Pompeii (2014)
I'm not sure what movie y'all watched, but...
...this movie was great!! There was lots of action...not too much sappiness...I was even rooting for the bad guys at one point!! There was one cheesy moment that was clearly a Gladiator knockoff but as a whole it was a great movie! Totally worth the watch...and the volcano eruption was pretty darn majestic, albeit sad af, since this is based on real events! The only thing that didn't make sense to me was how people were more worried about fighting and settling old scores than getting tf out of dodge!! I wldve been worried about running away not defending my honor! Other than that I give this movie an 8 out of 10!!
Dýrið (2021)
Surprising story of the intense desire to be a parent/protect your child
This movie isn't what I was expecting at all... I was expecting something completely different... it's very very V E R Y slow but it's filmed beautifully... when I first saw the baby sheep/lamb had legs and one arm like a human child I was shook... then it was crazy to me that she thought it was a good idea to just murder Ada's real mother!! The whole dynamic with the brother made me uneasy but in the end proved to be uneventful... I also realized after the movie ended that all those weird times where Ada or the dog were seeming to stare at something, and then Ada would run, that was her actual dad in the distance, who was likely waiting on the perfect opportunity to "rescue" his daughter. I was so very shook at the end because I wouldn't have guessed that to be the ending in a million years!!! I wish it was the wife who got murdered though since she's the one who killed Ada's birth mom... Also there are only English subtitles so you have to read the captions to know what's going on... thankfully there's very little dialogue. Anyway excellent movie I would have preferred a happier ending, but it is a horror movie I suppose!! So I guess in the end the main character got what she deserved! She kidnapped someone's child, the birth mother tried to get her child back, and was murdered in cold blood and buried in the backyard like a piece of garbage, and the child's father got revenge by killing the kidnapper's husband, and then rescued his child to live happily ever after amongst their own kind :-/
House of Sand and Fog (2003)
Perhaps this movie worked better 20 years ago...but NOT now #cringe
This movie was so annoying from the very beginning... the lead actress doesn't pay her bills or read her mail and acts shocked when she gets evicted... then she goes on a cigarette and alcohol fueled revenge mission... drags down an officer with a wife and two kids & then shows up at the house she just lost because she didn't care enough about the house to even check her mail, and tries to off herself with her cheating boyfriend's service weapon?!?!? Then they actually let her crazy ass in their home and she tries to pop enough pills to die and in the end the officer pops in making all these ridiculous demands against the husband and eventually gets the young man/son killed.... But the most absurd thing was suicide at the ending...and then when asked if it's her home, she says "No"...Like really? That entire family had to die for her to admit it wasn't her home any more?!? That's the most privileged thing I have ever seen in my life!! It's getting 3 stars simply for Kingsley's acting! DO NOT WATCH!
Marriage Story (2019)
Adam Driver was the best thing about this movie!!
I will say that this movie started out annoying because as usual the female characters are just clearly meant to get under your skin (and yes I am female...lol). I mean imo she was just unnecessarily being so nasty to him and that's before she found out she had a real reason... I truly believe that a lot of times people are fine with things and happy with them and then when their desires change or re-emerge, they want to blame their partner for their unhappiness... I mean he literally supported her moving to LA temporarily for her tv project and that's when she decides it's time to divorce?!? Give me a break... but anyway, the best part about this movie was Adam... he was soooo good, and my favorite part of the entire movie was when he sang Being Alive... they really could have ended the movie there... didn't need that last sad Halloween scene!! So annoyed that when it was convenient for her now she wants him to take Henry on her night...That scene made me roll my eyes... but anyway, great movie for real! 8/10 mainly because the first 75 mins annoyed me because of Scarlett's crazy behavior!
Trespass Against Us (2016)
TRASH...don't waste one second of your time.. don't even read this review... yes it's that bad
This movie is TRASH... like dumpster trash... it's basically about a crime family living in squalor in a trashed trailer park community... it has no point and an excessive and unnecessary use of the word "scrilla"... I cannot believe people actually got paid to perform in this BS...the movie went nowhere... started from the bottom and stayed there...it was so bad I don't have anything else to say and at this point, I am just rambling on so I can reach the character count... Fassbender and his joke of a criminal mastermind father had me rolling my eyes the entire time... the wife and son were so annoying and not likable...this movie SUCKED BIG TIME.
