Atlas (2024)
'Straight to video' if it could be ....
Don't get me wrong I love a great sci-fi film however this lets us down and so many levels from its unoriginal plot to some not so great CGI.
It's something when one of the most likeable characters is actually just a voice. The unoriginally named Smith - (Played by Gregory James Cohen)
Some of the actions sequences were pretty good, but in general this film fails to deliver.
Jennifer Lopez does her best to hold the film up but it's not enough, maybe 100m dollars is the benchmark investment for failure these days or possibly too many producers spoil the film (9 in total) regardless of which I recommend you save two hours of your life to do something else more productive.
Plot: Setting the not too distant future AI goes rogue and tries to destroy the human race. (Done 100x before)
Argylle (2024)
The Comedic Spy Film has forgotten how to be a Comedic spy film
Just like the main character this films storyline this film has forgotten what/who it was meant to be. Even with a superb cast this failed to hit the mark, with over convoluted flashbacks and scenes with two characters (the real and fictional Argyll) and the up and down pace of the movie it never really got going. Slow start with some suspect CGI and quite unbelievable action scenes it was a film that I wanted to fall in love with (potential trilogy with AppleTV) but couldnt; The movie meandered its way through the storyline that we have seen in different guises in the excellent 'Kingsman' series. This however is a 'Temu' or 'Wish' Kingsman. A generous 5/10.
The Heist Before Christmas (2023)
Beyond disappointing
This is advertised and portrayed as a family comedy with a few decent stars in nesbitt and spall. In reality it's a low budget children's tv movie with a terrible plot-line.
Looks like it was made with no budget, shocking acting and I mean shocking and where they were used rubbish special effects, no real message (shoplifting is cool) and the closing Santa scene had no conclusion I mean he stayed in hospital? Did the money run out? - Honestly terrible had waited all Christmas Day to watch and was glad there were adverts so I'd have something else to watch, one of the kids fell asleep it was so boring.
