the replicants at the beginning of the film. He told THR that the cast and crew weren’t quite sure what the make of the movie when they first saw it. “I don’t know if I really understood what in the hell it was all about,” Walsh said. “We all sat there and it ended. And nothing. We didn’t know what to say or to think or do! We didn’t know what in the hell we had done!

"Halloween Kills" might be one of the weaker installments in the long-running "Halloween" franchise, but one of its stars is anything but. Richards, a former child actress who is perhaps now best known as a castmate on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," played Michael Myers survivor Lindsey in the recent David Gordon Green movie (a role she originated in the 1978 classic), and apparently went above and beyond when it came to the film's stunt scenes.

Coachella planners would never casually drop Ariana Grande on a Friday afternoon, so it was unexpected (and, perhaps, a bit of a relief?) that BravoCon scheduled the cast of Vanderpump Rules just a few hours into day one.

Melissa Gilbert, the former president of SAG-AFTRA from 2001-2005, thinks that SAG-AFTRA’s new Halloween guidelines are ridiculous.

Alongside an image of a Hollywood Reporter story about the guild’s rules, Gilbert wrote on Instagram, “This is what you guys come up with? Literally, no one cares what anyone wears for Halloween. I mean, do you really think this kind of infantile stuff is going to end the strike? We look like a joke.”
She continues, “Please tell me you’re going to make this rule go away…. and go negotiate! For the love of God, people are suffering mightily and this is what you have to say… c’mon.”

This article contains spoilers for the final episode of Malcolm in the Middle.
Besides animated series, there are very few sitcoms which maintain a consistent level of hilarity with every beat of comic timing. No matter what point you turn on Malcolm in the Middle, any episode, something will make you laugh within 18 seconds. I’m not talking giggles or chuckles, but full-out guffaws that make you miss the next six jokes.
Other shows may be more consistent in overall quality, but none match the stream of funny that comes out of the series created by Linwood Boomer, himself the third of four siblings who was placed in the “gifted” class at school. After graduating, Boomer acted on Little House on the Prairie, another show focusing on a middle child. The semi-autobiographical Malcolm in the Middle doesn’t just call for a second look. It screams for a repeat binge.

Gracenote, a unit of Nielsen known for providing entertainment metadata and content IDs, on Tuesday unveiled a new offering to help content companies get their Free Ad-Supported Streaming (Fast) channels and programming distributed by major streaming platforms more easily. The Fast Program, which promises to “streamline” Fast initiatives, was announced at the International Broadcasting Convention (Ibc) in Amsterdam.
“Leveraging advanced data enrichment services, the Gracenote Fast Program will help Gracenote customers accelerate time-to-market for their Fast offerings just as they become increasingly important to their overall content monetization strategies,” the company said. “No longer a testing ground for content owners and publishers, Fast has matured quickly into a proven revenue driver through advertising sales. Now that Fast has grown up, content owners are realizing the need for high-quality normalized metadata and connected content IDs to facilitate distribution on streaming platforms, drive program and channel visibility as well as increase viewership.

“The Promised Land” deserves a sexier title than “The Promised Land”: It’s hard to hear those well-worn words and not expect something as beige and starchy as the spuds grown on its titular terrain. It has one, in fact. The native Danish title for Nikolaj Arcel’s film translates as “The Bastard” — which has the advantage of applying, in different senses, to both its male principals, and rather better captures the spirit of this lavishly upholstered historical romp, which may pose nobly at points, but gradually reveals a heart of pure boys’-own hokum. Notionally rooted in historical fact, but embellished with storybook romance and flouncing cartoon villainy, this roundly enjoyable Venice competition entry finally owes all its residual gravitas (and at least half its considerable handsomeness) to the expressive woodcut visage of one Mads Mikkelsen.

Hersha Parady, who won the hearts of Little House on the Prairie viewers with her 1977-1980 portrayal of Walnut Grove schoolteacher and Ingalls Family friend Alice Garvey, died yesterday in Norfolk, Virginia, following surgery last month for the brain cancer meningioma. She was 78.
Her death was announced by her son Jonathan Peverall. Parady died in Peverall’s hometown of Norfolk.
In a Facebook post last night, co-star and friend Alison Arngrim, who played the troublemaking Nellie Oleson on Little House, wrote, “Our wild, untameable, talented Hersha has left us. Rest in power.”

Hersha Parady, known for her role as Alice Garvey on NBC‘s Little House on the Prairie, has died at the age of 78. She passed away on August 23 in her son Jonathan Peverall’s home in Norfolk, Virginia, according to Peverall. The actress suffered from a brain tumor, and her son set up a GoFundMe account in order to help pay the expenses. Parady and former NFL star Merlin Olsen were introduced in Season 4 of the series as husband and wife Alice and Jonathan Garvey in September 1977. She took on the role for 35 episodes. Her Walnut Grove schoolteacher character was tragically killed during a Season 6 episode, “May We Make Them Proud,” a two-hour episode, which saw Alice race to save some children inside a burning school for the blind, including Mary and Adam’s (Melissa Sue Anderson & Linwood Boomer) infant son. Alice finds the baby and tries to escape through an upstairs bedroom window,...