Annihilation (2018)
I'm willing to suspend disbelief but this just took it too far
I am unclear what movie anyone who rated this more than a four was watching because annihilation was annoying... first of all let's skip to the end...you mean to tell me that all it took to save the world was a hand grenade?! Everyone else succumbed to nature but Lena was somehow a super human because she "had" to come back? Most of this movie was unnecessary...why did we have to know that Lena cheated on her husband? Then once she gets her rocks off is instantly holier than though?! Smh... Honestly that's the most believable thing in this entire movie because the rest is foolery... HEY! Let's get the tiniest women in America, who have likely never seen a weight, let alone lifted one, to trek through rough terrain, carrying backpacks that weigh more than they do... they will be the ones to save us!! Giant alligators and deranged bears...people plants... I cannot... I had high hopes based on the reviews but in the end it was just fancy doodles and splashes of color... no substance, no reason, no likable characters... The guy in the hazmat suit that was way too small asking stupid questions... and she's qualified to go on this mission simply because her husband's clone came home to die?! Whew...so much wrong with this movie... and why do they keep putting Tessa in movies?! She cannot act...all in all I gave this a four because of the audacity to play in my face!
The Son (2022)
Bored to tears...
A sniveling, annoying, spoiled brat, whining and crying over his parents' divorce... when Wolverine told him "I'm allowed to reinvent my life..." I felt that... Hannibal Lecter plays the father of the father of the son and he was also right when he told Wolverine to GROW UP and GET OVER IT! I'm sorry but this movie was so damn boring, it felt like it had been on for two hours and there was still 45mins left... typical ex wife who can't stay away and talked smack about her ex husband for leaving her and now has poisoned the son against his dad... everything about this movie annoyed me and I've still got 38mins to go... *YAWN* don't bother ... also why are women who stay home and don't work always complaining about the man working?! Bish you don't even have a job...somebody's gotta pay the bills!! Stfu and enjoy living freely in my house... take care of the kids or get a job! Smh... anyway...none of the "actresses" were believable... father, son, ex wife, baby momma... all of them *thumbs down*
Resurrection (2022)
Decent enough thriller but if you believe the ending you're as crazy as Maggie
Decent enough thriller but if you believe the ending you're as crazy as Maggie...
SPOILERS BELOW
So I watched this movie and I will say I liked it half way through... with abt 40mins left I got very bored and just wanted her to stop being all weak and weepy... women depicted as crying, sniveling, basket cases are annoying... anyway, I love how the daughter left her crazy mother to allow her to work out her demons because whew that lady was having the episode of all episodes... I believe that Maggie actually had a baby named Benjamin with a psycho named David who groomed her and ate her baby... I'll give her that... but by the end of the movie I realized that a) This isn't Maggie's first "episode"... (remember Abbie called the coworker with benefits to the house to recommend her mom see someone and also told her mom she was having an episode and that she was being more controlling than usual)... b) there is no way she gutted David like a fish and pulled a baby out and he didn't even scream... gtfoh y'all... that was a crazy psychotic fantasy... her finally getting "revenge" on the man who ate her baby...it was her brain trying to cope with what she never really dealt with, which was resurrected when Abbie got hurt and it sunk in that she (Maggie) wouldn't always be there to keep her safe... I don't think she ever saw David again... I think she saw a man that resembled him and then had a panic attack, ran out of the condemns all the way home and from that moment on was just being the crazy lady talking to herself in the park and dragging her daughter out the mall... from the moment she left that conference it was just one big psychotic train wreck and we watched from her perspective... c) the very last scene proved my point... the colors in last act of the movie were very dark...everything was shadowy and muted (like the recesses of her crazy mind...lol) but then all of a sudden the final few moments were not only super bright but damn near angelic...with blurred edges...lighting that was very different from the rest of the film... and at the last second Maggie "woke up" from her dream & then the movie ended... why do I say she "woke up"... well remember after Maggie beat the brakes off her coworker with benefits, she went into the house and passed out from stress, shock at Abbie running away and the BF saying he was in love with her and of course fatigue from chasing a shadow every night...I think everything that came after she passed out, was made up in her mind... a fever dream or night terror if you will... IT WASNT REAL... at the end, why would her daughter have come back home to pack? We all know she had already left her mom... when Abbie is holding the "baby" and says "everything will be alright" that snapped Maggie back to reality because Abbie had said that to Maggie earlier in the movie when they talked about Abbie going to college. Anywho, I give this movie five stars because it was decent to a point... I would have given more but I HATED the ending so bad... Now had it ended with Maggie waking up on the floor realizing she had actually passed out and then going to Abbie's room and realizing and remembering that Abbie left because Maggie she was having another "episode" and wouldn't face it... and then walking to the kitchen counter and picking up that business card the BF left so she could get some real help, then I wldve given the movie 8 stars... but instead we got the crackpot ending!! This movie dragged on waaaaaaaay too long for the ending the audience actually received so yea... but it's def worth the watch!
