Carrie-Anne Moss, well known for her performances in The Matrix films, is playing a Jedi Master in the new Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte. ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ marks the upcoming installment in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, set to debut on Disney+ on June 4th. It promises to offer a wholly unique adventure.
Taking place during the High Republic Era, also dubbed the Golden Age of the Jedi Order due to their vast numbers, the series aims to challenge the notion that Jedi alone wield the Force for good. Showrunner Leslye Headland appears poised to explore the idea that, given the right circumstances, the Jedi can be portrayed as bad guys.
The show unexpectedly sparked controversy online, largely stemming from its female-led cast and controversial statements made by Headland regarding Star Wars lore. These controversies led to rumors circulating a few weeks ago suggesting that the show had been canceled even before its release.
In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, producer Rayne Roberts hinted that the show might still receive a second season:...

Can you believe it has been over two whole decades since we first encountered the perplexing tale of Leonard (Guy Pearce), the compelling Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss), and the intricate structural puzzle that is Christopher Nolan’s groundbreaking film, Memento?
This masterpiece, a hallmark of neo-noir storytelling, isn’t just memorable for its narrative acrobatics; it marks the auspicious second film debut of Nolan in the major league of filmmakers. Just as Leonard used tattoos to etch pivotal clues onto his skin, Memento indelibly inked itself into our cultural consciousness.

We're now just eight days away from the 2-episode premiere of The Acolyte, and Lucasfilm has shared another clip from the latest live-action Disney+ Star Wars series.
Last week's sneak peek saw Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) engaged in fierce combat with the mysterious warrior he believes to be his former apprentice, Mae (Amandla Stenberg), and here we see the dark-side Force-user try her hand against an equally formidable opponent in Master Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss).
Indara easily evades Mae's initial strikes, but it soon becomes clear that she has been well-trained, and the Jedi's foe manages to land a decent hit towards the end of the fight.
During a recent interview with Empire, The Matrix star spoke about getting the opportunity to join the Star Wars universe and reignite her passion for performing action sequences.

You’d think being part of franchises like “The Matrix” and Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” means Carrie-Ann Moss is naturally suited for action material, but she actually appreciates the metaphysical more than the physical. For her, no matter the job, it’s the process of inhabiting a character that feeds her soul, so when she got the offer to play a Jedi Master in the new “Star Wars” Disney+ television series “The Acolyte,” she knew merging herself with the role would mean reigniting her love of combat.
“Within my soul and my spirit, to get to play this Jedi Master and train for the fight was [an] amazing experience,” Moss said in a recent interview with Empire. “I really awakened, actually, a part of me that forgot how much I love action. I love it. I personally love being challenged. It’s a physical challenge, but it’s a mental challenge too.

The 70s class of filmmakers who re-shaped cinema with their culture-defining works are seemingly getting some recognition recently. The Acolyte: Carrie-Anne Moss Talks Jedi Master Indara, Star Wars Spirituality, And Lightsaber Duels
Imagine if Trinity from The Matrix had Force powers. That, effectively, was the genesis for Jedi Master Indara in The Acolyte – a character who, according to series creator Leslye Headland, is the best of the best, and able to pull gravity-defying tricks out of the bag in the middle of combat. Hence, the obvious choice was to cast Trinity herself, Carrie-Anne Moss. As it turned out, Moss would have much to learn from entering the Star Wars galaxy too.
Empire sat down with Moss to get to know Master Indara – discussing Jedi spirituality, the importance of nailing a lightsaber fight, the thematic connections between Star Wars and The Matrix, and how difficult it is to fight in a Jedi robe.

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ marks the next chapter in the ‘Star Wars’ saga, debuting on Disney+ on June 4th. Promising a fresh and distinct adventure, the series is set during the High Republic Era, known as the Golden Age of the Jedi Order.

Actor Lee Jung-jae will attend the Monte-Carlo Television Festival next month for the French press launch of Lucasfilm’s latest live-action series “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” which streams on Disney+. In the show, Lee plays a Jedi Master.
It was his role in the globally successful Netflix series “Squid Game” that first catapulted Lee’s career to an international level. Starring as Seong Gi-hun (No. 456), a financially struggling father who participates in a deadly survival game, his performance earned him the Emmy Award for best actor in a drama series, a first for a non-English speaking actor.
This tremendous success significantly elevated the career of Lee, who is now considered by many as the international standard-bearer for a highly creative and avant-garde Korean culture.
In “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” an investigation into a series of shocking crimes pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee) against a dangerous warrior from his past.

