More terrible writing/storyline
10 July 2023
Just more barf. The antagonist is annoying and not particularly believable. No real understanding as to why, after all these years, everyone seems to think fighting each other is somehow preferable to working together to build a future. It's not realistic in that sense. If your group consists of about 12 bad guys, let alone 100, every single person is valuable, so why would you risk fighting with other folks. It's just nonsensical. A disaster such as this would be more likely to bring the few remaining survivors together. Already see signs of the original series 'drag everything out" syndrome starting to creep in. Won't probably continue with this series or any other twd series. Amc just can't let it die.

Familiar, but just not very good
31 May 2023
I don't know why Disney continues to try to do live action remakes. They just don't work. This movie is no exception. Perhaps a second story, showing a new mermaids adventures would have been more appropriate than trying to remake the old. The CGI animals were weird, which is surprising because you'd want merchandise to sell. No one will want merch from this version. The rap song was odd, it just didn't fit the movie. Plenty of people looked really bored in the theater. It's one of those movies that just keeps going and going and going. If this is any indication of Disney's future, it's in trouble. Let's hope for new stories, not old.

Meh, rich people doing rich people stuff.

Nothing really groundbreaking, simply reiterating what has been known by physicians and scientists for decades. The difference is it's presented by an A-list star and good cinematography. Having a successful, wealthy, well known actor hosting isn't necessarily bad, but it's hard to relate to someone who has the luxury of focusing solely on their health rather than spending that time working to survive. Also, I'm not sure a social psychologist from a business school is very credible, and that is the first "expert" in the series . I guess they couldn't be bothered to talk with real experts. A simple read of the literature regarding common characteristics and lifestyles of centenarians would be far more valuable for most people than viewing this show.

Meh. Shows why most LEOs can't be trusted

If you enjoy seeing police use dogs to circumvent the rights of citizens, then watch this. Most times the K9 alerts to a vehicle, they find nothing illegal. Far worse is the use of dogs to subdue suspects, especially one that was uncontrollable. Some officers are just absolutely disrespectful to people, mainly in one southern county. You can tell they enjoy the power trip. Thankfully the Patterson NJ officers treat everyone with respect acting like officers should. Most nights are boring traffic stops with " I smell pot" so search or dog search. Nothing entertaining or to be learned from this show. Trash tv at its finest.

Started off well, but then
1 July 2022
Can't understand the high reviews. The show started off well, but just grinds to a halt in episode 2. Became more of a chore to watch. It's okay, but certainly not worth the 9 and 10s it's getting. Nothing really new or thought provoking is presented. Lost opportunity. Oh well.

Modest improvement.

Glad they are returning to the original formula. Much closer to the Roddenberry vision. It's about the people, they just happen to live/ work in space. With luck, more character development will follow organically. However, the set is too flashy as if it's purpose is to distract your from the amateur writing. The dialogue is not very meaningful. Giving 15 seconds to the creation of the most critical rule in starfleet, (the prime directive) was ridiculous. There was literally no discussion of the problems, options to deal with it, or explanations for the viewer to understand. Two to three uninteligible sentences about how the aliens got the tech and under what circumstances. I can deal with woke issues if they are both convincingly and subtly presented. Plenty of tng or voyager episodes dealt with "woke", ethical, or moral issues without bludgeoning you over the head with recent divisive images. It was cleverly woven into the narrative. Not here. I do not approve of the vulcan portrayal. Query, whose decision was that? In any case, kurtzman ruined all recent trek, same as jj Abrams. Perhaps strange new worlds will undo a small amount of the damage and allow the show to end with at least a shred of dignity.

More marvel dreck.
18 December 2021
I had no expectations going in to the film, and was not surprised coming out. Just more predictable superhero trash, with flashy effects and booms. I guess that's why so many like it, doesn't require any thought. I'm sure six more films will be made as long as people throw money at it.

More pseudoscience garbage.
8 April 2020
The show isn't actually investigating anything. They just wave crappy electronic equipment around with no understanding for the viewer of how it works and what it should show. No controls, so not scientific. Then we have the mysterious "wealthy" owner of the ranch with security guards, jets etc, mysterious cast illnesses. Yawn. History channel has fallen further than TLC these days.

Not as Bad As I expected.
22 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Having read the books, and not being happy with the casting etc of this movie long ago, I must say, it wasn't that bad afger finally seeing it. About the only thing I didn't like about the whole movie was that it was inconsistent that Roland could kill the man in black. It is not consistent with the novels or MM character. I would have expected the man in black, RF, walter, whatever you will, to lose for sure, but to accept he lost and move on in defeat to the next game so to speak. To have Roland kill him was just not right nor in keeping with the character. For this reason, it gets a 6. Other than that, I thought it was fine, short and to the point.

Started out Great, suffered from writer incompetence
5 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This show started out wonderful. I really wanted to watch the following episodes. But around episode 5, it seems the writers really messed up. The story lines of Delores, Teddy, The Man in Black, and the corporate executive employees was great. There were plenty of questions, conjecture and enough to stimulate a viewer into questioning what was going on as the " hosts" were emerging into consciousness and who was behind it and what their motivations were.

Then the entire Maeve story line completely ruined the show. There was no understanding why the techs were helping her, and her trip to achieve consciousness/individuality ends up making all the other story lines centered around that topic completely worthless and forgotten. In the end it is claimed she was programmed to do what she did, but it did not fit with what she experienced and her interactions with the techs and their own actions was too unbelievable. So the damage is done and we forget about all the other characters we were introduced to the first 3 episodes.

Ford channeled too much of Hannibal Lecter, and the writers should have left his motivations and mental state far more vague. A mad genius is not an interesting plot device.

All in all the writers dropped the ball on this one. They tried to hand too much at once to viewers and it ends up being an overload of confusion and indifference to particular characters, and it all just ends up in a calamitous mess.
