Stacey Dash Comeback
5 January 2024
Stacey Dash still looks good but remains a terrible actress. In this rather bad feature film, she helps to make it worse. It is difficult to discern whether this is a drama or a tongue in cheek parody of 50 Shades. It would be rated better if it were considered a comedy, but I'm not sure. Natasha H should do a thorough review of her career in having done this movie. I find it hard to believe her career had come to this film. The story is meant to be sexy, I believe, but Amanda is not convincing in her role as a naive and innocent curious S&M participant. She is too easily convinced to try spanking and doesn't seem to care regarding the after effects which is an obvious by product. I would rate this as a one star, however, I did watch the movie in its entirety. I recommend that the viewer not have high expectations for being sexy, dramatic, nor mysterious. Watch this if you have nothing else to do only otherwise you'll regret the wasted time invested.

Slow, long, and stupid
26 December 2023
A musical Hunger Games? Viola Davis is embarrassed by this one. She should remove her name from the credits. If this aligns to the book, then it is written to cash in on a previous innovative story. Now it's full of its own cliche's and makes one think the original story didn't age well. Maybe it could have been better with real headliner actors as the main characters vs supporting roles. Peter Dinkledge proved he couldn't carry this one despite him being the only interesting character. They should try this one again because it is either too serious or too dramatic. There are no heroes and the singing is a distraction despite being good music. It just isn't appropriate to the story.

Scary No
26 March 2022
Stupid yes. Cannot believe this was made as a Thriller. It's a comedy. Chloe (Sunny) nor her boyfriend don't seem to have an instinct for survival. She runs from the criminals at a leisurely pace. Only once do they attempt to defend themselves. Terrible movie and waste of time to watch.

Acceptable

This movie has a very good concept and acting. The problem is this drags 1 hour too long. The editors are to blame. I do not recommend watching just simply to endure a good story with a very disappointing ending.

Weinstien, Lauer, Cuomo
2 February 2022
The Weinstien, Lauer, and Cuomo brothers are much better examples of Sexual Harrassment and public impact. This is a stupid discussion about Cosby and the participants should move on. Very poorly put together for no expressed purpose than to discuss and old and irrevalant news event. It's over.

Entertaining Fantasy
21 February 2021
I think people expect too much from movies to be realistic. This a fun fantasy somewhere between a horror in the same vain as Twilight Zone and comedy from the perspective of Rocky Horror Picture Show. I think the scenes were exciting even if the story is ridiculous, but I had fun watching. The scenes are shot in a non-traditional format that keeps things interesting and Chloe is convincing. I give this movie very high marks for being original and it is refreshing. If you don't have fun, then you just don't have a sense of humor.

Fun and Different
30 January 2021
This is a good family comedy. How often do you get to see a dysfunctional family comprised of a mother in jail and a derelict father come together in a time of need. This is a comedy and a heist movie. It's fun although nothing realistic, but that's what fun is all about. Modern comedy with a interesting perspective on the definition of an effective family. My only spoiler, but no surprise is a very happy ending. There is nothing typical about this story and that is what makes it great. Highly recommended.

Classic Romance
20 January 2021
This is a textbook romance movie from every aspect. Very funny and well acted. If you don't like this movie, you're probably old with no sense of humor. I read some reviews that state its unrealistic, but so what, all romance even real is a fantasy. If this wasn't on Netflix it would show on Hallmark Channel, but it has better actors that are more convincing in their roles. Both lead characters demonstrate romantic chemistry carrying the highs and lows like its really happening. A fun movie and great cast. It's all good.