Hersha Parady, who played schoolteacher Alice Garvey on the beloved show “Little House on the Prairie,” has died after a long struggle with a brain tumor. She was 78.
The actress’ death was first confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by her son, Jonathan Peverall, who did not immediately respond to messages sent Thursday. Peverall had started a GoFundMe page to help with her medical expenses.
“Hersha, who has always been an active and outgoing woman, is battling a tough medical condition – a brain tumor known as meningioma,” he wrote in July.”This illness has robbed her of her strength, her memory, and sadly, her vibrant personality. She has become largely bedridden, and it is very difficult to see my Mom, who was once full of life and energy, now struggling with basic daily activities.”

This year’s Emmy nominees will highlight a more diverse crop of actors, with Latino performers having a particularly strong showing.
Of course, much of that is thanks to Pedro Pascal, who has become the most-nominated Latino in a single year with three noms. He’s recognized for his work in “The Last of Us” as lead drama actor, “Saturday Night Live” as guest comedy actor and “Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World” as the narrator. Pascal’s nomination for HBO’s dystopian video game adaptation makes him only the second Latino ever recognized in the drama category after Jimmy Smits’ four consecutive noms for “NYPD Blue” from 1996-1999. But there were some notable Latino stars who didn’t hear their names read — namely, Diego Luna, who was snubbed for Disney’s “Andor,” despite its best drama series nomination.

During the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the entertainment industry completely shut down. But as time progressed and we learned more about how the virus operates, Covid specialists were brought onto projects to help keep filming safe. Around this time, Little House on the Prairie alum Melissa Gilbert got the opportunity to audition for a television series filming in Canada, but she ultimately decided to turn it down. Here’s why.
Melissa Gilbert didn’t want to be away from husband Timothy Busfield
The producers of the television show wanted to bring Gilbert in for an audition, but if she got the role, she’d have to film in Canada for several months.
“I wouldn’t be allowed to visit home at all because of quarantine rules,” she wrote in her 2022 memoir, Back to the Prairie. “Tim would soon be filming his show For Life in New York City and...

Not too long before the Covid-19 pandemic, Little House on the Prairie alum Melissa Gilbert and her husband thirtysomething actor Timothy Busfield bought a little cabin in the Catskills. When March 2020 came, the home acted as a safe haven for the couple. Along with playing wiffle ball and raising chickens, gardening is something Gilbert got really into. Of her bountiful harvest, her cucumbers-turned-pickles were among her favorites.
The types of cucumbers Gilbert planted
Gilbert’s garden was overflowing with goodies throughout the course of the Covid-19 pandemic. But the first vegetables to be ready for picking were the cucumbers.
“I had planted a mix of English and Boston pickling cucumbers, the latter especially for making sour pickles,” she wrote in her 2022 memoir, Back to the Prairie. “They were short and firm, their skin much thinner than their longer, more traditional English cousins. Little House on the Prairie alum Melissa Gilbert and husband thirtysomething actor Timothy Busfield rode out the Covid-19 pandemic in a small cabin in the Catskills (where they still live today). When Busfield got his first acting job following March 2020, the couple faced their first Covid scare. Here’s what happened.
Back to work with Covid safety protocols
Busfield had been cast in For Life before the pandemic. It was one of the first shows to begin production again amid the virus. Gilbert wrote about her husband’s return to work in her 2022 memoir, Back to the Prairie.
“Tim had been on several Zooms regarding safety protocols and received numerous emails updating procedures,” she wrote. “Everybody got tested. Their temperatures were taken. NBCUniversal is diving back into the free TV realm. Months after the company discontinued its free streaming tier of Peacock, Variety reports that NBCU is launching a bundle of free ad-supported streaming TV (Fast) channels in July, spanning multiple genres and with content from most of NBCU’s channels.
The new Fast channels will initially be available on Amazon’s free streaming platform Freevee, as well as Xumo Play, the joint venture that NBCU’s parent company Comcast is building with fellow cable provider Charter Communications. No specific date was provided for the launch of the channels, but they are slated to be available sometime next month.

NBCUniversal is continuing its push into free, ad-supported television (Fast) by rolling out nearly 30 new channels to be distributed at launch on Amazon Freevee and Xumo Play.
Many of the offerings from across the NBCU Television & Streaming portfolio and NBCUniversal Global Distribution library will be available to viewers on demand for the first time at no charge. Viewers with antennas can get linear signals over the air for free, of course, but the always-on nature of the Fast channels makes the initiative unprecedented.
The channels include curated programming from Saturday Night Live, The Real Housewives franchise, Top Chef and Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Also in the mix are Spanish-language entertainment and news selections from Telemundo, including Historias de Amor, Lo Mejor de Telemundo and Telemundo al Día. Library series including Little House on the Prairie, Murder, She Wrote and Saved by the Bell, along with genre-based sitcoms, action, crime,...

NBCUniversal is launching new free ad-supported streaming TV channels, which will include past seasons of Top Chef, Keeping Up With the Kardashians and The Real Housewives.
The media giant has teamed up with Amazon Freevee, as a first partner to distribute the channels, and with Xumo Play, which gives companies the ability to monetize and manage their Fast channels. NBCUniversal’s other Fast content offerings, which will encompass close to 50 new channels, include clips from Saturday Night Live, Spanish-language entertainment and news from Telemundo, and library titles such as Little House on the Prairie, Murder, She Wrote and Saved by the Bell.
“NBCUniversal is in the enviable position of owning a vast array of iconic shows that are not part of our broadcast and cable networks to curate a valuable portfolio of Fast channels,” said Matt Schnaars, president, NBCUniversal Content Distribution. “These channels, with content from some of the most recognizable brands in television,...
