I.S.S. (2023)

The camera work / editing is terrible

The camera work and editing are terrible, so much that it's actually uncomfortable to watch.

Each shot insists on unnecessary tilting and chaotic movement, exaggerating the lack of gravity in space to a fault.

Moreover, the editing is excessively busy, capturing every minuscule emotion in dialogues through rapid cuts, bouncing back and forth dozens of times in simple conversational scenes.

This pacing detracts significantly, making it difficult to engage with the story.

The relentless intensity of every scene, mimicking the tempo of action sequences through mere editing, makes it feel like you're in the middle of an action scene even though your not. All I kept thinking was... slow down, calm down.

1899 (2022)

Too many languages

Honestly i really tried to get into the story but we're basically being showered by different languages and it's drove me crazy. I know there are subs but the fact that english is one of these languages is causing my head to try and recognize speech all the time. I'm basically more focused on that then following the actual story. I just can't take it after a few episodes in. I don't mind it being in a different language as a whole ore occasionally switching but following different people from scene to scene that specifically speak english, french, danish, german, spanish and really triggers me.

Five Days at Memorial (2022)

Gave it a 6 but it honestly feels like a 5.

Honestly reading the description had me all ears. Everyone knows about the disaster that was Catherina, so seeing this from a different point of view should be very interesting...

From the get go this show completely lost me and just could not keep my attention.

The acting is mediocre, sometimes plain bad, the cgi is meh and the editing switching between CGI to real footage just made it feel very low budget.

I was hoping that the show would manage to turn everything around but it just stayed the same...

Bummer...

Resident Evil (2022)

Music selection is absolutely dreadful

Aside of the things most people already said (bad story, acting etc) i just had to add the music selection.

Who in their right minds did this?

It's so absolutely terrible and extremely disjointed of what we're seeing on screen.

Music and ambience is one of the key things for setting a mood. If it's off, it can ruin a scene, if it's on point, it can enhance it.

It's like a teen... no wait excuse me, i mean, it's like an adult trying to think as a teenager and add 'cool' music on top of 'cool' scenes and utterly fails...

The Adam Project (2022)

How are people taking this movie so serious and rating it on science?!

The movie was good, light, humorous!

Honestly feels weird to see people giving the movie low scores based on science or a not deep enough story...

It's an adventure family movie, c'mon guys...

Yes the story isn't that deep but does it really have to be an 'interstellar' movie?

What it lacks in deep story it more then makes up for it due to the typical humoristic Ryan Reynalds acting/dialogue and the kid that actually did a real terrific job playing younger Ryan!

Music score main theme is also on point.

Solid 8/10.

The Silent Sea (2021)

It never really grabs your attention

The visuals are ok but that's about it.

I find myself watching it because i've got nothing else to watch atm but there's not a single moment this series managed to grab my attention (even though i'm a sci-fi thriller/horror) type of guy.

The story just isn't engaging enough and never really picks up speed.

Also the fact that a lot of Squid Game actors are in this made it a bit hard to flip the switch to being all serious.

6/10 purely for the visuals and cinematography but all the rest is really 'bland'...

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)

Was it as good as the original? Nop.

Did i mind? Nop!

I smiled at all the references as they launched me back on a trip to memory lane.

This is SOOOOO much better then that horrible ghostbusters movie we had a few years ago.

Thank you...

Was about to give it a seven but the little cameo at the end made me smile once again, so decided to up it to 8 :)

American Gods (2017–2021)

God, what is it with these cancellations when things are actually moving in the right direction?!

Let me start off by saying that the first season was rough, VERY rough and confusing.

At the start i always looked at this series because i got bored and had nothing else to watch.

The story didn't really engage much

The first season had me on a one by one episode spread over a few weeks basis. Everything was still pretty vague and it didn't quite manage to get my full attention.

They also didn't really end with the most spectacular or curious cliffhangers so it wasn't really binch wearthy.

Season 2 was a step in the right direction, things started to pick up a bit and it was all becoming a bit less vague and the story actually started to come togheter.

However, things really started picking up in season 3.

I didn't really realise i cared about a lot of the characters untill i saw this season. They each got their story archs and it all kind of came together A LOT better then previous seasons.

Not only was the story being handled better, the music score throughout the season, pivotal moments caught my attention during this season.

This season ended with an abrupt cliffhanger with plots left unexplained.