The Kate Winslet You Don't Know
14 December 2020
I read a lot of reviews before seeing this movie. I agree with some of the comments stating that there are too many sub-plots. However, this does not make for a bad movie, just a very complex one best viewed on the DVR so you can rewind and understand the variety of character connections. This movie would have been better served as a two part sequel. Anyone of the plots could make a very good movie if expanded. All of the actors are superior and believeable. The lead premise is centered on dirty cops, but what's difficult to understand is how they originate as a gang and how they are related to Kate Winslet who plays a very interesting and convincing mob boss. Who would have thought she could be this good, and rivals in the realm of John Gotti and old school mafia. She is fierce, ruthless and deserves her ultimate fate. Don't be fooled by the bad reviews, just remember to pay attention. The gun battles are realistic and not over-done. I think this movies rivals well against something like Alpacino's Heat. If you like that movie, you definitely like this one.

Opps No!
6 December 2020
Natalie Dormer doesn't pull it off as a blind person. Too much drama and suspense too soon as if being blind is the thriller feature of the movie. I consider this a very low speed influence feature of Audrey Hepburns's "Wait til Dark" except, it just isn't that good. Dormer tries too hard which translates into "fake". She just does too many things that come accross as someone who use to have vision and recently blinded rather than someone who is blind all her life. Weak acting, unbelieveable story, it just doesn't hold your attention long enough to generate curiosity.

Dirty Cops Great Perspective
3 December 2020
Mel Gibson is getting a little old for these action type roles, but the keen realism aspect of this film fits his character. A multifacet story on partnership, loyalty, friendship, and all of it misguided. Maybe the underlying reason is good and decent or not, that's debateable. This is what makes the story most interesting. The gun battle is perhaps too realistic to the point of distraction is my number one criticism. But I can't imagine the movie without that battle. Mel Gibson is decent, but can't help thinking he is the same character in every movie. If you like his style, you'll like this movie.

Entertaining Enough
3 December 2020
Every movie doesn't have to be an Oscar competitive quality for me to enjoy. This is one of these non-Oscar candidate choices. There is a lot to desired in this low budget, yet clever plot movie. A down and out entrepreneuer gets the big break he's been waiting for and this is where the movie takes a major turn to become interesting. You think you know where the plot is going and maybe you do or maybe not. The acting of the main characters are decent. This isn't side cracking funny, but amusing enough to keep you engaged. I wouldn't watch it again and hesitate to rcommend as a prime movie choice, but I definitely didn't regret watching.

Modern Horror
23 November 2020
This iis a good horror movie because there is nothing cheap about its approach. This is as much a horror movie as it a murder mystery.. No spoiler here, because there are a lot of surprises. Liz Moss, whom I'm not a fan, but I have to admit that her performance is superior and she is nothing short of perfect. Everything about her in this movie is believeable. The storyline is relevant for these times. The concept of an invisible man is tough to accept to any practical and educated person, however, the concept proposed here is interesting and doesn't overwhelm the story. This is good entertainment and possibly one of the best sleepers in the era of COVID movie releases.

Good Ol Fashion Fun
6 November 2020
When watching this movie, you can't help but think of "I Love Lucy". This movie is crazy, fast, smart, corny, slapstick and stupid. This means that it is funny and sometimes extremely. Everyone should like this movie because there are no high moral messages or hidden agendas. The plot begins with a rather typical couple arguement. Nothing serious, but serious enough to hurt each other feelings and they conclude this is due to their lack of compatibility. Soon, you learn why they are together, because they are both equally stupid. This is a fun movie and a good laugh to wath with your significant other.

Clever Mystery
3 November 2020
This is a clever and interesting story. It doesn't become obvious until it has to do so, or just when you've had enough. I think it keeps your interest throughout and paced really well. I think this is what modern Horror/Reality/History telling should continue to evolve in movies. Janelle does a credible job as the lead, however, I don't think she had the acting skills ti carry the picture. Probably would have been better with a higher quality actor to really bring out the true irony of what is happening. There are some obvious editing flaws in a couple of plot areas that are never explained, but eliminated perhaps to cut length. I also believe that some characters should have been exoanded rather than focus on Janelle who still has under-developed acting chops. Overall, this is a good movie and worth seeing. No Oscar winners, but worthy of discussion with friends and family. I applaud Hollywood for "stepping out of the box" with this one.

