Observer (2017)
Immersive, cyberpunk, psychological horror
Simply one of the best horror games I've ever played. Rutger Hauer massively delivers in his role as jaded Observer Dan Lazarski. A man that works for a mysterious corporate juggernaut cyber wear company called Chiron. After finding what he believes to be the body of his son Adam, Dan scours a locked down, dilapidated apartment building for clues and follows a trail of more bodies and jacking into their last memories to try and piece the crimes together in a truly trippy fashion. Observers environment and sounds make for a truly eerie and immersive tale in a future plagued by a cyber virus and NPCs that have become used to technology dominating their lives. I definitely recommend this game for anyone that's a fan of the cyberpunk/Blade Runner vibe. It's a quick game with so much to take in and question.
Elden Ring (2022)
One of the best games I've ever played.
I'm relatively new to FromSoftware games. I've played a few of them here and there but I've never gotten really into them besides Dark Souls 3. That one really made me start to appreciate the genre. That being said, I beat Elden Ring last night and it is hands down one of the best games I've ever played. FromSoftware making the jump to open world is what really made it for me. It made the game so much more accessible in comparison to other Souls games and it was such a breath of fresh air. Getting stuck on a mandatory boss in the other games made it so frustrating because you literally couldn't progress but in Elden Ring you can leave, go level up doing something else and come back. Not to mention how just absolutely beautiful the game is as a whole. This game deserves art direction, score and game of the year at the game awards in my opinion. Masterpiece.