I was extremely disappointed to hear that they canceled the show when things finally got to me as a viewer.

I really hope we get some 'closing', be it in a book, movie or whatever because honestly how it ended.

We owe it to Shadow...

Foundation (2021– )

Started VERY rough but evolved into something worth it.

Let me start by saying that I haven't read the books so I'm looking at this completely neutral and based on what i saw.

I had high hopes before the series started due to the fact that I absolutely love sci fi series. The trailers we saw looked very good.

However..

When i saw the first three episodes it all felt extremely rushed, chaotic as in people weren't even allowed to pause in a dialogue. Too much, too fast and almost lost me because i felt totally disassociated from the main characters. Some even had relationships that just quite frankly did not look believable because it was just too fast.

After those initial episodes the pacing dropped to a more doable one (thank god)

Eventually we started seeing more decent character developments all over. Especially the Empire clones which looked very bland at the beginning.

I ended the series caring for the main characters and genuine feeling urging for more content. I honestly did not expect to have those feelings when i saw those first three episodes yet here it is.

Can't wait for a 2e season.

Halloween Kills (2021)

See (2019–2022)

Used to be a 7, degraded to a 6 after completing season 2. The queen character is really starting to bring this whole show down.

Honestly, take her out of the show, i have patience but to see her another season made me honestly dislike the thought of even bothering to continue watching this...

At the end of season 2 something happened, something I honestly would've cared about in normal circumstances but I couldn't help but roll my eyes when i saw it.

Take her out of the show. The character is badly written, extremely annoying and aggravating. She's pushing people away from the series. It's a real shame because all the other chars are quite good tbh.

Fear Street: Part One - 1994 (2021)

A horror movie for teens

It's not bad but it feels like something teenagers would appreciate.

Pacing / editing is a bit too fast. Acting is... sus but kot overly bad , especially the blond guy that just has one facial expression: smiling.

It doesn't feel scary at all and the love interests feel very akward.

I know i sound pretty negative but for some reason i still think It's balancing between a 5 and a 6.. because like i said. I think this is more for younger people then older ones...

The Tomorrow War (2021)

Great action / not that great of a story

This is a weird one.

When an attempt is made to have a more emotional dialogue and such, the movie falls completely flat.

This might partially be because of Chris Pratt's performance.

He's a great actor when things aren't too serious but whenever he needs to be serious, it feels / looks like he's unsure about it, like there's a joke waiting to reveal itself.

This movie shines when the action hits though....

The CGI on the creatures look pretty good, sound design too.

The pacing shifts into gear and honestly has me at the edge of my seat.

So yeah, i can recommend the movie, but there will be some dull moments.

I'm not the 'i need non stop action' type of guy, but like mentioned before, the acting performance and story during the more serious scenes are 'meh' so keep that in mind.

The Midnight Sky (2020)

I waited a long time to see the lodge because i saw lots of great reviews about it. But this movie was going nowhere.

It's starts at a pace and stays like that the whole movie long.

It's movies like these in combination of those weird 10/10 reviews that actually manage to anger me for something i normally don't even bother getting angry about.

But because of these reviews i decided to wait, waaait and wait even more till I reach boiling point... sighhhh

Saw season one and her role ruined every episode she was in.

Now i'm in the middle part of season 2 and she's still the worst character in this series. Bad acting, bad writing, just plain terrible

I honestly wanted to leave, this movie litterly goes nowhere! Every scene has you thinking "where are they going with this" Eventually i stopped caring and started to get angry as everything got dragged out.

The acting is top notch, the story is almost non existant...

What is it with these horrible space series/movies.

Just for once can somebody please make a good series or movie that isn't filled with ridiculous stupid characters.

Normally i just skip something if it doesn't interest me but this actually made me mad.

Its just stupid, unrealistic human behavior that destroys the whole series for me in one episode.

That stupid argument between (ex)captain and Starbucks was so stupid and waaaay overkill for no reason. The crew also just blindly follow that guy after he screwed up. Like cmon man, is this how everyone in real life would behave.

Also sound design is horrible , cgi is horrible, and for gods sake Starbuck, for once play in a series with a decent script. Everything she did after Battlestar galactica sucked. She's not a bad actress but she just takes on anything that comes her path, it's just sad

Cancel this mess and fire the script writers