"Before the Empire, before the Menace, there was The Acolyte."
We're now just two weeks away from the premiere of the latest Disney+ live-action Star Wars series, and Lucasfilm has debuted an exciting first clip from the show along with a new TV spot.
In the extended sneak peek, we find Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) engaged in fierce combat with Mae (Amandla Stenberg), his former apprentice.
Or at least, who he believes to be his former apprentice!
Possible spoilers follow.
Based on what we can gather from recent leaks and the character name subtitle in last week's TV spot, this is not actually Mae at all, but her sister. Rumor has it that Stenberg is playing a dual role as a pair of twins, one good and one evil (the titular Acolyte), with the former blamed for her sibling's sinister actions.
The teaser also features some new footage, including...

Known as the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock left a legacy that the filmmakers still use while writing tense scripts and making horror and thriller movies. His most influential works are Psycho, Vertigo, The Birds and, of course, Rear Window.
70 years ago, the latter mystery thriller, which follows a story of a wheelchair-bound photographer who was spying on his neighbors, became a ground-breaking sensation. Since then, it has inspired a number of movies, and these include the film that is now holding the second place in Netflix’s global chart, even though it was released in 2007.
Its plot revolves around Kale, a 17-year-old sullen boy who ended up under house arrest after assaulting his teacher. There he turns his attention to spying on the neighborhood out of boredom, however, this childish game soon takes quite an unexpected turn.

A lot of footage has been released from The Acolyte recently, but Disney and Lucasfilm may have dropped a major spoiler for the next Star Wars TV series.
Speculation has been running rampant for a while now about Amandla Stenberg potentially playing two characters in the show, and it looks like she will indeed be portraying twins. The theory stems from the fact recent previews have shown Mae sporting different clothing and what seems to be a contrasting personality in those scenes.
As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, the subtitles for The Acolyte's latest TV spot have confirmed Stenberg isn't Mae in those scenes, she's "Osha." Disney moved quickly to remove the spoiler, though the Loth-cat is very much out of the bag at this stage.

With Star Wars: The Acolyte just a couple of weeks away, another new TV spot is doing the rounds on social media which showcases Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh's Lightwhip.
As we first explained on SFFGazette.com, it's been established that Lightwhips are a heavily modified lightsaber variant with multiple plasma blades in flexible containment shields. Due to the blades' flexibility, they require more care to use than a regular lightsaber and have less cutting power.
With a history dating back to the "Sith Wars," Lightwhips were particularly associated with the Nightsisters of Dathomir, though Jedi have been known to use them as well. High Republic Era Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh is among them and was able to modify her lightsaber to have an additional whip mode after learning the design in a Force vision.

Star Wars: The Acolyte continues to intrigue and divide fans in equal measure. Despite that latter point, it looks set to be be a crucial chapter in the story of how the Sith returned to prominence before The Phantom Menace.
The Disney+ series reportedly takes place roughly 100 years before the events of that movie, meaning we're likely to meet Emperor Palpatine's Master, Darth Plagueis.
We've seen more than a few glimpses of a red lightsaber in recent promos for The Acolyte, and in an interview with SFX (via SFFGazette.com), executive producer Simon Emanuel revealed that he enlisted action designer Chris Clark Cowan to work on the show.
Why does that matter? Well, he was one of the key creatives behind Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's unforgettable Darth Vader hallway scene!

The third installment based on Konami’s horror survival game, Silent Hill, is expected to release this year. The preview of Return to Silent Hill screened at the Cannes Film Festival and the new Christophe Gans-directed film will be adapted from the game Silent Hill 2. The preview also gave a first look into the villain of the film, and fans are excited to see that the terrifying monster Pyramid Head closely resembled its video game version.

The first two films, Silent Hill and Silent Hill: Revelation, were critical failures. However, gamers were completely blown away by the gameplay of Silent Hill 2, which raises the expectations of the current film. The game took inspiration from Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment.

All eyes at this year’s Cannes Film Festival will be on the hotly anticipated premiere of Francis Ford Coppola’s self-funded epic Megalopolis. Laurence Fishburne is part of the ensemble cast and is no stranger to debuting a pricey, high-profile project at Cannes.
In 2003, Fishburne hit the Croisette for the Wachowskis’ action sequel The Matrix Reloaded, in which he reprised his role as Morpheus after originating the character in the 1999 sci-fi smash. Also in attendance was Fishburne’s then-wife Gina Torres, who played Cas in the sequels.
After The Matrix introduced viewers to Neo (Keanu Reeves), a computer hacker who discovers that humans have been enslaved in a simulation engineered by AI machines, Reloaded catches up six months later with Neo’s journey alongside Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Morpheus as they battle the Machine Army. Last year, big screen icon Arnold Schwarzenegger made his small screen debut, starring as stogie-smoking CIA operative Luke Brunner in Netflix's action-comedy Fubar. With millions of viewers tuning in to see the streamer's Chief Action Officer in, er, action, a second season was greenlit within weeks. And with production already underway on Brunner's return, we now know who Luke and spook daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) will be facing this time around — and folks, they're going to have their work cut out for them. None other than The Matrix's Trinity herself, Carrie-Anne Moss, has joined the cast of Fubar S2.

