Ellie Miller: [while driving] So, Lisa's phone in Portsmouth. What do you do in Portsmouth apart from being in the navy or looking at ships?
Alec Hardy: Go on, dazzle me.
Ellie Miller: You get a ferry to France. Portsmouth to Cherbourg.
Alec Hardy: So?
Ellie Miller: So, who else was in France?
Alec Hardy: Lee Ashworth.
Ellie Miller: Exactly.
[arriving at the destination]
Ellie Miller: OK, this is the place.
Alec Hardy: What is it they do?
Ellie Miller: Services to the agricultural industries. I couldn't find anything more specific than that.
Alec Hardy: It doesn't seem like a place Lee Ashworth would be connected to.
Ellie Miller: So, what is he not telling us?
[approaching the premises]
Ellie Miller: It looks pretty closed.
Alec Hardy: It must have gone out of business.
[pauses and then moves away]
Alec Hardy: Let's look round the back.
[entering the premises]
Alec Hardy: Are you going to talk to Tom before he gets in the box?
Ellie Miller: I don't want to talk about it.
[makes a few steps inside]
Ellie Miller: What's that smell?
[a few seconds later]
Ellie Miller: It's blood.
[sees a strange container]
Ellie Miller: What is that?
[after looking around more]
Ellie Miller: Oh, look, here you go.
[after opening it]
Ellie Miller: Oh, God. It's a furnace.
Alec Hardy: Agricultural services - they burned dead animals here. You still think Lisa Newbery is alive?
Well, the last two episodes for me, were too slow, nothing really happened in either of them, they lacked substance, finally, it's back on track, this was a very good middle episode.
It was like as if the focus returned to Danny's case, The Sandbrook goings on, though important, somehow took away something, here they felt incidental, with Danny's murder the focus once again.
Best of all, the spat between Jocelyn and Sharon, this series had pretty much perfect casting, Baptiste and Rampling delivered equally exemplary performances, you really did believe there was a past, and a built up loathing between them, it was a quite remarkable scene.
8/10.