On Point LMN Formula
30 October 2020
This has all the Lifetime cliche's which makes it a good movie. I love LMN movies because you can start watching them from any point and quickley figure out where it's going and how it will conclude. Fun movie, no Oscar performances, but everyone gives a great LMN quality effort. Vivica Fox is not seen much in this one and that's disappointing. The set quality and variety is some of the worse ever. They could have spent a few more dollars for bette location shooting. The entire movie seems to have been done in someone's house.

Good Movie, But No Mystery
26 July 2020
This is a decent enough movie with an interesting but predictable story. All of the characters are well played, convincing. Good supporting cast in every aspect. Murder mysteries are difficult to maintain interest over a 90 minute format without a lot of bloody gore, however, I think this one makes a crediable attempt to not use cheap tricks to catch the audience off guard. There are no Oscar performances. I recommend viewing when the choices are limited and it will not dissappoinr.

Should Have Been A Lifetime Production
23 July 2020
Nia Long doesn't do a lot of movies and it's unfortunate she did this one. Decent acting cannot overcome a dead script. This theme has been played at least 100 times so it is difficult to add something new. There isn't anything new or interesting. Netflix could have provided better financing for better set locations and extras. This film appears low budget and uninteresting. Disappointing effort.

This is a highly emotional drama about the importance of family in our lives. The characters are realistic and the actors embraced their roles. No overacting, no attempts to upstage each other. This is a powerful drama at every level. Love is a important thing.

Great Feel Good Movie
4 June 2020
This is an entertaining family comedy drama. All of the characters are interesting. You know how the story is going to end, but there are a lot of surprises that are pleasant and unpredictable. Anyone who raises children will relate in some form to what a real family experiences as they grow together. I like everything about this movie although its corney, but this is what makes it fun.

Had Potential But Missed Every Opportunity
4 June 2020
Natalie, Natalie, Natalie! Why? This movie has the potential to be interesting but.... Is it SciFi? Is it Action Adventure? Is it a drama? What's up with the all female unit? Was the female unit thing trying to be politically correct? Don't know what I watched and why I looked as long as I did. Portman missed the mark of being believeable as a hardened soldier. This would have been better as a zombie movie.

Natalie Why?
4 June 2020
I normally like the suite of Natalie Portman's movies, however, she's demonstrating she aint got it for SciFi. Actually I don't know the purpose of this movie no more than I did in her recent flick called "Annihilation". The later movie I attributed to a bad script and gave her a "bye". But in this flick, it's a bad script compounded by bad acting. It's hard to tell if her character is a victim, ill or just plain pathetic. I don't know who she is supposed to be throughout. Each scene is obviously done in isolation and there is no integration of the story, no validation of why things are happening. She ought to be ashamed of what she has done to her fans in this story but like all stars, she got paid. This is a bad movie because it goes nowhere. NASA should have prohibited the use of thier name.

The Superbowl of Acting
22 May 2020
The problem with this movie is that all of the acotors are too good and there's not enough screen time for all. Ed Harris and Kevin Spacey whom have tremendous careers can't hang with the likes of Pacino, Baldwin, and Lemmon. In this last group Lemmon really steals the show. When Lemmon interacts with each of the characters all seem to struggle to raise their game even with Baldwin. All of the actors should have received Oscars. Great script, great film. I've seen it twice in twenty years and although I know the ending, it doesn't spoil the drama and entertainment.

It Is That Bad
22 May 2020
The key to a good "campy" film is that it doesn't intend to be that way. Flash Gordon is the best of the best campy sci fi thrillers and sets a standard. Good acting combined with bad acting makes it fun. This film has bad acting all the way. There is no story, no hero, no moral, no happy theme. Is this a sci fi film or a dream fantasy? I don't know, but I do know that it's terrible.