Hugo Weaving’s iconic way of speaking has become synonymous with villainous roles, but the actor is no stranger to playing positive characters, with one notable example being Elron Half-elven. Appearing in all three The Lord of the Rings entries, Weaving played the character to perfection and was lauded by fans and critics for bringing the character’s archaic style of speech to life.
But despite garnering critical acclaim for his portrayal of the noble ruler, Weaving had no interest in stepping into Elrond’s shoes ever again, as he isn’t particularly a fan of the character.

Carrie-Anne Moss, best known for her iconic role as Trinity in 'The Matrix' franchise, is set to join Arnold Schwarzenegger and the cast of "FUBAR" for the show's second season on Netflix.
Moss will play Greta Nelso, described as a former East German spy who has a "passionate history" with Schwarzenegger's character, Luke Brunner. In the new season, Luke finds himself facing off against villains from his past, including an old flame (Moss) who threatens to destroy the world.
"We're thrilled to welcome Carrie-Anne Moss to the cast of "FUBAR" for what promises to be an action-packed second season," said creator and showrunner Nick Santora. "Her character Greta Nelso adds an exciting new dynamic as a nuanced adversary with complicated ties to Arnold's Luke Brunner."
In addition to Schwarzenegger and Moss, Season 2 will see the return of Monica Barbaro, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Jay Baruchel, Aparna Brielle, Andy Buckley, Milan Carter, Fabiana Udenio, and Barbara Eve Harris.
The satirical spy series, produced by Skydance Television, follows CIA operative Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) who finds himself thrust back into action after saving his daughter during an intended retirement mission in Season 1.

The Acolyte promises to introduce us to an intriguing new cast of Jedi—and perhaps none more intriguing than Carrie-Anne Moss’s Indara. Described by StarWars.com as “a Jedi Master of great physical and mental skill,” she’s a key player in the ferocious face-off highlighted in the two trailers for the show so far, and she seems positioned as a leading figure for the Jedi during the High Republic era. However, on a show where Jedi are being hunted by a mysterious, dark force, that might not be a good thing. Here’s why we’re anxious about Indara’s fate. Disney+ She Might Be Too Powerful In an interview with Empire, The Acolyte’s showrunner, Leslye Headlund, described Indara as “the most powerful Jedi in the room.” That’ll probably make for some eye-catching fight sequences, but will it also paint a target on Indara’s back?...

The unprecedented era of science fiction and high-octane action that defined the turn of the 20th century with the Wachowski siblingsʼ film franchise The Matrix set in motion a predestined narrative for the leading star Keanu Reeves. What the Wachowskis did for Reevesʼ career in 1999 slowly led to his intro into kung-fu in the John Wick franchise which in turn helped the Wachowskisʼ return in the fourth Matrix sequel, bringing the director and actorʼs Hollywood stories full circle.

As such, the martial arts and gun-fu training that defined every muscle memory of The Matrix lead kicked into high gear when he was called onto the sets of The Matrix Resurrections.

The next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte, is set to premiere on June 5, and Lucasfilm has now released two new teasers, one of which might confirm (or at least hint at) a recent rumor that's been doing the rounds.
Possible spoilers follow.
The first promo once again sees Master Sol vow to track down his wayward apprentice, Mae, who has seemingly fallen to the Dark Side and become the titular acolyte (which she is referred to as for the first time here). We then see Mae confronted at the edge of a snowy cliff, where she professes her innocence: "I didn't do it... believe me!"
If she is being sincere here, it might just confirm a persistent rumor that actress Amandla Stenberg will actually play a dual role as twins, which means Mae could have an evil sister out there taking down Jedi and framing her sibling for the murders.

The Star Wars franchise, especially the original trilogy, has seeped into people’s minds and still stands as one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. The films pushed the boundaries of sci-fi filmmaking and introduced audiences to a galaxy far, far away featuring interesting characters, rich stories, and a complex mythology that continues to this day.

Throughout the years, fans have grown attached to several objects/items from the franchise, and some even try to own several Star Wars-related toys. Some of the props from the films have also been auctioned over the years, and the most expensive one is the X-Wing model that designer Greg Jein made for the first Star Wars film.