The Strays (2023)
The ending had me shook!
I am not going to lie...in the middle of this movie I got so bored that I wished I was watching on my phone so I could speed watch the last 45mins... this is horror in the sense that it tugged at your soul the entire time trying to figure out what was going to be the twist... I NEVER guessed what the twist was and usually I'm very good at that... I honestly thought that this was going to be one of those movies where things were actually figments of her imagination and used as a way to show just how much she hated being black but when the whole cigarette convo happened I knew that wasn't going to be it... I was really annoyed at the ending but only the part involving the husband because he did absolutely nothing wrong.... But the last two minutes I was SHOOK! I was like damn what an excellent way to end the movie... definitely wasn't what I expected! Also this movie was shot incredibly well and I truly enjoyed some of the stills... crazy movie... kinda slow... you'll get bored but it's worth the watch!!!
Moonfall (2022)
It's like a bag of skittles! Taste the Sci Fi rainbow!
If you don't like this movie there's something wrong with your fun loving side... lol.. this movie was not meant to be believable folks, but all that aside it's a really really good movie! I read the reviews and only watched honestly to laugh at how ridiculous it was going to be based off the comments, however what I got instead was a sci fi movie that had it ALL. This movie is Deep Impact, meets Armageddon, meets Apollo 13, meets Arrival and it is GREAT! I wasn't even prepared for the moon technology storyline at all and k must say it's a pretty cool thought! The genres were plenty as well! There was drama, comedy, and a bit of thriller and of course Sci Fi... it was definitely cheesy as hell and yes there is the whole savior moment that all these movies require but it was actually executed very well, with an ending you can feel good about! I'd def watch this again with friends and fam that haven't seen it... totally worth the watch! Ignore the negative reviews....
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
TOTALLY boring until the last 35mins
This movie was two hours for no reason at all... like truly I wanted to LOVE this movie but unfortunately by the time the plot twist was revealed I was so annoyed with Alice that I didn't even care... the whiny, bratty, "Karen" style of Alice made me despise her ... and the movie was so boring up until the plot twist because there was just nothing to any of the characters that made them interesting... and of course in the end she kills her husband (which he arguably deserved) and all of a sudden all the women seem to understand what's going on?? Wilde could've done more with this storyline... I cannot stress to y'all how boring and cliche this movie was up until the last 35mins... I've said it already but it deems repeating... the only thing to this movie that allowed me to give it three stars was the cinematography, the weirdness here and there...the dancers...the costumes...the perfectly timed eery music... but everything else was a snooze fest... and honestly can the "bad guy" win in the end sometimes? Alice making it out in the end is such an expected outcome... wldve been nice to see them shock us all with a more believable ending which would be the husband resetting the game after she "killed" him and her never getting out... that wldve shocked everyone...and been a lot more believable... bc the ending totally ruined the plot twist... also who knew Jack cld get so ugly I mean he looked atrocious in the "real world"... also the janitor at the hospital wearing the same color as the "fixers" in the VR world was a gem that kind of made me want to go back to see what others hidden gems there may have been, however the movie was so daggone boring there no way I could ever rewatch! So yea if you want to have a movie playing while you clean up, this is the movie... watch the first 15mins to get a general idea of the premise and then get to cleaning...only stop again to actually watch, at the 1hr 27min mark because you won't have missed anything worth watching... and I'll also say the weepy, whiny, fretful woman is so annoying... can we stop with that narrative? It's like women are always portrayed as not being able to hold it together mentally and figure things out without completely going bat ish crazy first ... I also think I'm a bit biased because I absolutely do not like Pugh's voice...never have! I know it's petty but her voice is so annoying and in the roles that she plays it always seems like her voice is out of place for the character she's portraying... I felt the same way in this movie... also her killing him in the end was overplayed... it would've made a lot more sense if he was doing something other than just hugging her tightly... like trying to tie her up or something... but anyway I'm off my soap box...also why were the lamp posts exploding? RanDUMB.
