A very good film for those knowledgeable in Russian history
19 August 2021
Loosely based on a satirical classic novel by the Russian author equal in importance to that of Jonathan Swift.

To the reviewer redmond69: I have the movie. Contact me at gmail (my nick is televizor1)

A superb rendering of the protagonist
29 July 2017
The original novel has been a breakthrough for the time and, in many of its aspects, remains relevant nowadays.

I am a Russian speaker, but hopefully anyone can appreciate the superb rendering of the ambivalent protagonist. Another powerful performance by Oleg Yankovsky - a reason already good enough to recommend the film.
