Thursday night, the 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival hosted another black tie, thousands of attendees for dinner and awards show at the all-star Film Awards Gala.
This fancy dinner and awards show begins the Psiff annually and this year was on January 6.
This year’s most buzz-worthy films and stars traveled to the desert to kick off this year’s award season in high style.
TV personality Mary Hart once again served as the evening's host, her 16th year in that position.
Honorees were presented with either the John Kennedy “The Entertainer” statue or a Chihuly Glass Sculpture.
They are really making a move on the Oscars here (the show). This is what I mean. I have seen a lot of the films up front for awards of some sort. Such as my fave BlacKkKlansman, and worthies such as Green Book and The Favourite. Now I realize this is the season for that,...

R.I.P. Gambi. You will always be missed!
The man will sharp style and even sharper knives said his final goodbyes during Black Lightning Season 2 Episode 5 in the flames of glory. (Literally and figuratively speaking.)
His shocking farewell kicked off the hour with a tidal wave of emotions that didn't stop. Though, that's to be expected when we lose a main character and one that means so much to the show. Plus, it's Gambi. (The feels right now!)
My initial thought to Gambi's death was that the entire scene was a red herring.
Gunshots, the car chase, and the ensuing explosion served as the flashy opener that would then reveal Gambi held prisoner by Tobias or the A.S.A. All the elements were there for his miraculous return. And, it's the type of filler plot you'd expect in an action series.
Everything was chalked up to being filler until the...

“Green Book” director Peter Farrelly forgives Viggo Mortensen for using the N-word.
“Viggo is a great, good-hearted guy who was trying to make a nice point and it came out horribly wrong and he apologized immediately and knew what he had done,” Farrelly told Variety on Friday at the movie’s AFI Fest presented by Audi gala screening in Hollywood. “He just not that guy. He’s a beautiful human being.”
Mortensen came under fire on social media for using the N-word during a panel proceeding a Film Independent screening of “Green Book” on Wednesday when audience members began tweeting about the incident, which occurred at the ArcLight Hollywood.
In an attempt to prove that hate speech can change over time, Mortensen used the N-word as an example of language that’s no longer accepted, sources told Variety.
Mortensen released an apology late Thursday night, which co-star Mahershala Ali later accepted.

Universal has given road-trip drama “Green Book,” starring Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali, an awards-season release of Nov. 21.
Production companies are Participant Media and DreamWorks Pictures. Peter Farrelly directs the movie, based on a true friendship that transcended race, class and the 1962 Mason-Dixon line.
Mortensen portrays an Italian-American bouncer with a seventh-grade education who is hired to drive a world-class pianist, played by Ali, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South. They must rely on the “Negro Motorist Green Book” to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for blacks. Confronted with racism, danger — as well as unexpected humanity and humor — they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive.
Producers are Jim Burke, Charles B. Wessler and Farrelly along with Farrelly’s fellow writers, Nick Vallelonga and Brian Currie. The drama is executive produced by Participant’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King,...