1899 (2022)
What in the time period piece but not really is this?!
Sooo if you want to see endless slanted running, unnecessary "hookups" and partner sharing, cultural stereotype, countless hours of dainty women looking forlorn, the countless furrowed brow and look of hopelessness or confusion, a creepy looking kid dressed like Tom Sawyer, hidden doorways and holes into the floor, weird gaming controls and lots and lots of cables and wiring, and "memories" of a past long wished to be forgotten and some voice telling sweaty characters to WAKE UP, then THIS is the show for you... by the 6th episode I had to make myself finish this series and the ending? I was severely disappointed...like THIS is the climax that I spent eight hours of my life trying to reach! This series took all of the worst parts of The Matrix, added unnecessary drama and had a plot with no twist or resolve... Watch it on your ipad at max speed ... this cldve been a two hour movie tops... WAKE UP.
Spiderhead (2022)
SAME OLD TIRED STORYLINE
I am so sick of storylines like this... some mad scientist or teacher or leader or whatever with his/her sniveling assistant that's always moody and brooding in the background and always on the verge of turning against his/her sacred leader....in the end to "grow a conscious" and turn against the leader... like seriously... then everyone gets away in the end to ride off into the sunset abs either the leader is killed off or arrested or forever ruined *yawn* the "bad guy" never gets away with it... this movie would have been way better if this experiment worked and made it into the hands of the government or something... anything other than this same old storyline. Also the names of the drugs are hilarious like laffodil and phobica?? DarkenFlaxx is the worst ... anyway don't watch this movie if you're looking for something different, it'll irritate you because it isn't really what you think it is...
Gold (2022)
Not sure why this movie got bad reviews
This movie was GREAT! Zac did awesome and although I figured out part of it the ending had me shook, yet satisfied! MUST WATCH! IGNORE THE RATING OF 5 and just watch it for yourself... only thing missing was fleshing out more of the main characters backstory... and more of how "we" ended up in a lost apocalyptic world...

They/Them (2022)
IGNORE THE LOW RATINGS THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!!
I don't know what movie y'all watched but this movie was so awesome and brought out a lot of emotions for me and I'm not even a queer! The main characters acted very well and Kevin bacon was Kevin bacon (I love him)... if you thought this movie was bad there's something wrong with you!! It was cheesy as hell at the end but hey no movie is perfect! Lol... I also was surprised at who the "slasher" was in the end... all in all a very solid movie and worth watching with all ages... it shows how it feels to be on the side receiving all the hate and backlash and also teaches compassion and self move and acceptance! Bravo to Kevin!!
Looking Glass (2018)
This has to be a joke
There is no way this movie was for real... it was BAD... and not the Nick Cage kind of bad we all have come to know and love, but like AWFUL... and why they cast this lady as his wife is beyond me... she is the worst actress on the planet ... the plot was trash ... the storyline was trash ... and the actors were all trash! Lol what a joke!
Finch (2021)
TEAR JERKER
I cried all up and down this movie! It was sweet, funny, endearing, sad, just all of the emotions were felt! Excellent performance by Hanks and that robot was so believable!!!!! The hug towards the end of the movie made me have to pause and just cry lmao.... So good!
Safer at Home (2021)
Where were the tears? Hysteria?
People people people...for a movie to be even halfway decent, doesn't it atleast have to be real and believable? This movie should have been an absolute tear jerker... but nobody was crying?! You see your best friend, since forever, seemingly scared to her death, quite literally, by her douchebag husband and nobody can turn on the waterworks?! Lmao... what's super annoying abt this movie is that because of the screen shot they chose to use for the cover of this movie, everyone watching knows when it starts that she is going to wake up in the end... smh epic fail for whoever chose the cover art 🙄 also, this is a drama, not horror! Don't bother watching!
