Fair Play (2023)
WTF
What started off as an intriguing movie, with good actors and a decent start at character development with interesting dialog, ran its course about halfway through the movie. Into the second half of the movie, it seems the writers quit and a faulty AI program was employed to finish the script. As each scene went by, the movie became more unhinged (not in a good way) and utterly stupid. The main characters behaved as if they were on psychedelics in solo performance while the other actors were the simply watching the scenes from the audience. It's sad to see good talent wasted on such an unartful, unbelievable and unbearable movie.
Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022)
Quite enjoyable
"Good Luck to You, Leo Grande," was thoroughly enjoyable. Both Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack were excellent. The story was touching, poignant and relevant. Throughly enjoyable.
Surface (2022)
Incoherent story and character development
Storyline makes no sense, unless this is supposed to be a horror film where you suspend your disbelief. Every character's core aspects are so inconsistent, it makes it hard to watch without laughing. The production quality and actors are excellent and seem to be doing the best they can, which makes it watchable if you don't have anything else to watch.
As I Am (2020)
Touching movie
Really enjoyed As I Am. The characters were lovable and entertaining, the writing imperfect and filming almost like a home movie. Could the movie have benefited from some additional production value? Yes. But there was realness in the final product, as is.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Surprisingly bad and unoriginal
A very limited, unoriginal script that borrows from Alien, WWZ and many other SciFi/Horror movies. It seems like there could've been a decent movie, but writers were simply too lazy to simply copy other people's work. Pratt's "acting" is wooden and unheroic. Not worth two hours of time to watch. It's a downhill ride from the first scene.
Phobias (2021)
Uh, what just happened to 75 minutes of my life?
A shockingly bad waste of an hour and a quarter. This movie is literally about nothing. There is no plot, almost no acting, very limited lighting (bad movies are better when you can't see them, so I guess this is a plus). Seriously, I wrote more coherent stories in pre-K with crayons.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Unbelievably Stupid Show
Somehow a monster can fake his death so effectively that no one knows but he can't off a couple of petty grifters. Some many stupid plot twists it was impossible to keep track.
Made in Italy (2020)
Beautiful scenery and decent acting
This isn't the most deep movie, but the acting is fine, scenery incredible, plot decent enough to entertain. What more do want during a pandemic?
Work It (2020)
Entertaining, light-hearted teen dramedy
Though not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination, this movie was a feel-good teen dramedy that involves lots of dancing, some funny plot lines and overall well-acted scenes. Production quality is also very decent.
She Dies Tomorrow (2020)
Wow!
Absolutely terrifying waste of time. Seems like a bunch of super bored people got together, took a ton of drugs and came up with what can very loosely be described as an idea for a plot of a 5 minute webcast and because they were so stoned and high, somehow turned it into a movie. I want me 90 minutes back!
Wish Upon (2017)
Entertaining Horror Movie
Wish Upon moved along at a decent clip, had some good revenge horror and basically kept my attention through to the end, which isn't bad considering most horror movies don't make it past 5 minutes of watching before I turn them off. Definitely some poor editing, but acting was entertaining and production quality was high.
